"What is there to talk about?" lissa turned her head slightly. "Are you going to go over the sa tune you’ve said in the past?"

"I—"

"Listen, I don’t care," she interrupted. "Save your apology for the next ti you decide to reset the universe on a stupid whim."

"lissa," Rael called out sternly. "I’m not trying to apologize, nor am I trying to get in your good graces. I know I can’t, so I won’t."

Taking a deep breath, he continued:

"The only thing I want is to hear how you’ve been. Is it selfish? Yeah, but I have a bit of ti, and since you were talking about a vacation, I bet you do too."

He turned his gaze to the pond, then walked toward it before sitting down. His expectations weren’t high, but even so, after a few seconds, he heard footsteps coming toward him.

Instead of sitting down beside him, lissa jumped to the other side of the pond and sat down there.

The blood that had been all over her vanished, but her distant expression remained as a painful reminder of how shitty of a person he used to be.

"Tell how this current life of yours is treating you," lissa said, amused.

"Seems pretty good so far," Rael replied dryly. "I’m pretty happy, though with everything that’s going on right now, I feel like I should just run away with those I care about into so realm no one knows about..."

"How poetic of you," lissa remarked. "Do you still carry around those ten wives of yours as so pocket sex toys?"

"Ten...?" Rael blinked, flustered. "I have two wives, and most of the ti, we’re all doing our own things. They’re a bit too weak for to bring along into dangerous places like these. I don’t know how you rember or how I was like before the shattering, but that’s not anymore."

Before she could reply, Rael decided to give her a little heart-to-heart.

He told her about how he first arrived in this world, the people he t, the dangerous encounters, and even the experience he had in the mory Record, as well as what followed up until the current mont.

It was odd retelling the sa story so frequently. After all, only recently, he had told the sa thing to younger lissa from another universe.

Though... he did erase her mories afterward, so it didn’t count.

But unlike the reaction the alternate lissa gave him, this lissa wasn’t as amused.

"How boring..." she sighed. "Is that really it?"

Rael raised a brow. "Eager for more?"

"More like disappointed," lissa replied. "Honestly, one of your stories from before would be enough to at least not make want to fall asleep."

"I used to tell you stories?" Rael smiled, lowering his gaze. "Hey, this might be personal, but was I a piece of shit till the very mont I died?"

A mont of silence ensued. lissa began tapping her heel on the surface of the pond while shooting him a blank look.

But her next words did more than break the silence.

"Who says you died?"

Rael froze. "What?"

"If you had died, you would’ve died in a more grand way," lissa added. "You didn’t tell where you were going, but you did ntion the location where you left your guardian. After that, no matter how many tis I tried to get in touch, you would not reply to ."

She narrowed her eyes.

"That was when, after a few years, I felt your presence in so weak world. I reached out several tis, but you never replied. I thought you were mad at , so I stopped trying..."

After a brief pause, she turned her head away.

"So to answer your earlier question... you were a piece of shit till the mont you vanished. Not always, but our last eting was morable enough to make dislike you again. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I should probably get going."

His mind still spun from all this new information.

Ever since he first heard about the shattering, he thought that the mont it happened, many beings died and were reincarnated, him included. His sister, Jane, and the others... he always thought they simply reincarnated earlier than him and thus gained all this power through hard work.

But if the shattering happened, and the people from before never really reincarnated, then...?

Was he, as he stood now, just so sort of experint? lissa ntioned a tutorial system, so what if—

"Wracking your brain around the unknown is burdenso," lissa interjected. "If you don’t understand sothing, wait until you’re more powerful. Also, I was kidding when I ntioned the ten wives thingy."

His brows twitched, and she let out a faint chuckle.

"Truth be told, after your first lover died, you locked your heart away from everyone, including Jane. Though I don’t like you, I’m glad the streak of a couple billion years of loneliness was broken by... Zafira and Lilith. I see..."

A look of understanding appeared on her face, followed by a large smirk.

"I’ll be paying a visit to those two. As for you, don’t use ti reversal. The mont you do, you will lose. If you feel like you can’t hack it, then run away. Oh, and whoever is orchestrating all of this... just know they’re not doing it directly."

Not doing it directly...? Is she saying that the being is just getting his apostles to do the job? Rael mused. If that’s the case, then I only have to worry about whatever’s in front of . That makes it a little easier.

"Are you sure you’re going to leave?" Rael turned to her. "I an... I told you about myself, yet you didn’t tell much about how your life has been going."

"I don’t want to tell you anything, because having a conversation with the current you is like talking to a toddler," lissa replied. "Whenever you regain the mories of the past, feel free to contact . Until then, I don’t want to hear a peep out of you. Understood?"

The pressure she released was enough to nearly knock him out, but when he raised his head, trying to reason with her, she was already gone without a trace.

The eting was... short. He really wished he could’ve gotten to know her more, and with the amount of mystery she left him, it really seed like she was his sister.

Then again, if there are billions of years of history between us that just poofed out of my mind and stayed in hers, I can understand why she doesn’t even want to humor .

Rael looked back at the pond, and then at the 44-hour tir.

He sat cross-legged, and since he had a lot on his mind, he decided to ditate.

Not only that, he also tried to nibble at his brain to uncover so of his mories, which, while he wasn’t hopeful, was one of the better things he could do with his current free ti.
