The two of them ate the pizza in silence, though the occasional crunch of the perfect crust that Rael had so handsoly cooked made him chuckle slightly.

“What’s so funny?” she asked.

“Ah. It’s nothing. I’m just feeling a little nostalgic,” Rael replied, taking a bite out of another slice.

“Nostalgic… Yeah. I always feel nostalgic. The older you get, the more you begin to filter the fun and happy mories as opposed to the plain ones.”

At her words, Rael pointed his pizza slice at her.

“Care to share any happy mories?”

She thought about it for a mont, then shrugged.

“I rember I once climbed a hill when I was younger. There was actually a treasure chest on that hill left behind by my father’s father. Apparently, my father had been looking for it when he was younger, but he never found it.”

Rael raised a brow.

“How’d you find it?”

“I was curious how the dirt tasted.”

“…”

“You’re kidding, right?”

Anastasia giggled.

“I wish I was. Imagine trying to explain how I found it to my father with a mouth full of dirt. I wasn’t a very stupid child… Or so I’d like to think.”

Right…

“Anyways, inside the treasure chest was a cassette tape. I rember my father inserting the cassette tape into the player, and then I also rember his tears as he watched the video…”

She lowered her head slightly.

“My father was very goofy as a child. The video showed it. But with every minute that passed in the video, my father grew older. His father grew older too. Eventually, there was a recording of my mother and father’s wedding, and moving a few years further… I also saw myself.”

Her cheeks flushed slightly.

“I was a really ugly baby.”

It was a strange observation, that’s for sure.

But Rael couldn’t help but lean over the table like so sort of gossip queen who had a wide smile on his face.

“The video showed growing up, and at one point… the point I rember very well. It was a still picture of , my mother, my father, grandpa, and even my grandma. I guess that mont was way too precious for to forget…”

A single tear stread down her cheek, but she quickly wiped it off and acted as though nothing had happened.

Rael didn’t judge her either, as sothing like this would make him tear up as well, especially if he knew his parents cared enough about him to record his childhood.

Though, it seed like Anastasia was happy, and he was happy for her.

“To be honest, I think I made a copy of that picture and still have that picture sowhere in my inventory,” Anastasia added. “It’s just that… I have close to a billion items in there, and sadly, there’s no such thing as an inventory filter. If there was, I’d love to see it again.”

With trembling hands, she accepted the gift. In the next instant, Rael saw her reach into her inventory and begin pulling out random stuff.

Hairpins, katanas, apples… and finally, her hand paused as she slowly took out the item from the inventory.

It was a small picture frad in glass. The wooden fra itself had so sleek flower patterns, but most importantly, the picture itself was very high quality.

Rael stood up and walked over to Anastasia, sitting down beside her.

It was just as she said.

Anastasia was there as a little girl, and then there was her mother and father. Her father surprisingly didn’t have an arm.

There was a prosthetic. But it wasn’t one of those normal ones, and instead, it was one of those pirate hooks.

Judging by the rainbows covering the pirate hook, Rael guessed Anastasia had sothing to do with the decorations.

And of course, there was also the grandpa and grandma she ntioned, who looked just as happy to be there.

Behind them was a mansion, and clearly, she was quite well off.

But more importantly, she looked extrely happy there.

When Rael raised his head and glanced over at Anastasia, he realized she had stopped holding back her tears, and while holding the picture, she let them all out, sniffling and letting out occasional sobs.

Her emotions were leaking into him, and for once… she gave off the emotion of happiness.

A lot of happiness.

Seeing that, Rael stood up and walked back over to the fridge. He tumbled around with so ingredients and made a row of sandwiches, which he quickly placed on the marble table again.

“Be sure to eat a lot. Okay?”

“…I will.”

Anastasia t his eyes, a genuine, warm smile appearing on her face.

“Thank you.”

Rael held back from getting emotional himself, as this fuzzy atmosphere was a little bit too much for him at the mont.

Still…

Rael just nodded at her, and while pretending that he wasn’t affected, began munching down on so food, all while admiring her expression as she glanced at the picture.

He honestly felt that there was no way that he could make her happy.

But clearly, the simple things in life could even make a several eon old being happy.
