The steward hadn’t walked in yet and was already shocked. What have these unruly people done? What is this Petition of the People? What’s happening here?
To figure out the situation, the steward swaggered over to the commoners with a haughty gait, lifted his face, and pointed his nose to the sky: "Hey, hey, hey! I’m asking you all."
An old man, full of smiles, replied, "Steward, what’s the matter?"
The steward gave him a sideways glance and said, "What Petition of the People were you talking about just now? What’s going on?"
The old man said in surprise, "Steward, don’t you know?"
"What do I know?" The steward looked bewildered.
"The Pri Minister sending people to attack the War Prince’s Mansion, are you daring to say you don’t know?"
"What attack on the War Prince’s Mansion?" The steward couldn’t understand at all.
Indeed, the attack on the War Prince’s Mansion was top secret; it’s understandable that a re steward wouldn’t know.
"You don’t know? Really? You’re in cahoots with the Pri Minister. Didn’t the Pri Minister tell you?" The steward’s ignorance caused everyone to doubt.
"Go, go, go, that’s nonsense. I’m asking you, what Petition of the People were you talking about just now? What exactly happened?"
"The Pri Minister intends to assassinate the War Prince. We can’t stand it, so we’re making a Petition of the People to complain to The Emperor." The commoners were straightforward and didn’t know to keep secrets, revealing the plan in an instant.
"What? You... you unruly people, dare to accuse the Pri Minister?" The steward stared in disbelief; these mud legs, apart from farming, squatting by the streets doing small trades for three als a day, dare to offend the almighty Pri Minister? Their guts are fat enough.
"He’s trying to assassinate the War Prince, so we dare to accuse him."
"You... you wait, I’ll have the Pri Minister skin you all." The steward trembled with anger and, knowing such explosive news, had to hurry back to report it to the Pri Minister.
The steward dashed towards the mansion, and due to urgency, didn’t notice underfoot and tripped over sothing...
"Oh my! Mother of mine!"
It turned out that at the gate, too many corpses were piled, and a foot from one stretched out. The steward accidentally fell face-first into the pile of corpses. When he regained his senses, he opened his eyes to see a pair of lifeless eyes magnified in front of him, staring at him hollowly. Frightened, he scrambles out of the pile and bolts towards the mansion, slipping along the way.
The commoners couldn’t help bursting into laughter upon seeing this.
Upon hearing the news was exposed, the Pri Minister spun in panic; the War Prince is not soone to be trifled with. Now it’s corpses being sent; who knows what’s next?
So, the uneasy Pri Minister simply stood up, clasped his hands behind, paced back and forth in the hall, pondering counterasures.
"Pri Minister, it’s bad, it’s bad." The steward rushed in.
"Say ’bad’ one more ti, and believe it or not, I’ll cut your tongue out?" Already out of luck, these dog servants aren’t helping by saying ominous things, only causing more trouble.
The steward hastily covered his mouth with his hands, not daring to make a sound.
The Pri Minister glared at him and asked, "What’s going on? All panicky."
The steward lowered his hand and said: "No...!"
Just as he uttered a word, the Pri Minister glared fiercely at him. The steward imdiately woke up and quickly covered his mouth with both hands again. He knew better than to risk his tongue when the Pri Minister was in a foul mood.
