Rael scooped up so of the grass on the outskirts of the city, and then stuck the seed Gaia had given him straight into the hole, covering it up shortly after.

Then, he just stared at it for a mont, expectantly waiting for it to grow, almost forgetting that stuff like this took ti.

But right as he was about to speed up the ti of this seed, Gaia placed a hand on his shoulder, then shook her head.

"We’re immortal beings, so why rush life? Personally... I enjoy seeing the growth rather than the end result. What about you?"

Hearing that, Rael’s eyes widened. He never really thought of it that way, but now that he did, he nodded back at her and said:

"That makes a lot of sense. Yeah... Let’s not ss with it. Also, why are so many people staring at us now?"

"Because commoners and people not from around here aren’t allowed to plant their seeds on elven soil," Gaia replied. "I’m partially elven, so I’m allowed, but since you were the one who planted it... And you clearly lack any elven heritage, there’s a bit of controversy."

Racism, eh?

Welp, whatever it was, Rael was glad he planted the seed, and now, he just took Gaia’s hand and walked through the rest of the city, occasionally stopping for so commodities. Obviously, he tried to make it interesting for Gaia too, but no matter what he did, he couldn’t seem to find what she liked.

That was until the two of them visited the orphanage. He didn’t really expect her to stop here in particular, but then he rembered how she went out of her way to save those children back then. She definitely had sothing in the back of her mind she didn’t want to share.

So instead of asking her to share, he let go of her hand and nodded toward the orphanage. "Do you want to go inside? I’m sure, like all orphanages, they accept volunteers."

Gaia thought over it for a mont, then nodded back at him. Afterwards, the two of them entered the orphanage, and unlike last ti, these people didn’t seem to discriminate against him for his lack of elven heritage. Instead, they actually welcod him, even nourishing him with so surprisingly delicious food.

As for Gaia, despite seeming uncomfortable initially, she was happily enjoying her ti here. While Rael helped with food preparation and other stuff, she played around with the kids, even going so far as to heal so of their illnesses with her own mana.

He never expected her to do sothing like that, since oftentis, she seed to be impartial. So impartial, she would let the world crumble... Not when kids were involved though.

This continued for a bit, until eventually, the bell rang and the kids went back for a nap. Rael and Gaia t up once more, and after saying their goodbyes to the staff, the two of them left the orphanage.

Gaia was much happier now than when she first ca to the orphanage. Rael was glad to see that, but he also could barely contain his curiosity.

"Want to talk about it?"

She paused for a mont, then shook her head.

"I’d rather not. I don’t have very fond mories of my childhood, since it consisted of nothing but pain and suffering. I turned out alright, but I wish that at that ti, I knew how to take better care of people, since if I wasn’t so useless, many orphans would have lived."

Rael stared at her, not sure what to say. "Hmm... Honestly, I doubt it ever gets better. But if I’m being brutally honest, I feel like it shouldn’t."

Feeling like he wasn’t being exactly very clear, he added:

"Basically, do you feel like if you were a little stronger at that ti, you would’ve been able to save them all?"

Gaia shook her head, her brows scrunching slightly. "It was manageable. Really manageable. I had neglected training, and if I trained for one month longer, I would’ve been able to prevent the whole event from happening."

She opened her mouth, and right as it seed like she wanted to say more, she stopped, biting her tongue as she shook her head at him.

"That’s enough. I’m not sharing any more. Also... Your concern about is unwarranted. You should worry more about yourself, since now you have a lot more on your plate than before."

Rael rolled his eyes. "I won’t force you to reveal anything, but I do want you to know that you can rely on , and even use my shoulder whenever you wish. I know I’m an idiot at tis, but even then, I can just listen instead of offering solutions."

A faint smile appeared on his face. "That’s much better than offering to fix all your problems, is it? Imagine I’m like a priest, and you’re sitting beside , or whatever you call it... Oh, right. A confession booth! Think of it as a confession booth."

Gaia stared at him as though he was an idiot. "A confession booth...? Do you think we’re in so ancient tis? We’re old enough to talk things out."

"Then why don’t we talk?" Rael proposed, crossing his arms. "It shouldn’t be too hard since we’re both adults, right?"

Gaia rolled her eyes. "No. I said I won’t talk."

With that, she let go of his hand and stomped forward, pissed off by his attitude. Rael let out a sigh and followed after her, still trying to convince her otherwise, though obviously, he wasn’t very successful.

But even though he wasn’t, it was plenty of fun going from one place to another, fighting and exploring. Even the elves noticed it as they began pestering them every now and again.

Eventually, they ended up in the very center of the city, a little tired from all this walking. Obviously, they weren’t physically tired. Rather, they were ntally tired.

But even then, now that they had taken a break, Gaia felt a little more at peace. Especially since while they were fighting, they visited every single orphanage in the city, so now...
