The tiny white ball of soft fur shook, then suddenly unwound into the lithe figure of a little fox.

The creature was barely the size of three fists put end to end, with five long, puffy undulating tails and brilliant white fur that seed to reflect all light into a silver haze hanging around it.

The track along its belly and up its neck was a mix of shades of silver and soft rose colours, beautiful and utterly srising.

Its ears were long and pointed, and the creature seed straight out of heaven, so beautiful it seed more like a dream than flesh and bone.

The creature’s beady little golden eyes landed on Uriel, and he looked back at it.

His confusion lted away, and he chuckled.

"Well, would you look at that?" He sat up. "If it isn’t my good old blood-drinking murderous buddy, then who is it?"

He let the little creature fall onto his palm, then softly picked it up by its nape, bringing it back to his face.

It glared at him, snout twisted into a low growl as its tails nacingly undulated across the air, chaotic and orderly aether rapidly gathering around it, the air growing heavy.

Uriel observed it all with more curiosity than fear or hate, almost as if he didn’t care that this beast had nearly killed him, or that it had forced him to nearly kill himself.

"Oh my, what are you so angry about? Weren’t you just sleeping with ?"

"...no!"

His eyes widened upon hearing a young boy’s voice co from the little fox, its golden eyes trembling in rage.

"You..." he looked at it incredulously. "You can talk?!"

The fox’s snarl grew deeper. Picking up on context clues, Uriel gently set it down on his lap, letting go of its nape.

The fox stood on all fours on his lap, shaking its body and fur free of any dirt before it suddenly plopped down and turned into a loaf, its tails wrapping around its body like a blanket.

"Hey, buddy," he poked at the moody creature. "You know, I haven’t forgotten you tried to kill ."

"Nor did I forget you used as a sharpening tool. That wasn’t very nice. I almost died."

One of the fox’s tails unfurled and whipped across the air, smacking his finger—

"Ouch!"

—then wrapping around its body once more.

Uriel pulled his finger back, a bit at a loss.

Was he supposed to just let the creature who had nearly killed him peacefully sleep on his lap? He wanted to protest and push further, but now knowing he had been fighting the beastly equivalent of a little boy, he almost felt... bad.

He wasn’t much of a fan of child abuse—his past said as much.

"So, what? Are we buddies now? Or is it a temporary truce?"

"...!"

From its loaf, a low growl of annoyance echoed, Uriel’s incessant words only aggravating the creature more and more.

"What a moody little brat..." Uriel muttered, feeling his hot and throbbing finger.

In truth, he wasn’t very worried about the Fox.

Facing him while he used a glaive in a chaotic expanse was very different from facing him when his core was stable and he could use magic.

Even without his mage circles, as long as he could draw runes, he doubted there was a situation within the dungeon he wouldn’t be able to escape.

...

The ditation floor of the Spiral House was quite empty, its wooden floors and stone walls the sa, with the only difference being that a circular rug stood in the room’s dead centre.

And upon said rug, a small wooden mat, covered in multicoloured runes, could be seen.

Apart from that, the room was incredibly bland, much like all the other floors. It was such a stark contrast to the alluded luxury of the ruby wall and the gigantic allure of the Spiral House that Uriel found himself continuously disappointed.

Still, he didn’t linger.

He sat cross-legged on the mat with his eyes closed, the stubborn little fox sitting and sleeping on his head, having vehently insisted on accompanying him.

"..."

Uriel took deep breaths in, feeling the smooth flow of aether within the Spiral House, and slowly exhaled, fogging his surroundings as he did so.

Thanks to both his runic scar and the mat, he rapidly fell into a deep state of focus, having forgotten all else but the task at hand.

Assess his body.

’Weave Status.’

Quite a few things imdiately stood out to him.

’As expected, the formation of my three cores caused my ascendant base to regress back to the early stages of the G-Rank but...’

He looked at his hand.

’...I didn’t lose any of my boons from the Terracrule Lineages.’

Not only were his Shells still present, he felt they had reached an even greater level, becoming one with him in a way he found hard to describe.

He felt truly indestructible.

On top of this, he hadn’t lost any of his traits or talents and, in fact, his uniqueness seed to have even evolved.

...

Uriel slowly nodded as he read this.

’This is going to be primordial in what’s to co.’

Regardless of how much he reforged his body, Uriel was aware that his mind would always remain his greatest asset.

Especially in the context of his mage battle prowess and position relative to all other regressors.

’Hm...’ he softly caressed his chin. ’Since I’ve regressed to the G-Rank and kept everything, I suppose I’ll have an additional set of evolutions over everyone else.’

’Maybe I can...’
