The last few words, Ethan swallowed them back for the sake of his dignity. Even so, his chest ached with anger.
"Dad, I want to find out the truth," Jas Reed said despondently, his whole deanor listless and lacking energy.
"You..." Ethan wanted to scold him a bit more, but seeing Jas in this state, he just couldn’t bring himself to do it.
In the end, he could only fling his hand and turn to leave.
Charlotte Reed made sure Ethan had left, closed the door, and then asked in a low voice, "Jas, what exactly is going on? How did it get to this point?"
Clearly before leaving this morning, Jas had subtly nodded to her, didn’t that an everything was arranged and there was no problem?
"Mom, I want to see Ophelia." Jas didn’t want to say much; he was very tired, extrely exhausted.
He wished he could just wrap himself in a blanket and sleep for days and nights. However, he knew that now was not the ti to sleep; he needed to handle the matter with Ophelia Wilson, or it would really beco troubleso.
Charlotte looked at Jas, all her words swallowed back down, nodded, and said, "Alright."
Ophelia Wilson hadn’t gone far. She had co to the hospital with the ambulance. However, a mont ago, Ethan was so furious that upon seeing her, he wished he could tear her apart, so she hid in the stairwell.
At this mont, when Charlotte found Ophelia and told her that Jas wanted to see her, Ophelia hurried to Jas’s ward.
"Jas," Ophelia called out softly when she saw the sowhat sickly Jas.
"Ophelia," Jas looked at Ophelia and remained quite calm as he asked, "What on earth is going on?"
Ophelia gasped, looking at Jas.
Jas’s gaze was calm, looking at her steadily, his eyes full of trust, waiting for her explanation.
The more Jas was like this, the more Ophelia’s heart trembled.
"Jas, things aren’t what you saw," Ophelia tried hard to explain.
Jas nodded, with a relieved smile on his face, he said, "I just knew that it couldn’t possibly be you."
The snapshot on that printed paper had a recording ti on it. At the mont, Jas naturally couldn’t recognize it clearly, but last night when he watched the video, he scrutinized it carefully, missing not a single detail.
"We’re about to get married, how could you do such a thing?" Jas took a deep breath and said indignantly, "I’ll find a lawyer right now and sue those who spread rumors and manipulated those things!"
"Jas, no!" Ophelia cried out in surprise to stop him.
Jas was taken aback, looking at Ophelia in confusion, "Why not?"
Seeing Ophelia’s pale complexion, Jas smiled weakly and encouraged her, "Ophelia, you don’t have to be afraid, I’m here. I’ll make sure those who frad you get the punishnt they deserve, don’t worry."
Jas’s genuine feelings made Ophelia unable to hold back her tears.
Within these tears was regret; why hadn’t she gathered more people to deal with Sophie Wilson at the ti?
If she had, today’s situation wouldn’t have happened.
Why didn’t she take care of Sophie Wilson as soon as she found out about her existence?
Ophelia regretted, hated, but unfortunately, there was nothing she could change now.
