Wu Yun followed Wen ng to Building 4.
In his past life, Wu Yun had walked this path for four years; he couldn’t have been more familiar with it. The only difference was that all the buildings looked much newer now.
Carrying his duvet and cover, Wu Yun trailed behind Wen ng, seeing familiar faces everywhere along the way.
The mont Wen ng stepped into the n’s dormitory, many of the hormonal freshn couldn’t stop staring at her.
Wu Yun noticed that many of the freshn behind him on the stairs had slowed their pace.
Room 404.
A set of parents was already inside.
Wen ng pushed open the half-closed door for Wu Yun. He expertly tossed his bedding onto his bunk, climbed up, and quickly made his bed. Only then did he take a good look at the people in the room.
Their room was a quad, with loft beds over desks and wardrobes.
Seeing a familiar figure making the bed across from his, Wu Yun smiled. It was the sa roommates from his past life. Though they had all gone their separate ways after graduation and rarely kept in touch, their dorm life had been very harmonious.
In his past life, Wu Yun had arrived late, after everyone else was already settled in.
That was why he’d never t Pang Guang’s parents. Seeing them now, Wu Yun finally understood why Pang Guang had studied so hard in college, diligently earning certifications and winning scholarships every single year. It was only after Pang Guang got into graduate school that they had lost contact.
The middle-aged couple looked older than their years. Their faces were weathered and wrinkled, and their clothes, while clean and tidy, were clearly well-worn.
Pang Guang’s father had thick knuckles and calloused hands, the unmistakable signs of a life of hard labor.
After Pang Guang spread his bedsheet, his mother pulled a still-new-looking pillow from a large, striped nylon bag on the floor and handed it up to him.
Wu Yun saw Wen ng wiping down his desk and chair but didn’t say anything to her. Instead, he walked over to the middle-aged man just as Pang Guang climbed down from his bunk.
"Hello, sir, ma’am! Hello, classmate. I’m Wu Yun, from Business Managent, Class One," Wu Yun said, taking the initiative to greet them.
"Hello," the middle-aged man grunted, then fell silent.
Pang Guang just nodded without speaking.
It was Pang Guang’s mother who replied warmly, "Hello, young man. Where are you from?"
"Ma’am, I’m from Jingyang."
"From now on, we’ll be counting on you to look after our Pang Guang. He’s never been much of a talker, just like his father—it takes them forever to say anything. Please don’t mind him. He’s a man of few words, but he’s a very diligent person," Pang Guang’s mother explained, worried his new roommates would get the wrong impression.
Then she added, "Wu Yun, please include him in your activities. Ai, Pang Guang has always been very reserved. We work in Rongcheng, which is why we had the chance to bring him to register today."
"Of course, ma’am. Don’t you worry."
Just as Wu Yun was about to say more, the dorm room door was pushed open. A tall figure stood in the doorway, blocking most of the light from outside.
Wu Yun was already 180 cm tall, but this person was half a head taller.
"Hello, sir, ma’am! Hello, classmates! I’m Liu Yongheng, from Bingzhou in Jin Province!" Liu Yongheng announced in very standard Mandarin as he walked in, dragging a suitcase and a large bag of cotton batting.
"Hello! I’m Wu Yun, and he’s Pang Guang," Wu Yun replied in Mandarin, knowing that the current Liu Yongheng wouldn’t be able to understand the Sichuan dialect very well.
The current Wu Yun was no longer the clueless Xiaobai from his past life who knew nothing about luxury goods. Recognizing that Liu Yongheng’s clothes and pants were the sa styles sold in high-end boutiques, he knew Liu Yongheng’s family was indeed very wealthy. No wonder he had been so generous in their previous life, yet never showed off. It had made Wu Yun and the others think he was just being low-key.
The reality was that the Wu Yun of his past life was simply ignorant and couldn’t recognize luxury brands even when they were worn right in front of him.
Liu Yongheng’s eyes landed on the gorgeous woman with a bombshell figure in a T-shirt and shorts, who was wiping down a desk and wardrobe for Wu Yun. He glanced at Wu Yun’s own understated clothes and shot him an envious look.
"Wu Yun, Liu, we’re heading out now. We’ll leave Pang Guang in your care!" Pang Guang’s mother said to the two of them after she finished helping her son unpack.
After Pang Guang’s parents left, Liu Yongheng laughed. "Wu Yun, you’re the man! School hasn’t even started and you’ve already got a girlfriend! A true role model for our generation! You’ll have to share so tips later on how to land a girlfriend this beautiful!"
"Sure thing. I’ll have her introduce you to her classmates from the dance departnt!" Wu Yun chuckled, then turned to tease Pang Guang. "Pang Guang, don’t be so quiet, or you’ll never find a girlfriend! Want to introduce you to soone?"
"She’s an upperclassman?!" Liu Yongheng’s voice jumped a few octaves.
Hearing their conversation, Wen ng turned and smiled at Liu Yongheng.
"Bro! Wu Yun, from now on, you’re my big bro! My treat tonight. Have your upperclassman friend bring her friends and let’s all go out to eat!" Liu Yongheng said, his eyes sparkling.
Liu Yongheng was tall and rather handso. In his past life, he had gone through so many girlfriends in college you couldn’t count them on two hands.
It seed Liu Yongheng had co to college with the intention of just having fun, choosing a school where the mountains are high and the emperor is far away.
"Nah, with your qualifications, being at a teachers’ college is like being a rat in a granary. You’ll have your pick."
As soon as Wu Yun finished speaking, he heard Wen ng say from behind him, "That’s right. You’d better be careful, Liu. Your picture is probably already making the rounds in certain school group chats."
Liu Yongheng got excited at the thought. "So, are there any other girls in your dance departnt as beautiful and with a figure as amazing as yours?"
Hearing this, Pang Guang, who was sitting on a nearby chair, also looked up at Wen ng for a mont before lowering his head again.
"There are, but you can’t have your cake and eat it too. And the rest are already spoken for!" ’Co to think of it,’ she thought, ’there isn’t anyone in my year in the dance departnt who’s on my level. The ones who co close are all being chased by rich second-generation kids.’
"Liu Yongheng, with your looks and all, you’re telling you didn’t have a girlfriend in high school?" Wu Yun asked, curious.
"I did, but it was purely a eting of the minds. What I need now is so... physical nourishnt," Liu Yongheng said, wiggling his eyebrows at Wu Yun.
"Oh, that’s easy. I can take you to experience a one-night romance!" Wu Yun joked, right in front of Wen ng.
Liu Yongheng stared at Wu Yun in surprise. He couldn’t believe he dared to say sothing like that in front of his girlfriend. Weren’t n from Sichuan all supposed to be henpecked? This guy didn’t seem like it at all.
Wen ng just smiled without a word. She leaned in and whispered in Wu Yun’s ear, "Junior, are those unclean won outside really more appealing than your upperclassman?"
Feeling her warm breath and catching her scent, Wu Yun wrapped an arm around Wen ng’s waist. "Of course not. Nothing’s more appealing than you. Besides, I’m not familiar with Rongcheng, so how would I even know where to find those places?"
"I’m familiar with Rongcheng!" a sowhat effeminate voice called out from the doorway.
