"But, what but?" Master Fong’s scar moved disdainfully along with his expression, "The manager said he wants to assign an assistant, but I don’t have the patience for that."

Then he looked at Gu Qiaoqiao, "Your Ah Ze knows what kind of person I am. I co here to be the head chef purely out of personal interest."

Of course, that’s just on the surface; he actually has another very important identity.

And that identity, except for Qin Yize, no one knows.

So he won’t take any assistant, nor will he take on any apprentices.

Because doing so could very well bring him trouble.

Gu Qiaoqiao opened her mouth slightly, a layer of moisture quietly surfaced in her eyes.

Her misty eyes looked at Qin Yize, unblinking.

Qin Yize didn’t understand why, and he looked at her too, his gaze filled with inquiry.

Gu Qiaoqiao slightly raised her head.

Blinked hard a couple of tis, then said dryly, "Master Fong, I just think it’s a bit of a pity not to take on an apprentice."

"What’s there to pity? You take on one of those, and they follow you around every day, annoying you to death..." Master Fong said impatiently.

Gu Qiaoqiao closed her mouth.

Qin Yize looked at Gu Qiaoqiao and, smiling, said, "Let Master Fong go to the kitchen and give a few instructions, he’ll be over in a mont."

Then he patted Master Fong on the shoulder and said, "I drove here today, so I can’t drink with you, but we’ll have a good drink so other day."

Master Fong frowned, looking at Qin Yize displeased, "No, you have to drink with today, it’s been ages since we last t. You can leave your car at the Lijing Ho, and take a cab back with Qiaoqiao."

Qin Yize thought for a mont, he still had a day off.

So he readily nodded, "Alright."

Master Fong looked at Gu Qiaoqiao and joked, "Qiaoqiao, you don’t mind Ah Ze drinking, do you?"

Gu Qiaoqiao smiled gently, "I don’t mind Ah Ze drinking with Master Fong."

Master Fong was very satisfied, patted Qin Yize on the shoulder, and strode towards the kitchen, then Gu Qiaoqiao and Qin Yize also left the head chef’s office.

The two of them walked slowly together.

It was dinner ti now, and the kitchen was already bustling.

The two didn’t speak, Gu Qiaoqiao pretended to look at things on the side, feigning curiosity, but her heart was in turmoil.

Gu Qiaoqiao didn’t know, in her previous life, how much effort Qin Yize put in so that she could have a place to settle down?

She thought she had beco Master Fong’s assistant, the head chef’s assistant, on her own rits.

But only today did she realize, her rits might not be the sole reason.

There might have been a reason involving Qin Yize.

Thinking back, Qin Yize wanted her to have a true place to establish herself. Being the head chef’s assistant, she not only had a skill that made her firmly standing in Lijing Ho Hotel, but it also unknowingly gave her great confidence psychologically.

Otherwise, being just a female cook at the stove might still leave Gu Qiaoqiao feeling sad and desperate.

But as the head chef’s assistant, it’s different.

The salary is not only higher, but in the kitchen, except for the head chef, she’s the highest authority.

Those master chefs, assistant chefs, or pastry chefs, the helpers, and the prep cooks all co under her managent.

And Gu Qiaoqiao didn’t expect that the truth was, Master Fong wasn’t interested in having an assistant or taking on an apprentice at all.

Earlier he refused so firmly, leaving no room for negotiation.

It seems he won’t change his mind now, nor in the future.
