Hooligan?
Prince Pu’s face turned completely dark. How could the eldest young master of the dignified Prince Pu’s Mansion be mistaken for a hooligan?
The steward who ca along couldn’t hold back upon hearing this and shouted at Miss Zhang, "What nonsense are you spouting, young lady? Hooligan? That happens to be our young master!"
The bystanders, who had no idea what was going on at first, were suddenly intrigued.
Once the steward shouted like that, the crowd exploded into an uproar.
The eldest young master of Prince Pu’s Mansion was notorious in the Capital. His reputation as a playboy preceded him—frequenting brothels of all scales, spending money like water, and chasing every flower in sight. But now, he had apparently escalated to harassing proper won. This was outrageous. And yet here was Prince Pu, brazenly showing up to demand an explanation. The nerve!
The murmured discussions of the crowd carried clearly into Prince Pu’s ears.
Prince Pu’s expression grew darker and darker.
He cast a fierce glare at the steward. Was the man’s brain broken? Prince Pu would have rather buried this shaful incident, yet here was the steward shouting so loudly, as if fearful that the entire world wouldn’t know about it.
The steward realized he had made a blunder and imdiately stood there aghast, trembling, not daring to utter another word.
Prince Pu made an effort to calm his tone as much as possible. "Young lady, Haohao is not that kind of person. Though he may act frivolous at tis, his heart is kind. Could there be so misunderstanding between you two?"
"Misunderstanding?"
Miss Zhang blinked, montarily at a loss for words. The other party had already chased her down and even laid hands on her, yet here was Prince Pu telling bald-faced lies, calling it a misunderstanding.
Prince Pu raised his voice. "That’s right, just a misunderstanding."
Miss Zhang turned to glance at Wealthy Master Zhang beside her, unsure how to respond.
Wealthy Master Zhang, being a businessman with quick wits, promptly nodded in agreent. "Prince Pu is right, just a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding."
An individual like a Prince was not soone ordinary folks like them could cross. If he wanted to save face, then fine, let him have it.
However, Wealthy Master Zhang underestimated Prince Pu. He thought backing down would resolve matters, but the Prince showed no intention of letting it slide and only pressed further.
The prelude was over.
Even the murmurs from the onlookers had faded.
Prince Pu straightened his face and declared, "Miss Zhang, you have gone too far. Of all the things you could have done, how could you let a wolfhound attack my Haohao, nearly costing him his life? How could you be so cruel?"
Miss Zhang hesitated. "This..."
The truth was, after being harassed by Tang Jinghao yesterday, she had been so shaken that she hid in her room, trembling in fear. She had no idea Tang Jinghao was nearly mauled to death by a wolfhound. His servants had quickly carried him away, leaving her completely unaware of the incident.
The steward, eager to redeem himself after his earlier misstep, imdiately chid in, "Exactly! Our young master was in critical condition all night before pulling through. Miss Zhang, you were far too harsh. Our young master is the only heir of our family. Had sothing happened to him, how would our Prince and Princess Consort live for the rest of their lives?"
Faced with the accusations from both Prince Pu and his steward,
Miss Zhang panicked. She instinctively reached out to tug on the sleeve of Wealthy Master Zhang beside her, looking utterly lost as she called out, "Father."
Wealthy Master Zhang asked, "Prince, what exactly do you want?"
Prince Pu pondered for a mont. Since his son liked this young lady enough to risk his life for her, why not take this opportunity to arrange the marriage? After all, n taking multiple wives or concubines was hardly unusual.
