After returning to the base from the hospital, Qianqian hadn’t yet thought of what to say when Xu Tianyi ca over and found her, "Qianqian, I won’t be able to join you for als at the Luo Family anymore. I’m going to participate in a competition abroad during the winter break. I’m leaving tomorrow."
Luo Qianqian was startled but then felt sowhat relieved and nodded, "Then, good luck." A sincere smile, however, dazzled Xu Tianyi’s eyes as he hurriedly said goodbye and left.
Hei Yu also appeared just in ti, smiling at Luo Qianqian who was at the door, "Starting today, you’ll be living in Zone A."
Luo Qianqian blinked in disbelief.
The base was divided into seven zones plus a dining and entertainnt area. Zone E was for daily living tasks such as laundry and shopping. The general living area was in Zone D, consisting of four-person dormitories without any secrets; researchers also rested there, while the labs were located in Zone C. High-precision software was in Zone B, which had private rooms connected to the labs. Like the lab in Zone B where Luo Qianqian had stayed before, it was exclusive to Hei Yu’s students. To enter Zone A, one needed to pass fingerprint, iris, and voice recognition, followed by card swipe entry. The contents inside were worlds apart from those outside. Moreover, each zone required different access cards. The access card for Zone C could only open the isolation doors for Zones D and C, while the access card for Zone B could only open doors in Zone B. The isolation doors to the dining and entertainnt area could be opened with any access card.
As for the two higher departnts, one was called the S-level departnt, and the other was known as the Soul. What they did was unknown, and Hei Yu belonged to the latter.
"Why?" Luo Qianqian blinked.
"Afraid you’ll start dating early." Hei Yu responded seriously.
Luo Qianqian’s mouth twitched, "He’s going to participate in so competition, and we won’t see each other. Won’t I bring trouble to the teacher?"
"What trouble could you bring?" Hei Yu looked at Luo Qianqian disdainfully, "Just stay put, there’s nothing to worry about. The people inside can teach you that college entrance exam stuff."
Luo Qianqian suddenly laughed, then said seriously, "Don’t worry, teacher, I’ll try not to embarrass you." So it was for the college entrance exam, Luo Qianqian understood, but then imdiately realized, "Is it because the school’s on break?" Otherwise, why would one go to a competition while she was thrown deep into the base for studying?
"Yeah, it’s break ti." Hei Yu nodded unflinchingly without showing any guilt. Luo Qianqian found him believable and took him at his word, "Anyway, I’d known about the howork long ago, so it’s not a big deal. But, about my grandfather..."
"Your uncle knows and will tell your grandparents." Hei Yu certainly wouldn’t allow her to run around and stir up trouble. A single discovery had nearly crashed a device that took a year to develop. If sothing even more significant were uncovered, the consequences were unthinkable, especially since psychological rehabilitation couldn’t be carried out before the college entrance exam.
"That’s good." Luo Qianqian accepted it calmly, never suspecting that soone might be hiding sothing from her. After all, there weren’t many places where she was worth being calculated against, except for the backing of the Luo Family. But apart from that, what use could a young girl with brains but no experience have? Looks? Too childish. If soone was interested in her face, they’d be either her peer or a big creep. Brains? If they knew she was clever, why would they bother scheming? That was also unlikely.
Now, she had only her brother’s issue to consider.

anwhile, Luo Qianqian was leisurely inspecting her new quarters, which had the sa layout. The difference was that the space was bigger, and her belongings had already been moved over.
Outside the one-way mirror, Hei Yu slightly furrowed his brow as he watched the girl happily rolling on the floor, "By surveilling her like this, are you sure she won’t cause any more trouble?" From Luo Qianqian’s perspective, it was just an ordinary tea-colored glass; after all, glass was nothing out of the ordinary in this base. Luo Qianqian didn’t pay much attention to it, but in the room where Hei Yu stood, the scene on Luo Qianqian’s side was as clear as if seen through transparent glass. The room, filled with various types of equipnt, was specially prepared for Luo Qianqian upon Hu Si’s request.
However, they overlooked Luo Qianqian’s common sense. At this mont, she was lying on the bed, squinting her eyes as she asured the distance between her fingers and the large glass pane. A perplexing expression crossed her face, as it dawned on her that this place was a cage, and she was the rabbit being observed within it.
This comparison was apt, as there was indeed a little white rabbit in a cage at Hu Si’s feet, an experintal subject for the laboratory.
Upon seeing Hei Yu enter, Luo Qianqian managed to force a smile, "The teacher is here."
Detecting that sothing was amiss with Luo Qianqian, Hei Yu nodded, "How is it, do you need anything else?"
Luo Qianqian nodded, "I need a large cloth to cover this glass," she stated bluntly.
Hei Yu seed surprised but didn’t say anything, just nodded.
Seeing Hei Yu nod, Luo Qianqian felt sowhat puzzled, "Are you sure?"
Sensing Luo Qianqian’s hostility, Hei Yu spoke up, "Usually, no one is on that side. Only when your emotions are unstable does Hu Si go there to check the data, so he can wake you up in ti if necessary."
Luo Qianqian frowned.
Hei Yu said, "Let take you over to take a look."
The room was soundproofed, so whatever the two discussed, Hu Si didn’t know, as he was busy installing the equipnt to monitor Luo Qianqian’s body condition.
Luo Qianqian didn’t enter the door, because the room wasn’t wheelchair accessible. Filled with several whirring machines, the not-too-small space seed crowded, "All these are the latest equipnt. Their downside is the noise, so we isolated a room for them. The wiring is extended from over there, routed from the electrical line," Hei Yu explained to Luo Qianqian.
Hearing the noise, Hu Si looked up, his brow furrowing upon seeing Luo Qianqian, "Quickly take her away, the sound here can affect brain waves."
Hei Yu nodded and pushed Luo Qianqian away, "You understand now?"
Luo Qianqian nodded, feeling a bit embarrassed, yet she wondered if perhaps he too had been misunderstood by her. But when she considered that her young uncle might die at the hands of the Xu family, it was hard for Luo Qianqian to accept.
But what if it was all a misunderstanding...

Both voices tangled within Luo Qianqian’s mind, and she lowered her head in agony.
Whether it was a misunderstanding or not, Xu Tianyi was the person she had chosen, and the one she had decided to be distant with now. Even though it might bring her harm, she was still young, and there had to be a process to determine whether her decisions were correct.
Five years from becoming an adult, she didn’t know what might happen, but until then, her brother was the most important; her brother was still suffering in an unknown place.
