The Academy realm has been in war many tis.
The Academies fought with each other on virtual any tric one could imagine and that included conquest and slaughter. However, even in those myriad of wars, so wars were ant to be special.
And the war caused for claiming the legacy inheritance was one such war.
Within the Pocket dinsions that appeared that year, one of them had the legacy inheritance as the prize. Everyone wanted to claim it and one of the Norse Academy students managed to win it after clearing the quests of the pocket dinsions.
However, no Academy was willing to back down.
They openly challenged each other. Ambushes, assassinations, trickery. Everyone stooped so low in front of one inheritance that the prestige of all the Academies was drawn down the drain. In fact, that might be the only ti when one of the Academies actually physically got destroyed.
Even the Elders were on each others' throats and the Deans had to step in and almost got into conflict.
All of this happened in the short span it took for the student to assimilate the inheritance and truly claim it as his. Finally, the Academies lost the actual reason to battle. Even if they kill that guy, they wouldn't get claim the inheritances.
But the war still went on for a while.
By then a lot of resentnt brewed within themselves and they couldn't just let it go.
Finally, when the war spread way too far and wide into the realms outside the Academy realm and so really powerful figures intervened, they finally had the mind to sit and talk.
That was a nightmarish period and he for one would rather forget it ever happened.
"Legacy Inheritances?"
Dean repeated and Dayus nodded.
He finally pushed the docunt away and looked at Dayus intently.
"Zeus has prepared ten legacy inheritances of various elents. They are extrely strong. I don't know exactly what elents they are and if there are any variants, so I need to prepare a big crew to cover as many bases as possible.
For now, only I know exactly what the prize is and to look for it. The rest of the students don't. But I know for sure that they will attack if they find out. That is why, I need the crew even more.
I need them to save and help out in the pocket dinsions and of course they will get to inherit these amazing rewards after that."
"You do know how much of a fuss these inheritances cause right?"
Dean asked and looking at Dayus' blank expression, it is apparent that he actually doesn't know the impact of it.
So, he told briefly about the war.
"These are gifts from Zeus. Are you sure you just want to let it go with that as excuse?"
Dayus replied. Even though it did feel a bit ominous to think about what sort of war these legacy inheritances will bring, he knew he needs a crew. He cannot just give up on it.
Dean sighed. He then recalled what Pearl spoke to him before once.
"There is a vision to one of the oracles that the gods are going to create sothing special this ti around. They will bless our region with rewards and I want to make sure that I get to control the people who can obtain them.
I want to be the leader of this new era."
He now understood why she was gathering a crew and was so desperate about it.
He also realized that Dayus is the one to trigger such a fortune in the Olympian region. He put a brake to those thoughts and said.
"I did want to give you a crew, however, you must understand why it is hard for to support you openly in this.
It is one thing for to explain your sudden admission out of nowhere, if I really force so first graders to follow you, then things will blow up in our face.
You need to organically recruit them.
However, for that, you don't have enough prestige. No one knows you and therefore no one trusts you.
Even if you reveal your special status no one will follow you willingly. Do you really want let those kind of people to inherit these rewards?"
Dayus nodded. What Dean said is absolutely right and it is one of his worries as well.
So, if this needs to work, he needs to increase his prestige instantly and he needs to attract people while doing it.
"What do you suggest I do?"
Dayus asked. He llowed down. The beating must have really helped.
Dean went into a deep thought and landed on the docunts on his table. He suddenly had an Idea. Dayus is one of the players after all and he believed he could use him a bit.
"I don't know if you have heard, but Sam and Zeus Academy are on logger heads. One of the students made a huge mistake and broke a lot of rules to entrap Sam. Right now, Zeus Academy is going to face the legal trials based on the realms Judiciary proceedings.
This put us in a lot of trouble. On top of that, there are problems from several fronts. As if that is not enough, Sam employed a group called Flaming Skulls to deal with the students of the Academy.
Until now, a few seniors were put on the task to weed out the flaming skulls, but they were unable to do anything.
Right now, flaming skulls are attracting a lot of attention and they are causing a lot of first grade students to suffer, if you can investigate this, find them and deal with them, then you will get the popularity you need, while attracting a lot of people's loyality since you will be the person that saved their lives, how about it?"
Dayus' eyes lit up. This is indeed a great chance. It is almost like the stage was set for him just to perform and capture the audience. "I will do it." He imdiately agreed.
"Before I announce your admission, I want you to attempt the Academy tower, in fact go ahead and attempt all the Olympian Academy towers.
After that was done, go to the Hub, register yourself. The procedure for getting a new wrist band and puppet is simple. Enter the Hub and attempt the Arcade tests. Get as high score as you can…."
"Wait a minute."
Dayus stopped and asked.
"What is this Hub?"
Dean sighed and explained and Dayus kept on frowning.
Because the explanation of Hub sounded a lot like sothing he has seen before back in Desolate. Before Sam built a Park, more like an amusent park in the land he obtained for so of his exploits in military.
It was very famous. In fact, its impact was much higher than when Sam built his City and the Academy. After all, it was the first ti in the world that sothing like Sam's park was seen. A lot of working models in the Hub are similar to Sam's park.
Of course the scale is obviously very different.
But Dayus had a bad feeling.
Then he thought about the reason for Sam kidnapping him…
He felt like he is connecting so dots.
"Who created this Hub?"
"Soone nad Joker. He wears a mask and he only appears as a projection. No one has t him in person. Maybe the current managers did, but that's about it."
"Joker?"
"What does he look like?"
Dayus asked.
"You will find out when you go to Hub and register. Hub is the most happening thing in the Realm, so the arcade scores hold a lot of prestige.
Since you are a player, then I am sure you will do great. The only problem is, we have way too less ti and way too much to do. You need to work on all these imdiately. You have until tomorrow afternoon to finish these tasks. After that, the case of Flaming skulls will be yours."
"Alright."
Dayus and Dean discussed a few more details.
At the sa ti, in the Gambler Academy's Student union room.
Crow is looking at the vice captain of the city guard.
"Crow, this is not a small matter. The whole city is in chaos. People are dying left and right, so of them are in an even worse state, they are being crippled and a lot of them are from big families.
Sam must take responsibility for what he has done."
"What has he done, exactly? Do you have any proof?"
Crow asked in a calm tone.
"You know better than I, what kind of person he is. Just for a couple of bowls of soup, he caused a lot of commotion. There is no way, after doing sothing as bad as using a pocket dinsion to trap him, he will stay put.
And only he is the one arrogant enough to leave his na behind on the cri scene."
"That is what you believe. Belief only helps when you are praying to god, not investigating the cases like this."
"Crow, you better make him surrender, or else the consequences would be severe. The city guard might usually turn a blind eye to things like fighting between academies, but that doesn't an, we are incompetent.
Don't take our leeway for granted."
Crow just stood and spoke.
"The eting is over. Get out."
