Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster Chapter 542: The Talk
Chapter 542: The Talk
Before Zafira could even process what he had just said, he placed a hand over her forehead and activated one of his skills that was tied directly to the Law of Growth.
Of course, it was none other than the Growth Seed skill.
In an instant, a green crystal appeared on Zafira’s forehead and began pulsing with mana. Soon, her expression beca much calr, and even her appearance changed slightly.
Her features were highlighted more, her hair grew longer, and not only that, Rael could’ve sworn he saw her breasts increase by one size.
But whether that was placebo or fate, he wasn’t sure.
Nonetheless, as the seed’s effects continued, her appearance only grew more beautiful.
If she was a supermodel before, she was now a jade beauty among jade beauties.
And in the end, when Zafira began wiggling her fingers and feeling her body grow much healthier, her eyes widened in shock.
“Huh? Rael, is this what you ant by seed?”
Rael raised a brow. “What did you think I ant?”
Zafira narrowed her eyes. “You were trying to set up.”
“Did I?” Rael shrugged. “Sounds to like soone’s having naughty thoughts.”
All of a sudden, Zafira raised her hand and pinched his cheek with all her might and refused to let go.
With dramatically teary eyes, he was forced to stop his teasing, and after just a few more seconds, the Growth Seed embedded in her forehead vanished, as did the regenerative effect.
Zafira harrumphed and energetically got off the bed before swiftly getting dressed.
Despite her mature and serious expression, her cheeks were red. How could he take her seriously when she was like that?
I can’t. Rael held back a chuckle. Though she’s too cute for her own good. The Growth Seed’s effects remained as well…
“What do you say we go for another round?” Rael suggested, patting the bed where she’d been just a mont ago.
“Definitely not today.” Zafira rolled her eyes and tied her hair in a bun. Then, she went ahead and left the room.
Rael sighed and followed after her like so puppy. It seed like she was heading for the kitchen, so he let her do just that, not interrupting her.
When she arrived in the kitchen, she took out a few snacks. Even though no one maintained the fridge, it seed like it had the magical effect of making the food inside never spoil.
After whipping up a few ham sandwiches, she put one in her mouth and sat by the kitchen table.
She crossed her legs and signaled with her chin for Rael to sit opposite her, so that was exactly what he did.
“You know, I feel like I’m in trouble here,” Rael said matter-of-factly.
“You are,” Zafira assured, taking a bite out of the sandwich. “For starters… we’re setting limits on how many tis we do it.”
Rael sulked. “Fine…”
“Fifty tis a week,” Zafira announced with a straight face, causing him to freeze on the spot.
“…Pardon?”
“You heard ,” Zafira replied, a faint smirk tugging at her lips. “For the ti being, we’re not doing it more than fifty tis a week.”
She’s enjoying this, isn’t she?
“Fifty is on the low end, but sure,” Rael said. “I’m fine with whatever you pick.”
Leaning back, he crossed his arms. “Just know that I’ll follow your words to a T. No matter what happens, I’ll stop after fifty.”
They would probably reach it by the third or fourth day if they acted like sowhat reasonable adults.
But… the reason I’m really agreeing with her is because she’s undermining her own part in all of this.
Truthfully, while he could consider himself soone with a lot of libido, Zafira had at least triple that.
So it was safe to say that she would lose out more than he would, and that was why he was so accepting.
Zafira smiled and finished the rest of her sandwiches, not even offering him a single one.
When she was done, she tapped the table a few tis, getting his attention, as if his attention hadn’t already been on her non-stop since the mont she ca back two days ago.
“What did you want to talk about?” she asked.
“Lilith,” Rael got straight to the point and began retelling his encounter with her, the deal they made, the accidental marriage, and how he sent her away to Zafira.
It took a couple dozen minutes to explain, and when he was done, Zafira had the general picture of what he was talking about.
But for so reason, her expression remained neutral. The only ti it wavered was when he ntioned the accidental marriage.
“So you feel responsible,” Zafira comnted, tapping the table. “You accidentally married her, built a slight bond, and now you want to at least make her rember you. Is that it?”
Rael nodded slowly. “It is.”
Zafira stopped tapping the table, her expression serious.
“Do you love her?”
“I don’t,” Rael replied right away.
“Then, do you like her romantically?” she continued.
Rael shook his head. “I don’t.”
A mont of silence ensued as Zafira stood up, putting both her hands on the table and narrowing her eyes at him.
“Do you think you’ll ever fall for her?”
Hearing that, Rael tilted his head, confused.
“I don’t think I will.”
“Why not?” Zafira pushed further. “Our relationship started from a coincidence… you t her and got married because of a coincidence… so how can you say you won’t fall for her? It’s not like our relationship blood within a week. Did you even spend more than a few days talking to her before her mory was wiped?”
She walked over to him and sat down on the table right in front of him, crossing her legs.
“How can you know what might happen, Rael? I know you want to promise that despite the ti you’ll spend together, you’ll never ever feel anything for her… but just be honest with whenever sothing happens.”
Rael was stunned by her speech. He saw her sincerity but also understanding.
As it stood at the mont, he had feelings for Zafira and only Zafira.
He was sure that would remain the case because, despite his past, he was inherently loyal to the one he loved.
And yet, he couldn’t reply to her. He felt like if he said anything at the mont, it would only irritate Zafira further and especially go against the last words she had said.
Still, he was a little hurt. Although he understood how she felt, it was clear she didn’t think he had the self-restraint to keep his eyes only on her… which hurt a little. Maybe a bit more than a little.
“As you said…” Rael spoke. “I won’t promise you that I’ll never form an emotional connection with her, but I can promise you that no matter what happens, you will be soone I love with all my heart. Because of you, my perspective of the world changed. Because of you, I tried to better myself, and because of you, I endured seventy-four years of loneliness just so I could see you again.”
His gaze hardened. “I want you to know the bond we have isn’t sothing that I could ever have with anyone else… so don’t go around thinking that you’re not enough for .”
Her expression faltered as a single tear ford in the corner of her eye, which she quickly wiped away.
But by then, Rael had already risen from his seat and stood in the kitchen doorway.
“I’ll grab so lunch with her, try to remind her of what happened between us, and after that, I’m coming ho to watch a movie with you. Pick whatever you like… even if it’s that corny vampire series.”
With those words, he gave her one last smile and finally walked away, leaving the mansion.
As for Zafira, she remained on the kitchen tabletop, staring blankly at the doorway where Rael had just stood.
“…”
“…”
“Dummy…”
