While the activity was meaningful, the exhaustion was real. The stray cats and dogs hadn’t been cleaned before, and they really didn’t smell good. If it wasn’t for the true love for those animals, it would have been tough to endure the whole afternoon.
"But it seems like next week’s event isn’t the same. It sounds like a visit to the orphanage, which I think is even more meaningful than today’s. I want to participate."

"I live right across from Zhenzhen’s dorm room. Yan Keke started planning this charity event last year; I’ve heard her talk about it several times. I thought she was just joking because which student would do this, right? But to my surprise, she actually got it started this year."
Hearing this, some felt relieved. "I also think this is quite meaningful. I was afraid it would end after one or two times. This is better; as long as it doesn’t interfere with classes, I’m up for participating any Sunday I’m free."
"Why do you like participating in these activities so much?"
"I’m just bored, and besides, it’s a chance to make friends. Would we have met if not for this event?"
Altogether, there were 21 participants in the event, 8 males and 13 females. Indeed, it was a natural place to make friends, and it didn’t cost a penny.
Although the motives might not be purely altruistic, it made sense. It bined doing good deeds with making friends. Why not?
"However, is this charity event really organized by Mei Mengzhen, or is it Yan Keke? Why is it under the name of Mei Mengzhen but organized by Yan Keke? Or are they doing it together?"
"Why do you care so much? As long as it’s for a good cause, we’re not losing out."
"But, I’m just curious."
As they were talking, Yan Keke and another guy who drove her arrived a step late and took their seats.
Yan Keke’s hands were still not empty; she had prepared mementos for everyone. They weren’t anything expensive but were very meaningful.
"Did you guys order yet? Just eat whatever you want, don’t be shy."
"We’ve ordered, we’ve ordered," the group teased, "and we definitely weren’t shy."
The hot pot here wasn’t expensive, and even with two tables eating their fill, it wouldn’t cost much. Naturally, Yan Keke was worried that people might feel shy about ordering and then feel hungry later on. After spending money without being satisfied, if they plained, that wouldn’t be good. Thus, she added a few more plates of meat to each table and then sat down.
After adding food, she also took out the souvenirs, which were small badges and certificates. Of course, they weren’t very formal, but the certificates did have the pany’s stamp. Anyone who had participated in the activity would get one, and it would be the same in the future.
"This is the souvenir for our event. It’s not worth much, but it’s meant to be a keepsake. It’s precisely because of everyone’s participation that our charity event successfully concluded. I want to express my sincere gratitude to all of you for participating."
It has to be said, Yan Keke did a surprisingly good job, even by her own standards.

After dinner, walking briskly, Yan Keke returned to her dorm and saw that both Mei Mengzhen and He Yiran were already back. She couldn’t resist showing off the day’s achievements.
"Zhenzhen, Yiran, I did a spectacular job today. The charity event went off without a hitch from start to finish," said Yan Keke, looking for praise, which made Mei Mengzhen blush once again.
"You did great, Keke. So, what did you all do today?"
He Yiran held back a laugh, "I want to hear too. Did you take pictures? Let me see them."
Yan Keke said, "We did, we did. We took pictures from start to finish, even a big group photo. We took another at the hot pot restaurant at the school’s gate. I just felt too embarrassed to bring out the banner. It was too flashy."
Mei Mengzhen breathed a sigh of relief in her heart. Thank goodness they didn’t e out—the hot pot restaurant by the school gate. If they had, she would never go there again.
He Yiran looked at the pictures on Yan Keke’s camera. The photos indeed looked professional. "It would’ve been better if it wasn’t under my name," she thought. Such a good event.
She would have participated in such a meaningful event, but now she was just too embarrassed.
However, Mei Mengzhen said, "Keke, you must not post about this on the forum, please don’t."
Yan Keke was taken aback, "Why not?"
The photos she had taken today were already shared in the small group chat during the meal. It had been a while now, and it was possible that someone had already posted them on the forum, but she didn’t say this.
"If you post it, I’m going to bee famous again."
Yan Keke shifted her gaze, then said, "Oh, I actually posted the photos in the group chat a while ago. Everybody was asking for them; luckily, we had a guy with a laptop, and I had my card reader on me, so I transferred them and sent them out. Everyone must have had a copy by the time we were eating."
He Yiran said, "Perhaps there’s already a post about this on the forum. Good, very good." She could not help but laugh, "Zhenzhen, sometimes that’s just how life is. What you fear most tends to happen. The more you don’t want something, the more you get it. Why don’t we relax and check the forum now?"
Neither He Yiran nor the other two were in the habit of constantly checking the forum, and they had just returned from Xiyuan, so they hadn’t had the chance to check it. Mei Mengzhen said listlessly, "I hope not."
But deep down, both she and the others knew, "That’s impossible."
The three of them opened the forum and, without a doubt, the post about the event was hotly pinned to the top. Mei Mengzhen glanced at the time of the post, "Posted at 6:37 PM."
Yan Keke thought for a moment and said, "Yes, that’s right. We were having dinner then. These people are amazing—they eat, chat, and post on the forum all at the same time. Can someone really multitask like that? I can’t; I can only do one thing at a time. Either I concentrate on eating or I focus on studying, but I can’t do both at once."
