"Then why did you appear in that place?" Sophie Wilson cleverly changed the topic, diverting his attention away from herself.
She couldn’t rember anything, and it wasn’t her fault.
"I was an insider back then," Charles Seymour said, "I entered the company under the guise of a doctor, and you were one of my test subjects."
Sophie blinked innocently and said, "Well, it seems my role as the boss’s sworn sister was just a gimmick."
"Who would truly accept a sister only to make her a test subject? So, I’m really just a poor thing..." Sophie started to feign pity, looking tearfully at Charles Seymour.
It wasn’t that she wanted to be childish, it’s just that Charles’s expression looked scary.
Obviously, she was pitiful enough being sold off and ending up in such a place, he still dared to scare her with a stern face.
What a bad guy!
Charles reached out, placing a big hand on Sophie’s head, gently rubbing, "Poor little thing... I wish I had known you earlier."
"It’s alright, you were the one who rescued in the end, anyway." Sophie quickly forced a big, ingratiating smile.
A stern Charles was still quite frightening... whimper whimper...
After Sophie finished speaking, she suddenly noticed that Charles’s expression had beco even stranger, the ambiguous smile at his lips sent a cold shiver down her spine.
Suddenly, Charles’s handso face leaned in close, startling Sophie, making her shrink back and stamr, "You, you, you, what are you doing?"
"Nothing, just wanted to get a clearer look." Charles slowly straightened back up.
Though he pulled away, Sophie’s heart was still pounding.
Swallowing nervously, she couldn’t shake the feeling that sothing was amiss.
"I wanted to see clearly how soone as young as you managed to contact the training camp and beco an insider," Charles said in a light tone.
But Sophie clearly sensed sothing off, tentatively asking, "Um... are you angry?"
She felt like a storm of anger was swirling around him, suppressed only by his will, otherwise this room would already have been torn apart by tornadoes.
"Yes." Charles didn’t hide it at all, nodding straightforwardly, "Being an insider and collaborating with the training camp people to rescue , going in alone, impressive indeed."
If not for Charles’s stern face, Sophie would have jumped up and shouted "Handso!"
"Well, since I was the company boss’s sworn sister, that... gives an advantage over you as an insider... haha, it’s all past now, let’s not talk about it." Sophie clearly felt the room temperature drop, awkwardly changing the topic.
"Look, all that is in the past. I don’t rember it either, so let’s not talk about it." Sophie smiled, pretending to be relaxed, "That company is destroyed, right? We won’t be in danger anymore, right?"
"Yes." Charles nodded slightly. Did he not realize that Sophie was changing the subject?
But, thinking about everything that happened, the suffering she endured... fine, if she doesn’t want to ntion it, they won’t.
He wasn’t angry about what she did, but angry at himself for not having t her earlier, for not protecting her sooner.
For not falling in love with her from the start.
If he had done so, he wouldn’t have conducted those experints on her.
