Jiang Ning strutted out of Dongdong’s house holding a toy horse, leaving Dongdong lying on the ground wailing and making ghostly cries, pitiful enough to evoke sympathy.
Xue Yuantong grinned, continuously praising him: "Jiang Ning, you’re amazing, simply the strongest fighter under the heavens!"
"Much stronger than any bodyguard!"
Jiang Ning’s lips curled into a smile, his steps paused, even considering tidying up Dongdong once more, performing a set of cool moves.
Seeing the movent of the fierce deity, Dongdong imdiately knelt down, crying and begging for rcy: "Please, don’t hit again, I’ll definitely listen to you!"
Jiang Ning thought about it and decided against it; after all, there’s a thing as too much. He could practice his skills again in a few days.
He carried the toy horse all the way to the empty space outside; the little girl was still there as her horse was snatched away by soone even more wicked.
Unexpectedly, Jiang Ning waved his hand and gave the toy horse back to her.
After taking the toy horse, the little girl seed startled and quickly ran away.
Jiang Ning was indifferent, thinking that one should do good deeds without worrying about the future.
Xue Yuantong muttered: "Dongdong doesn’t know what thod he used to snatch her toy, so despicable!"
Jiang Ning comforted: "It’s okay, his good days are still ahead."
After punishing the naughty kid, the two returned ho. As soon as Xue Yuantong stepped into the kitchen, she slled a strong aroma since Aunt Gu had just finished cooking dinner.
Hua Fengi saw the pair, big and small, and found the scene harmonious yet sowhat not.
Her facial lines softened: "You guys beat up Dongdong again? I heard the noise from inside the house, oh, you shouldn’t hit other people’s kids like that..."
Aunt Gu calmly said, "Deserved it."
During the previous New Year’s, Dongdong threw a lit firecracker in front of her daughter, if she hadn’t covered her daughter’s ears, she would’ve been startled for sure.
That kind of ill-mannered child, if it weren’t for the fat old lady protecting him, Aunt Gu would definitely have given him a beating.
She knew too well the evil rooted in Dongdong.
Xue Yuantong imdiately grinned: "Mom, you didn’t see it, Jiang Ning was super aweso, he kicked Dongdong into the wall!"
Listening to Tongtong describe his greatness, Jiang Ning kept his achievents hidden, smiling slightly.
After hearing this, Aunt Gu felt satisfied; Dongdong was now so big and strong, rough in force, surely troubleso for her daughter’s strength to handle.
If it weren’t for Jiang Ning, who knows if she would be bullied every day!
Aunt Gu knew all too well that at this age, evil kids only grow in size, not in brain; they don’t understand the consequences of their actions, and once they go on a reckless spree, anything can happen.
Aunt Gu said: "Don’t make them bleed, keep it from being obvious to the eye."
Otherwise, the fat old lady would be difficult to explain to.
Xue Yuantong: "Don’t worry, mom, Jiang Ning is very asured when he acts."
Hua Fengi listening to their conversation, sohow felt like she was part of a den of villains?
Aunt Gu noticed her peculiar expression and casually ntioned a couple of bad things Dongdong had done, like destroying Uncle Tang’s carefully built shed and playing a groundhog-stomping ga in the vegetable patch.
In just a few short sentences, Hua Fengi’s anger level spiked crazily.
Thankfully, dinner ti arrived quickly.
Today’s dinner was relatively simple, with homade stead buns and sweet potato rice soup as the main course.
There were three dishes: clay pot bass, shrimp and vermicelli hotpot.
The last one looked particularly healthy, which was stir-fried loofah tips. They were a vibrant green; with a few strands in one chopstick’s worth, they were especially crispy and fresh.
Tongtong’s favorite was the shrimp and vermicelli hotpot; she tore the bun open and stuffed it with shrimp and vermicelli soaked in plenty of soup, then closed the bun, creating her own version of a burger.
One bite was filled with tender shrimp, soft vermicelli, and the bun soaked in rich soup; the taste was indescribable.
Then she’d sip so sweet potato rice soup, warming the whole body.
As Tongtong and Jiang Ning ate, Aunt Gu and Hua Fengi would chat about life and work.
"Sister Gu, your hotown’s east side, Little An’s family, has now moved to Su City, heard they bought a house in the urban area, doing quite well." Hua Fengi ntioned.
"Little An, his family is quite nice. Once when I was late coming back from selling vegetables at the market, Tongtong was hungry at ho and went to play at Di Di’s house. They said they were just eating and shooed Tongtong away. It was Little An’s family who invited Tongtong for lunch." Sister Gu said.
Jiang Ning glanced at Tongtong, indicating ’Did you really just go to play?’
Tongtong was unphased, firmly saying: "Di Di’s family al is so tasteless, even Uncle Zhang’s Xiao Ben probably wouldn’t eat it!"
’Alright then, probably really just went to play.’ Jiang Ning confird.
Hua Fengi: "Di Di’s family has two kids not studying anymore; the four of them are working in Wen City, and all the money his daughter earns is taken by his mother, saved entirely for her son, saying it’s for marrying a wife in the future."
This situation is fairly common in Hui Province, as it’s quite difficult for rural n to find wives since the number of boys overall exceeds that of girls.
The reasons for this are preferential treatnt for sons and so rules; if the first child is a daughter, they can have another; if the first is a son, they aren’t allowed to have more, otherwise risking fines and trouble.
Looking ahead another ten years, for rural n in Hui Province, finding wives will beco increasingly difficult, though it’s not as bad as Jiangxi Province’s 380,000.
Aunt Gu: "That family isn’t worth much, looking down on others."
Hua Fengi: "True that."
Jiang Ning and Tongtong listened to them gossip about nearby affairs while eating, finding it quite interesting. It had a very lively feel, much nicer than eating takeout alone.
Tongtong finished her dinner and imdiately slipped away, sneaking to Jiang Ning’s warm little room. First, she turned on the computer, then called Chuchu over WeChat video.
