Imagine all the words that can used synonymously for surprise and you will see the expression of all the second graders. Only a few people are not really surprised. Because ever since this Set academy guy started fighting, people are wondering how they can counter that.
Not just the second grade people, even so third grade and so rare fourth grades are also wondering how to counter him. Because a lot of them didn't even understand the ability. So did understand it, but couldn't figure out a counter.
Rashma who usually acts like a barbaric brute has figured it out a lot faster than most people.
That confident kick is the direct representation of her understanding.
As for what the ability is...
The other guy also has a rare constitution. His body can turned into a specter at his will. In a way it is kind of a fusion form with soul energy.
That is the most apt analogous description anyone could give. He has inherently shit tons of soul energy and he can use it in a much more versatile way. The added benefit is that he has a higher stealth than a regular specter.
He can be undetected for a lot longer and he wouldn't be emitting death energy like a specter does.
So, it is a great stealth and of course, he can also create illusions using that soul energy. Sam knew it because of the Hub. There is no credit to his own intellect or anything else. And it is debatable now if he can really detect him easily in the span of a few minutes.
That aside, Rashma detected his trick almost imdiately.
There are a few ways one could deal with specter.
Battle of soul power. A ntal battle essentially.
Using light energy.
Using volatile spiritual energy, similar to the void style or even energy bullets. After all, they are just manifested energy forms.
So, they will work. Sam noticed that Rashma is cleverly using a combination of first and third options.
She is physically manifesting her soul power into her body and then making it much more volatile when attacking. That is what he saw in her kick. And he barely managed to catch him. The mont that kick landed, the opponent felt like his soul has been really kicked out of his body.
He could feel it.
The burning sensation deep in his soul.
He looked at Rashma who just stood there calmly. His face is full of doubt and a million questions ran through his head.
His body was about to turn transclucent, when Rashma made her move once again.
*BAM*
She stomped on his chest.
*CRACK*
The stage cracked and his body slipped into the cracks. He used that chance to turn his body into the spectral form before seeping into the stage. But...
*BOOM*
She threw another kick, this ti towards the stage.
*CRACK*
The stage cracked open completely and the force of the kick attacked the opponent who was in that ethereal form. He ca out coughing blood like a lunatic. Even his eyes are bleeding. His soul has been attacked and his brain is effected.
He is only all fours, coughing and trying to breathe.
*SWOOSH*
Rashma appeared beside him and kicked on the ribs.
His body flew like a ball. He went past the stage and landed far away, almost hitting the stands.
*PANT**PANT*
He panted heavily before he lost consciousness.
"WE GIVE UP"
Rashma was about to make a move, after all, there are no boundary conditions for this match. She could just beat him up there. But the elder of the Set academy acted to give up the match. He hurriedly went to treat that guy.
Rashma with that Sam bored expression went down the stage.
Everyone watched with blank faces. This is semi finals. Usually battles at this stage would have been intense, neck and neck, burning everyone with anticipation. This match is over in thirty seconds. That included the ti they took to go on to the stage.
This is beyond ridiculous at this point.
Now, Sam went on to the stage. His opponent, the final candidate that remained from the Set academy ca up.
"You Gambler academy students are really audacious."
Finally, soone spoke in the matches. This ti the Solo Combat has gone way out of hand and too many people died. Almost all the people who were not part of the top 32 have died. Only a small percentage of them managed to give up and remain safe without critical damage. So, there is too much animosity and everyone tried to kill everyone even on the stage. And people should actually be scared at that mont, because there is no goal to showcase their pride, no desire for prestige, but only to kill.
But for the first ti a candidate talked.
This one out of burning vengeance.
"FIGHT"
Maybe he expected Sam to move out imdiately or he was just vigilant, the first thing he did was to bring out four corpses. The corpses of the Giants. They stood around him on all four sides. They are earth giants and they have solidified rock chest thighs and arms.
It seed to be a mutated corpse puppet. They didn't look even a bit agile.
Sam guessed their job is to defend the man that summoned them.
Then the opponent waved his hand. A few beast undead ca out of nowhere. All four of them are insect type beasts. They are Golden Mantises. They are predators of the predators. They are a bit taller than Sam and their bodies are full of inscriptions.
They are not high level inscriptions in terms of their energy storage. They are definitely made by a second grader. They are high level in terms of quality though.
And their major job is to increase the defense of the mantis' exoskeleton and also increase the sharpness of its blades.
Sam was impressed. He took out both of his hand guns and got ready.
*SWOOSH*
The mantises moved, all four of them at the sa ti. They are nothing but golden flashes
as they ca at Sam from four sides.
*SWOOSH*
Sam was faster though. He activated the light elent. Partial fusion was enough to match at
the speed and he moved vertically up. Several ters into the air.
*BAM* *BAM* *BAM* *BAM*
He just shot the bullets downwards at the spot where he stood.
The bullets didn't explode normally like his usual bullets, instead they whistled through the
air. At a very high velocity the first two bullets went directly into the stage, drilling through it into the ground, but the remaining six...
They attacked the skulls and blades of the mantises and they went through them. Not only did they go through them, they also ssed up the inscriptions.
*BOOM*
*BOOM*
One mantis exploded, its exoskeleton is destroyed by the inscription's energy. The other
mantis lost a couple of joints losing its blades.
Third and one fourth had relatively less damage.
But the cracks could be seen.
*SWOOSH*
A bird is already in front of Sam. He didn't even see when the opponent has summoned it. But
Sam manuevered around it and shot it on the head point blank.
*BOOM*
Its head exploded and fell down towards the mantises.
The two mantises cut through the birds and jumped at him.
*BOOM*
Sam shot the first one, its head exploded and its blade went through the second one, killing it.
Then he aid his gun towards his back over his shoulder and shot.
*BOOM*
*SCREEECH*
A specter appeared and it was burned by the vitality of the light energy.
Sam didn't wait and aid at the ground to shoot.
*BOOM*
Flaming explosions ca out of the ground along with the corpses of the burning Mud worm
type beasts. Sam blew the non-existent smoke off the barrel of his guns as he looked at the
opponent, taunting him.
These undead are indeed powerful.
For the people who don't know how to handle them. One of the greatest things about these
undead creature is that they are enhanced, way too much in fact. Most of them are covered with inscriptions. For run of a mill combatant, understand the inscriptions, analyzing them and finally using them against the undead will take a long ti.
For Sam...
It is easy. Not just because he is good at inscriptions, but rather most of the inscriptions on
these undead creatures are designed in the hub.
That's right. This guy is also a frequent user of the hub and he enhanced most of the undead
he carries using the hub's resources.
So, all Sam had to do is jog down his mory a bit and *BOOM*
He can rember the weak spot of the undead like his own signature.
*BAM* *BAM* *BAM*
Three more shots and three specters that ca it burned in the vitality. Sam's smiled widened. He hovered in the hair, looking at the opponent. He definitely didn't
want to finish it fast. He is taking his sweet ti.
