Everyone present knew Old Mr. Seymour well and, naturally, knew whose artworks he loved to collect. Not only are these antiques expensive, but typically, once soone has collected such pieces, they are reluctant to sell them.
It seems Jas really put in a lot of effort to celebrate Old Mr. Seymour’s birthday.
"Dad, this is a rare item, isn’t it?" Ethan Seymour heard the whispers around him and felt imnsely proud.
Look, his son, Jas, is so filial.

"Rare indeed, very rare." Old Mr. Seymour said indifferently. At his age, he didn’t really care much about such items.
Antique jade and such are just for fun.
What might be invaluable to others is just ordinary to him.
Frankly speaking, it’s not like these are one-of-a-kind in the whole world; nothing else can surpass these two gifts, so why should he be excited?
Especially knowing the real intentions behind Jas’s recent attentiveness, he naturally couldn’t be thrilled.
Ethan Seymour was initially very happy, but when he saw Old Mr. Seymour’s lack of interest, he felt a bit unhappy: "Dad, why aren’t you pleased? These gifts represent the sentints of Jas and Ophelia."
Old Mr. Seymour almost laughed from anger hearing this: "What do you an? What should I do? Get up and dance to show how happy I am?"
Old Mr. Seymour’s words almost made Sophie Wilson burst out laughing; this old man is truly amusing.
Sophie thought Old Mr. Seymour was fun like an old mischievous child. However, Ethan didn’t find it amusing at all; instead, he felt quite embarrassed: "Dad, Jas and Ophelia went to great lengths to get this birthday gift for you; your reaction is too calm."
Old Mrs. Seymour couldn’t bear to listen any longer. She snorted and questioned: "What? Shouldn’t they go to great lengths to pick a gift for your father?"
"It was they who wanted to co, not us begging them to!" Old Mrs. Seymour didn’t spare Ethan any face, coldly staring at him, "Today is your father’s birthday banquet; where do you get so much to say? Are you trying to celebrate your father’s birthday or annoy him?"
"No... mom, I just ant that Jas and Ophelia put a lot of thought into the birthday gift; no other intentions." Seeing Old Mrs. Seymour annoyed, Ethan imdiately got flustered and hastily explained.
"You’ve repeated their efforts multiple tis. Are you here to give presents or to claim credit?" Old Mrs. Seymour wasn’t about to let Ethan off easily, questioning him sternly.
When she was young, Old Mrs. Seymour supported Old Mr. Seymour in building the Seymour Corporation empire. When she puts on a stern face, it’s a silent display of authority, quite intimidating.
"No, no..." Ethan hurriedly waved his hands, indicating he wasn’t trying to claim credit.
The guests in the banquet hall secretly snickered; Ethan was overly eager to perform.
It’s because he felt threatened by Charles Seymour, so he tried hard to make Old Mr. and Mrs. Seymour accept Jas quickly. Unfortunately, by doing so... it really wasn’t very dignified.
The items are indeed good, but... the underlying intent behind the gifts is too obvious, which instead makes people resentful.
