Rael didn’t know what he expected, but definitely not this.

He got a bad feeling about Johan from the very start, but for him to be so kind and generous... Did he have so kind of ulterior motive?

Or was he really just so kind of tsundere uncle?

Either way, he waited for a few seconds, and after he realized that Johan wasn’t going to change his mind, Rael just sighed in confusion.

"Thanks for the support," Victoria said with a nod. "Maybe now that I’m going to be around, you’ll finally start taking your responsibilities seriously."

He shrugged.

"I doubt it, but thanks for thinking about ."

Astaroth was just as confused as Rael at this point, but even so, their little back and forth soon ended, and Victoria turned toward the remaining two Dragon Gods.

Indra and Rain.

"I take it you two are not in favor?"

The two of them exchanged a quick glance, then nodded at her.

"We don’t believe you’re suitable."

"Could you elaborate?" she asked. "What makes us so unsuitable?"

Rain was the first to answer.

"You’re not even married at the mont, so making you Dragon Gods would go against our tradition."

"Wow. You’re speaking of tradition even after engaging in a fight?" Johan whistled. "You snot-nosed brats really don’t know when to take a beating and accept defeat, eh? Screw both of you."

Rain didn’t react to the taunt at all and instead just smiled at Victoria.

"That’s my answer."

Hearing that, her brow twitched slightly.

Even so, she turned to Indra, who, unlike Rain, paused a little before answering.

It was almost like he was still shaken from what happened earlier.

"I... The reason I disagree is simple. I don’t like either of you."

"Is that a good enough reason, though?" Astaroth chid in, cocking his head back. "You’re like a child throwing a tantrum. If you can’t give us a solid reason, we’ll just decline your vote and rule in our favor, you know?"

Indra’s brow twitched again.

"According to the rules, I don’t need a reason. I don’t like you, as I’ve already said. That should be more than enough for you two to get the hint and buzz off, yeah?"

He turned to the rest of the Dragon Gods.

"So now that we have two in agreent, one neutral, and two in disagreent, that ans we need to postpone this for the next year. Isn’t that right?"

If that really was the rule, then Rael was a little bit sad that the dragons were so patient with one another.

Because during that year, Rael was sure he would wage war on every single person who disagreed with him.

But maybe that was just the goal of these people.

Postpone, wage war, and then whoever wins would still be respected.

Or sothing.

"That is the rule," Avarice said, nodding slowly.

Then he stood up and nodded at each person present, including Rael and Nyx.

"Since that’s all for today, I’ll be taking my leave."

Right as he began walking toward the exit of the barely intact throne room, Rael coughed a few tis, getting his attention and causing him to halt.

"You know, I don’t want to say anything improper, but why don’t you change your mind, old man?"

Avarice slowly turned his head.

"I don’t know who you think you are, but watch your mouth."

Rael let out a sigh and took a few steps toward Avarice.

He arrived in front of him shortly after.

Despite the old man being buff and tall, Rael was not only taller than him, but his muscles were also much more defined.

"Watch my mouth? Why should I?"

Rael smiled.

"I should only watch my mouth when the person in front of is stronger than I am. You, on the other hand..."

Holding back a laugh, Rael’s smile widened.

That pissed Avarice off greatly as he narrowed his eyes at Rael and began flaring a little bit of his mana, causing faint crackles of lightning to circle around Rael, as if threatening to pierce him at any mont.

But as if he wasn’t amused in the slightest, Rael channeled a small portion of his Laws.

More specifically, the Law of Plasma.

Bluish-purple orbs of plasma suddenly began floating around Rael.

Although it was hot and powerful, it was so stable that Avarice couldn’t even feel the danger.

Yet the mont Rael’s plasma orbs touched the lightning, Avarice couldn’t even react before he was blasted back, flying directly into a nearby wall and being impaled on a sharp plasma spear.

Coughing out blood, Avarice stared ahead in shock.

But his years of experience were most certainly not for show.

Picking himself back up, he endured the unbearable pain from the plasma spear and quickly healed himself.

As he stared at Rael, his eyes began to flicker with lightning.

And above all else, rage.

The two stared at each other for a brief mont.

Then Avarice’s figure vanished, quickly reappearing beside Rael in the form of a slick lightning bolt.

But Rael not only saw through this attack with his foresight, he also had the perfect way to counter it.

And that was to use the Law of Barriers.

The mont Avarice reappeared beside him, Rael channeled the Law of Barriers and ford a thick, yet invisible barrier around Avarice as well as his unsuspecting wife.

Not only was all of his mana usage deed useless, but all the mana that he had scattered outside of the barrier was sothing he couldn’t interact with.

And so, as the realization set in that he had been trapped, Avarice banged on the inside of the barrier, tried using his mana, and even slamd his head into it, as if trying to break through it.

But nothing that he did was working, all because the barrier relied on mana.

And mana was what Rael had plenty of.

Clearing his throat once more and parading around the trapped Avarice, Rael narrowed his eyes at Rain and Indra, then flashed a warm smile.

"I believe it’s ti to renegotiate once again, don’t you?"
