"Mom, I just didn’t want you to worry. By the way, Dad doesn’t know, right?" Jas Reed asked, "Dad’s been too busy lately, so let’s not bother him with my little issues."
"You..." Charlotte Reed affectionately pointed into the air, "Don’t worry, I haven’t told your dad."
"Mr. Reed, thank you this ti." Hayley Cole began speaking.
Only then did Charlotte Reed notice there were others in the room. Turning around, she was startled by the woman dressed for a nightclub and wearing heavy makeup, and asked in surprise, "Jas, who is she?"
"Those thugs originally wanted to bully . It was Mr. Reed who helped out," Hayley Cole said, "Don’t worry, I’ll cover Mr. Reed’s dical and nutritional expenses."
Charlotte Reed didn’t like Hayley Cole’s high-and-mighty attitude, "Does our family lack that little bit of money? Why are you speaking like this?"
"Mom, Miss Cole was just frightened." Jas Reed smiled as he smoothed things over. After calming down Charlotte Reed, he then turned to Hayley Cole and said, "Miss Cole, let’s just drop this. I only did what I should have done. I think if anyone else passed by, they wouldn’t stand by either."
"Everything’s fine on my side now. Is a friend coming to pick you up, or... should my mom and I take you ho?" Jas Reed asked gentlemanly.
"No need, I can get back on my own." Hayley Cole stood up and said to Jas Reed, "Thank you."
Then, after nodding at Charlotte Reed, she just left like that.
"Who is she? Why is she like that?" Charlotte Reed asked in surprise.
"I don’t know her. When I was bringing Ophelia back, I saw her surrounded and unable to get away from a few hooligans, so I went to help." Jas Reed said with a smile.
"Helping soone, and you ended up helping yourself into the hospital?" Charlotte Reed’s voice trembled with concern, "You, oh you, even when rescuing soone, you need to take care of yourself."
Jas Reed laughingly coaxed Charlotte Reed incessantly, and before long, he had coaxed her into laughter.
Listening to the joking between Jas Reed and his mother from the room, Hayley Cole then quietly stepped away.
After picking up the prescribed dication from the doctor, Jas Reed then rode ho with Charlotte Reed.
As soon as they reached Jas Reed’s bedroom, Charlotte Reed anxiously questioned, "Are you crazy? Wasn’t it supposed to be an act? How did you end up actually getting hurt?"
"Mom, without shedding a bit of blood, how would you catch the fish?" Jas Reed said with a smile, "For soone like Hayley Cole, this minor injury is worth it."
"Is that woman really that formidable?" Charlotte Reed asked worriedly, truly afraid that her son had tangled with another useless woman, wasting his efforts.
"Don’t worry, Mom, I’ve investigated everything thoroughly." A strong hate flickered in Jas Reed’s eyes, "I can’t shake Charles Seymour’s status in the business world, so I have to take another route."
This Hayley Cole was the best shortcut he could find right now.
"Did you keep her phone number?" Charlotte Reed asked uneasily, "She seems so cold, can you really win her over?"
Jas Reed laughed and said, "Mom, you’re underestimating your son’s abilities too much."
"I just feel she’s not simple, not like an ordinary girl." Charlotte Reed, after spending just a short ti with Hayley Cole, could feel her aloofness, making her uncomfortable.
