"You’re insane!" Erie trembled all over, desperately trying to distance herself from any association with Stephen. "Get out of my way, I’m leaving!"
"Mrs. Walton, all these years, did you know that I’ve always been waiting for you?" Stephen said in a deep voice, "I fell in love with you the mont I saw you. If it weren’t for this love, do you think I would have just raised a child for you for nothing?"
Stephen’s confession not only failed to move Erie but made her feel utterly disgusted instead.
"Who wants your love!" Erie looked at him as if he were a rat in the gutter.
Erie’s attitude imdiately extinguished the few remaining flas of love in Stephen’s heart.
He used to constantly think about Erie, but when Sophie took away his family assets, he realized that money is far more important than any kind of love.
Through inquiries with Ophelia, he found out who he was looking for and ca up with a good way to make money.
He really had to thank a friend of his. He ca here to do business, only his business wasn’t with Benjamin, but with Benjamin’s wife!
"Since Mrs. Walton has said so, I won’t insist," Stephen said with a forced smile. "How about we discuss the daughter I raised?"
"Who’s going to talk with you? Lunatic!" Erie disdainfully waved her arms, trying to shoo Stephen away like a fly. "Get out, get out."
"Mrs. Walton, you’d better not push , otherwise, I don’t know what I might do," Stephen stared at Erie nacingly. Now that he had nothing, what was there he couldn’t do?
"Wha-what are you going to do?" At this mont, Erie truly felt fear and asked, stamring.
"I..."
"Erie, Erie?" Soone was anxiously calling in the corridor.
Erie’s eyes lit up, suddenly bursting with a glimr of hope: "Benjamin, Benjamin, I’m here!"
Stephen looked at Erie mockingly. She was almost fifty, yet still so naïve; was it appropriate to let Benjamin know about such things?
"Erie, what are you doing here?" Benjamin pushed open the balcony door and walked in, casting only a suspicious glance at Stephen without paying much attention.
"Benjamin, let’s go back." Upon seeing Benjamin, Erie finally found soone to rely on and imdiately leaned against him, seeking a sense of security.
"Alright." Benjamin nodded.
"Mr. Walton, I think you should hear what I have to say before you leave." Stephen blocked Benjamin’s path, speaking with a fake smile.
"Benjamin, don’t listen to his nonsense!" Erie said nervously, clutching Benjamin’s arm.
"Mr. Walton, don’t you want to know sothing about your wife?" Stephen gave Erie a aningful glance and asked with a smile.
Benjamin comforted Erie’s hand, which was tightly gripping his arm, giving it a reassuring pat. "Sir, co find at the company tomorrow."
With that, Benjamin handed a business card to Stephen.
"Benjamin!" Erie exclaid in shock. How could he give this man his business card?
"Don’t worry, I’ll handle it." Benjamin whispered, calming Erie before asking, "What’s your na, sir?"
"Stephen," Stephen provided his na.
"Alright then, I’ll be waiting for Mr. Wilson at ten o’clock tomorrow morning at the company." With that, Benjamin helped Erie off the balcony.
