"Who are you?" Luo Qianqian turned around to look at the person, instinctively protecting her chest with her arms, her face full of wariness.
The person before her was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black face mask; apart from a pair of eyes, she could see nothing else. The figure was skinny, and the height seed to be around one ter eighty, likely a male student, Luo Qianqian deduced.
"Want to know? Follow ." The voice was sowhat hoarse, a male’s. Luo Qianqian glanced inside the store, didn’t follow him, her face full of worry, wanting to enter the store, but he grabbed her wrist: "It’s best you don’t go in now, your friends are all right."
Listening to his words, Luo Qianqian stared into his eyes, as if seeking confirmation, and seeing the owner of the eyes nod, she chose to believe him.
Because she couldn’t enter even if she didn’t believe, everything she was currently experiencing was challenging everything she knew. Could soone tell her why she felt like she was on a rollercoaster ride right now? The kind without safety belts, and the key point was... she couldn’t scream out loud.

"I’ve been sent to protect you; you can call Number Thirty-Eight." The man said, "This card," he flicked the matcha green card in his hand and put away the light blue one, "symbolizes your identity."
"I have an ID." Luo Qianqian interjected without hesitation, jokingly, did she, Luo Qianqian, even need such a thing? And Number Thirty-Eight? Not special at all. If it had been Ninety-Nine or One Hundred, that would have been pretty cool.
The man looked at Luo Qianqian and, speechlessly, rubbed his forehead under his hat, "Let’s put it this way, your card, the green one, is just a normal Entry Card. The ’J’ stands for evolution, my blue one represents speed; I’m from the Speed Group."
Luo Qianqian gave the man a look as if he were an idiot: "Are you about to tell that this is a Special Ability? Then we’re all chosen by fate or sothing like that? And then you’ll lure into joining you before I get injected with so weird vaccine that changes ... no, according to you guys, it should be evolving, evolving into a New Human?"
The man’s gaze turned extrely strange, his eyebrows furrowed tightly, and, face flush with embarrassnt, he finally managed to say, "You have quite an imagination."
"Huh?" Luo Qianqian looked at the man, then frowned, "It’s fine whatever you want to say, but could you let contact my friends first? They must be worried about ."
The man gestured for her to go ahead, and Luo Qianqian picked up her backpack that had been thrown on the ground, muttering under her breath, "Doesn’t know how to take care of a girl’s belongings at all, must be forever single!"
Picking up her phone, she sent different ssages to Qin Nuan, Cong Rong, and Jimo Cheng, ntioning sothing only those concerned would know to prove her identity and then telling them she was safe, that she had escaped at a crucial mont, but was tied up with sothing right now and couldn’t show up, asking the three of them not to worry.
"All done, your turn," Luo Qianqian said after sending the ssages, putting away her phone, and waved her hand impatiently, "I have classes to attend in the afternoon."
"Oh..." The man seed at a loss for what to say, "Where was I?"
"You were saying you’re New Humans about to get vaccinated." Luo Qianqian reminded him without hesitation.
The man had a look of exasperation: "We call this inborn potential, which needs specific circumstances to be stimulated, ’ability.’" The man stressed the words ’inborn’ and ’stimulated’ to remind Luo Qianqian not to add in her own fantasies.
Luo Qianqian, who had been nonchalant, suddenly thought of the specific places, and then rembered the Gambling Stone trip when she inexplicably...
"You guys stole from Grandpa Kong’s shipnt?" Luo Qianqian frowned deeply.
"It was a ans to an end, and we returned it later, didn’t we?" The man said with a sheepish smile. If it hadn’t been for that, it would have been very difficult to find Luo Qianqian.
