The lightning spread kept on spreading.
Sam didn't need any more formation discs like the opponents. He is condensing energy into a node and extended the net rapidly. And every weakling that fell into the trap was defeated easily by the trap itself.
Of course, there are people who are strong enough to defend against the trap.
People like Alric for example.
When Alric finally fell into the net, a barrier ford around him and Sam containing both of them. The expansion of the net was also stopped for the mont.
Alric looked at Sam coldly and drew his sword.
"Your tricks end here."
"Tricks?"
Sam chuckled and his body disappeared into a lightning, in the next second he travelled through the lightning net and arrived right in front of Alric. Sam caught a hold of his throat and said.
"Don't comnt on my competence. It almost feels like an insult."
With just one proper hit, Alric was defeated. Before he could die, a token on his body triggered and saved his life, before the formation of the testing site took him away.
Sam didn't stop there.
He just increased the net more and more. The audience watched in awe as he finished the contestants at an incredibly rapid pace. Within twenty minutes the whole testing site is covered with the lightning net and very few people remaining within the test.
Then Sam activated full fusion as he used the net to travel from one place to another in an instant. He is now fishing out the remaining opponents that are hiding from the net in so narrow places.
The elders of the Zeus academy watched this whole spectacle.
They clenched their fists in anger and one of them even suggested killing Sam right there and then.
But of course, the other elders didn't consent to it. The one in charge of the test went to the Dean who is in charge of the whole academy and reported the situation to him.
Dean who is already observing the situation is ready with the instructions.
The elder went back and did sothing to the formation
Sam who is ready to beat the crap out of the next target, suddenly felt so pulling him away. The lighting net disappeared in an instant.
Sam arrived outside the testing site in his fusion form and he got ready to attack.
The elder contained him within a barrier and said.
"You passed the test. You will be awarded the first position. But we cannot have the rest of the students all go away without having an opportunity to showcase their skills.
We are going to restart the test without you.
But as I said, you will be awarded the first position. You can take a seat and wait until this test is finished."
Sam was then led to the spectators area where all the recomnded students who just joined as freshn were sitting.
Pearl and Rain are also there, apart from them there are a bunch of unfamiliar faces.
There were no empty seats, but one of the attendants brought one and placed it right beside Pearl up on her instructions.
"So, what did you decide? Are you going to join the Zeus academy?"
"Not really interested right now. This test is far more subpar than the other ones."
"No, you made it subpar than the other ones and I feel like this is a deliberate asure. But you do know what the consequences of doing this right?"
"Whatever they may be. I am sure it is not sothing I cannot handle."
"Are you an adventure junkie or sothing? Why do you want to live on the edge so much?"
"I don't know any other way. My comfort lies on the edge. Anyway, why do you worry so much?"
"I can't watch a talented person ruin themselves like this. I have been witnessing one very close to already. I can't bear to watch more."
Sam just shook his head and didn't bother with the conversation.
The ti passed by quickly. With Pearl's presence none of the other recomnded candidates didn't bother him.
"You have quite the pull in this academy. Everyone is very scared of you."
"Of course, why don't you join the academy then, none of the seniors will also bother you."
"They are not bothering now and I highly doubt they would be able to. They are more of an annoyance."
"I don't know if you are being honest or boastful. Either way, you are going to be in way too much trouble."
"That will just lead to more chaos within your academy."
The second test was soon over and Sam got ready to leave. But Pearl stopped him.
"They are not going to announce now. There is a small announcent before that and there is an event now."
"What kind of event?"
"A dance event."
As soon as she spoke, Jade appeared in middle of the stage and started dancing while singing a song. Her dance is beautiful and graceful, she is an incredible dancer and the surrounding spiritual energy reacted to her dance.
But her singing is not as good. It is considered decent and better than a lot of singers Sam ca across, but it pales in comparison to her dancing skills. But everyone is still drawn into her voice and the dance. Because she is expressing an emotion.
A very strong emotion of sadness, loneliness, heartbreak and lancholy.
"She is in love."
Sam said in a very low tone.
His eyes were locked on to her as she moved.
Pearl clenched her fists and said almost in a whisper.
"Unfortunately, yes."
Sam looked around and observed all the special candidate students as well as the top rankers of the admission test. All of them are checking out Jade.
Sam felt that this is weird and asked Pearl.
"What is happening?"
"We are looking for a groom for my sister Jade. And she is dancing as an introduction. Why? Are you interested?"
"By the looks of it, your sister is not interested at all. Why bother forcing her like this?"
"It is necessary. If not, she will run away with so mine rat that has no future or backing."
"So, as long as she marries one of these highborn wannabe talents, it is fine?"
"I don't need them to be high born, they need to have potential, talent a future. But the guy she desired doesn't have any. He cannot protect her."
"She seed strong enough herself though."
"She is talented enough to be strong enough, but she is not willed enough."
"Huh. I have crossed realms up on realms. From the lowly mortal words with absolutely cultivation to places ruled over by Divine Plane cultivators, but this shit hasn't changed. If you are that powerful can't you provide a life where your sister can just relax?
Then what is the point of holding all of this power. This is plain stupid. I don't want to see this shit show anymore.
Tell your academy people to send my reward to the inn. I am not joining this school anyway."
Sam stood up and placed his hands in his pockets before walking away.
Pearl's face blackened a bit. She didn't know what to say to Sam's words. Her father did indeed have the power to let them lead whatever lives they wanted. But he is so greedy for more power that he wouldn't stop at anything to gain it.
And this led him to have a heart that doesn't have enough sentint to allow her daughters to have a life of leisure. Their actions are his signs of glory and their marriages are part of it."
Sam walked to the gate of the academy while everyone's attention was on Jade.
As he walked to the entrance, an old man was standing with the hands behind his back. He looked down at the bottom of stairs where a bunch of guards holding another guy back.
The old man watched Sam and spoke.
"I thought you would leave early."
"Well, I cannot take part in this farce anymore."
"I guessed it. Based on the information about your character, you must think these political gimmicks are beneath you."
Sam raised an eyebrow and looked at him.
"You know ?"
"Yes, I was warned by our Lord Zeus about you."
"Then you are?"
"The dean of the Zeus academy. Lord said that you would co and pull so tricks."
"Then you should have warned your students. They suffered way too much because of their under preparedness."
"I had strict orders against it. You are here on the will of so gods and I have no right to defy their collective will."
"Sure. Then you know that I will not join your academy, why welco such a tragedy up on yourself?"
"It is your right as a student to take the entrance examination, I cannot stop because of the personal information that I obtained from the god."
Sam looked at the bottom of the stairs and asked.
"Then why is that guy being stopped? Is he late for the exams?"
"No, he is not here for the exams. He is here for my niece."
"Your niece?"
"Jade. The one that was dancing just now."
Realization dawned on Sam. Now he understood why Pearl has that much influence.
"So, you are their father's brother, I am assuming."
"Yes."
"No wonder, Pearl is so confident in making those promises. Do you hold the sa beliefs as your brother?"
"It doesn't matter what beliefs I hold, but I cannot force mine on his daughters. It is not within my rights."
"Just another way of saying you don't want to bother yourself with your niece's plight. What's the point of all that experience you have gained over the years? The more I stay here, the more I am disgusted. Please send my reward to the inn. I am off.
Also, make your elders and instructors know of my honorary student status. I am gonna use it very well."
Sam slowly walked down the stairs.
