Hu Biao came back and called his wife to e for a meal; everyone was gathered, yet his wife dawdled and didn’t show up. He was surprised; usually, she’d be the first to think of a free meal, so what was up today?
Nobody had told him what had happened today.
"e on, hurry and bring Huzi with you; everyone’s here already. If you don’t e and help cook, do you really expect to be asked three or four times?" Hu Biao scolded his wife in his blustery way.
Wei clutched Huzi tightly, "I’m not going! Just bring me back a box of dumplings."
Not going didn’t mean not eating; surely there were tasty dishes today.
She had known since today that they were to crash the doctor’s place... no, it was a gathering, and she hadn’t eaten all day, not even lunch, staying hungry just waiting for it. Now if she didn’t eat her fill, that would be too unfair to her stomach.
Well, Hu Biao really did marry a good wife!
"What are you talking about? Who goes to someone’s house for a meal and brings food back for their family? Stop embarrassing me and hurry up; don’t keep everyone waiting." Grabbing Huzi, Huzi giggled and clung to Hu Biao’s neck, babbling.
"Dad, I want to eat dumplings and also pig’s trotters!"
This child was indeed Wei’s own; even the foodie trait was inherited. His mom hadn’t fed him enough at noon, letting his stomach stay empty for this evening’s meal. Otherwise, the child wouldn’t have begged for cookies earlier when he was hungry!
"Alright, Daddy will take you to eat dumplings and pig’s trotters!" Hu Biao felt sorry for his son and turned to scold Wei.
"Look how hungry you’ve made the child. Didn’t you cook for him at noon?"

Wei said angrily, "My son and I won’t go; you go by yourself. Just bring us back a box of dumplings. Oh, and add that pig trotter, chicken, and whatever else you can get."
Of course, she wouldn’t forget how Doctor Bai had treated her just now. Now she had to go back for a meal, letting those women laugh at her?
Although she craved the food, she had her pride.
"Didn’t I say if you want to eat, go there and eat? Who ever heard of carrying food in boxes back to their own house?" Hu Biao was furious; why wouldn’t this woman listen to reason now?
Wei took Huzi back into her arms, "Why can’t I take it? Just now, the Director’s daughter was packing dumplings for her mom; I saw it myself, a big box of them. Why can’t you do the same? My child and I didn’t go to their house, just a box of dumplings, what’s the big deal? If the Director can have food taken home why can’t you? Besides, didn’t you say these were favors from your old bosses?"
Hu Biao was truly furious this time.
"The Director’s wife is bedridden at home; don’t you know that? Taking a box of dumplings to her is just proper. They can’t just eat here while sister-in-law starves in bed. Aren’t you ashamed paring yourself to a sick person?"

She sent your wife and son packing back home, and you still expect me to shamelessly go and eat there. Are you going to carry it or not?" Wei was prepared to make a scene.
