The county magistrate was a young talent who had passed the Juren examinations and finally beca a seventh rank low ranking official after much difficulty.
Having been in office for less than a month, during the period when new officials assert their authority, Old Lady Mo happened to lodge a complaint. He seed to have found a target and was determined to achieve sothing significant, worthy of his ten-plus years of dedicated study.
Thus, he personally brought governnt officials to Mo Family Village to arrest people, vowing to correct the prevailing misconduct.
"Elderly one, please don't stand on ceremony. As the parental official, I must stand up for the people." Since entering the village, the county magistrate had not yet dismounted from his tall horse. He sat there, looking down at Old Lady Mo with a righteous air as he spoke.
Old Lady Mo addressing him as "High Official" made him particularly pleased.
The village head was extrely anxious. Although he knew the county magistrate was annoyed by him, he had no choice but to courageously step forward in order to prevent them from taking Madam Xie away: "Great Master, you really can't take Madam Xie. Do you know who she is?"
"Of course, Great Master knows. She is your lover." The county magistrate replied sarcastically, then stated with great authority, "Anyone who dares to obstruct shall be executed without rcy."
These words were clearly directed at the village head.
"Such bold words, a seventh rank low ranking official dares to say 'executed without rcy'?"
Suddenly, a cold voice of a woman rang out from the crowd.
The county magistrate looked around from a high vantage point...
In the crowd, there was a woman dressed in a white gauze garnt, giving off an impression of clarity and transparency. Her shoulders were draped with a light purple shawl. As the wind blew, she seed like a Heavenly Immortal descending to the mortal world, her well-proportioned figure paired with flawless features resembling a fairy untainted by mortal life.
The county magistrate was captivated, thinking to himself that a golden Phoenix had erged from this remote small town.
After a while, he ca back to his senses, looked around, and saw everyone staring at him. He quickly cleared his throat and asked in a forced calm tone, "Who are you? Why do you not kneel before ?"
"Kneel to you?"
Xuexue glanced at him with disdain, slightly parted her red lips, and arrogantly replied, "You are not qualified."
Earlier, Xuexue and Zi Xia had just returned from town. As soon as they entered the village, they heard people talking, realizing there was a problem at ho. They hurried back to see their foster mother being forcefully restrained by two governnt officials, which made her very angry and hence her words were sharp.
The surrounding villagers had expressions of amusent.
The county magistrate's face turned awkward, and he couldn't help but shout authoritatively, "Bold unruly person, seeing this Old Master and not kneeling, what cri do you deserve?"
Although good won are pursued by gentlen, the situation wasn't right, and the county magistrate got angry.
The village head stepped forward, intending to explain Xuexue's identity to the county magistrate.
Xuexue stopped him, "Uncle Village Chief, it's enough that you're helping our family at this mont. Xuexue is already very grateful. Don't worry about the rest; leave it to ."
"But there are many of them and you are just a girl. Won't you be at a disadvantage? If sothing happens to you, how could I explain to the General?"
"Don't worry, they won't dare to act."
The two people chatted as if no one else was there, making the county magistrate's face turn very unsightly.
Well, he was a poor scholar who had finally managed to enter the officialdom by enduring great pressure on his family through thriftiness. Perhaps during his ti at the private school, he was often mocked, making his self-esteem very sensitive. If anyone slightly ignored him, he assud they looked down on him.
