“While I’m not surprised you got scamd… just what did you say to lose so much money?” Rael asked, pushing Altros away.

Altros furrowed his brows.

“Why does that matter? I didn’t try to argue with him. I just ca to him with a lot of money and asked him to waive the tab slightly.”

Rael sighed, rubbing his temples.

“So you went in there with a lot of money and didn’t negotiate?”

“What was I supposed to negotiate?” Altros scoffed. “He already has my sister’s life in his hands. If he so much as wanted to, he would just disconnect her from the machine and make it look like an accident.”

Once again, Altros was playing the victim card. Sure, it was an effective card given the situation, but then again…

“When did you beco so spineless?” Rael asked. “Shouldn’t you be in your rebellious phase right about now? What do you do nowadays? Gamble? Sleep with tens of won a week?”

Stepping forward, Rael pressed his finger into Altros’s shoulder.

“The only reason I’m not dismissing you here is because you is that actually went through with it. You sold your apartnt, and that’s what matters most. You showed your sincerity, and for that, you have a bit of my respect.”

Altros spat on the ground. “And what use is your respect? Respect from an NPC ans jack shit to . Just give a quest reward or sothing. I wanna log out.”

Sensing the desperation in his tone, Rael offered reassurance.

“I will give you money, but you first need to get rid of that hospital director.”

“Huh?” Altros froze. “You an like…?”

“Mhm.” Rael smiled, patting Altros’s shoulder. “I want you to kill him.”

Altros stared at him speechlessly before letting out an exhausted sigh.

“Listen here, you dumbass. I’m not sure how it works in this fairyland of yours, but out there, killing soone is against the law, man.”

Rael chuckled. “And sleeping with prostitutes isn’t?”

“Dude, there’s a line to these things. Though you’re not exactly human, are you? No wonder you act like this,” Altros replied, worried.

But even with all these righteous thoughts, Rael knew how Altros truly felt. After all, he was in his shoes all those years ago.

Therefore, Rael continued.

“Every Friday, he leaves work at 10 P.M. and heads straight for the pub in downtown Seoul. It’s only a couple-minute walk, but that whole street has no surveillance. The pub he visits is also an underground brothel that deals in human trafficking.”

Rael clenched his fists. “He’s a very sly man, using a portion of the hospital’s funds for his weekend activities. It’s almost funny how there are coincidentally no caras tracking that spot, am I right?”

Hearing that, Altros’s eyes widened.

“You’re saying he tipped off the cops as well?”

“Everyone lives for themselves or for their family. If they can get an extra paycheck just to turn a blind eye to soone else’s misfortune, they would do it in a heartbeat,” Rael replied calmly. “But with this lack of surveillance cos an opportunity to kill him and not be seen.”

“S-Still…” Altros lowered his head. “Look man, as alluring as this sounds, I don’t have the balls to kill soone. And what if the person who replaces the director is even worse? What am I supposed to do then, huh?”

Rael understood what Altros was getting at, but frankly… he felt no empathy for the director. He deserved to die, and Altros had the ans of ending him.

It was just too good of an opportunity to pass up.

“Today is Friday,” Rael said slowly. “He gets off work in five hours… I know you are reluctant, and if you want to put your trust in again, then log back on in four hours.”

Suddenly, Rael tapped the air and sent a friend request.

“Huuh?” Altros’s eyes widened again. “NPCs can’t send friend requests. Wait, are you a player? No… When I inspect you, it says you’re an NPC. Just what is going on here…”

Still, he went ahead and accepted Rael’s friend request.

“Unnad? Why don’t you have a na?” Altros asked.

“It’s a bit complicated,” Rael replied. “Don’t worry about it. And do think about what I said. If you want to change your life, log back on in four hours and send a text. If you do that, then I’ll help you. If not, then I will respect your decision and give you so money you could use, which you might as well just throw into the sewer on your way to the hospital.”

With those words, Rael snapped his fingers, stopping ti for everyone but Altros.

“Regarding humanity… I’m not sure where I stand. I’m not old enough to completely disregard it, but I’m not young enough to remain naive.”

Rael shook his head. “Though I suppose that doesn’t matter. You are far too naive at this current point in ti to even realize what I’m talking about.”

Altros stared at him silently, then nodded.

“Yeah… I only understood half of what you said. But I’m probably not going to log off until later. I’m in a gaming café with the last of my funds, and I still have up until 10 P.M. before my ti runs out.”

He glanced at the people who were frozen, even walking up to so. He kicked one in the balls and another in the shin.

Rael didn’t intervene because he couldn’t exactly care about these players, except a very small handful, including Altros.

But then again, discipline is best taught directly.

SNAP

“AAAH!”

“Who is this bastard!?”

“Uhh…” Altros froze, backing off and looking over to Rael for help. However, Rael was already far gone.

And so, before Altros could even begin reciting the apologetic mantra, he went flying to the other street like a ragdoll.

“Get his ass!”

In the anti, Rael was already back in his mansion. He went to the main bedroom and plopped down on the bed.

He fidgeted, and having made up his mind, prepared himself and inford others that he might be away for the day.

A mont later, he got a reply.

He felt like she had sothing in mind already, so he didn’t question it. Instead, he hearted her ssage and then closed his eyes, his consciousness fading and then rapidly returning.

And when he reopened his eyes, he found himself in the Mind Realm, surrounded by a large forest and so kind of colossal structure in front of him.

There was a several-thousand-ter wall blocking his view of the other side, so he couldn’t tell what exactly was happening, but if he had to guess, it had sothing to do with the Domain Rael had bought for Gaia.

And speaking of Gaia, she was resting by a tree not too far away, alongside Anna who was feeding the birds. Even if the birds weren’t real, she was acting as though they were.

He found it oddly human of her, so he didn’t interrupt her fun ti and instead approached Gaia, sitting down beside her.

Gaia turned around with a faint smile.

“Glad you’re here. I’m still making the surprise, so don’t you dare look past that wall, got it?”

“Yes ma’am,” Rael replied playfully. “But hey, Anna seems to have made so progress, right?”

Gaia nodded. “She’s learned to love.”

“…?” Rael tilted his head. “She did?”

“Don’t get the wrong idea,” she assured. “She’s grown fond of animals and plants. That’s the only thing that I managed to actually teach her. She’s pretty dull when it cos to other emotions. Maybe love is just engraved into her…”

She trailed off, realizing the probable cause.

“Solenne did have a lover, huh… I suppose it all adds up in the end.”

Rael remained silent, waiting for her to finish reminiscing.

“Your Constellation plan will be ready after I construct whatever’s on the other side,” Gaia said after a pause.

A big smile spread across her lips.

“But I can imagine why you’re here. I did offer to help you last ti… So listen up…”
