Chapter 261: Chapter 226 Move_2 Chapter 261: Chapter 226 Move_2 October was the ti to harvest peanuts, and it was scorching hot. Her father would often set up a big umbrella at the edge of the field, where she would hide under it, watching her family mbers work under the sun, picking peanuts.

Before setting out each ti, Xue Yuantong would always fill a small bottle with water from their well.

The well water in sumr was cool. Her family forbade her from drinking raw water, but she would secretly drink it, and it was a supre delight when paired with a spicy strip.

Xue Yuantong heard that in the village, there was a family whose well water had a sweet taste and was particularly good, but she was too young then and didn’t have the courage to go to soone else’s house to ask for water.

In her childhood, she would take the small bottle to the fields to wait for her parents, and after a while, the cool well water in the bottle would beco warm from the sun.

Xue Yuantong wasn’t just idly waiting; under the umbrella, she picked up many clumps of soil and divided them into the Great General, the lesser generals, and the soldiers.

She commanded them in battle, often plucking a blade of grass as if it were capturing a city, triumphing gloriously.

When the sun finally set, the family would head ho, and Xue Yuantong would ask her dad for ten cents to buy an ice pop from the village’s little shop.

The shop had ice cream, but an ice cream cost twenty cents, which was more than she could afford.

On a hot sumr evening, eating an ice pop was incredibly comforting.

“I really miss it!”

Rembering the sweet taste of the ice pops, Xue Yuantong took out a White Rabbit Creamy Candy, unwrapped it, and put it in her mouth.

She let the candy lt, chewing hard, trying to recapture the happiness of her youth.

But then she felt bored again:

“Such a dull life!”

Suddenly, accompanied by the squawking “quack quack” sounds, a line of big white geese passed by the door.

There were seven or eight of them, belonging to a nearby uncle who often took them to the river for frolicking and fishing.

These geese were really big!

Appearing majestically powerful, they were like the elegant noble soldiers in TV dramas, strutting with an air of arrogance, making them seem graceful yet formidable.

But, around the river dam, there was nothing more powerful than her, Xue Yuantong.

She swallowed hard and, as if possessed, stood up and ran to chat with the big geese.

Jiang Ning was riding his mountain bike, a plastic bag with a packed lunch box hanging from the handlebar.

He had just returned and saw Xue Yuantong running frantically.

She was chased by two fierce geese, seemingly determined to tornt her until she cried!

Xue Yuantong was terrified, utterly distraught; seeing Jiang Ning return was like seeing a savior, her greatest support had co back!

While she ran, she shouted,

“Jiang Ning, quick, protect , protect !”

Those geese were fearless, unabashedly vicious. Seeing him approach, they chased even more fiercely.

One of the geese flapped its wings and flew up with a whoosh, its imposing presence almost blocking out the sun, instilling fear.

Watching Xue Yuantong being chased by the geese amused Jiang Ning to no end.

Ah, Xue Yuantong, you couldn’t even handle a goose.

Jiang Ning didn’t just watch Xue Yuantong suffer; he got off his mountain bike with fluid motion.

He stepped forward, bypassing Xue Yuantong, and faced the geese directly.

First, he grabbed the neck of the flying goose in one smooth motion, and with a flick, sent it flying back.

Another goose on the ground, neck extended, charged furiously aiming to peck Xue Yuantong.

Jiang Ning kicked out swiftly, sending it flying.

After the thrashing, the two geese quieted down and, squawking disorderly, ran away.

Xue Yuantong clutched the hem of Jiang Ning’s clothes, hiding behind him.

“Hey, what happened?” Jiang Ning chuckled.

Seeing the geese driven off, Xue Yuantong was no longer afraid.

She let go of Jiang Ning’s hem and stood aside, pretending to dust off her hands theatrically.

Her heart was still pounding, still shaken. If Jiang Ning hadn’t returned on ti, she would have really been tortured by those geese!

Absolutely super painful!

She was incredibly grateful to Jiang Ning, but then again, Xue Yuantong was annoyed that Jiang Ning had disappeared suddenly in the morning; otherwise, together with him, she definitely would have given those geese a good trashing.

How could she have been humiliated like this?

Xue Yuantong looked up at Jiang Ning, “Not bad at all, you looked tall but I thought you were just for show, who knew you could actually handle it.”

“That’s good, saves the trouble.”

Jiang Ning said, “If you want, I don’t mind calling them back.”

Xue Yuantong thought to herself, ‘No, I don’t want that.’

To change the subject, she asked, “What’s hanging on your bicycle handle?”

She had noticed earlier, and now was a good ti to ask.

“Oh, did you bring food?”

Xue Yuantong was delighted; she was hungry and hadn’t expected him to bring food back. Truly, he was her Jiang Ning.

“What food?”

Jiang Ning looked at her and smiled. “What, you want to eat?”

His straightforward question made Xue Yuantong embarrassed.

“I don’t want to eat, I’m not even hungry.”

Nonsense, Jiang Ning Divine Sense swept through the kitchen. The layout was unchanged from when he had left in the morning, except for a missing milk candy, indicating Xue Yuantong hadn’t eaten.

He was well aware of the girl’s stubbornness. Xue Yuantong was like that, always too proud.

Jiang Ning had a way to deal with her: “Oh, if you’re not eating, then I’ll eat it myself.”

“Hmph, just eat if you want to, why tell ?” Xue Yuantong pouted.

Jiang Ning didn’t say a word, pushed the mountain bike inside, stopped it, and carried the lunch box into Xue Yuantong’s house’s kitchen.

Xue Yuantong followed him like a little tail and finally couldn’t help asking:

“You must’ve eaten outside already, right?”

“Are you going to eat or not?” Jiang Ning said.

Little Jiang Ning, daring to speak to her like that, how outrageous! She should be dragged out and given twenty, no, thirty lashes!

However, hunger overpowered her pride, and Xue Yuantong humbly took the lunch box.

Yet, when she opened the lid and saw the tempting large shrimp inside, the feeling of humiliation instantly vanished.

Xue Yuantong grabbed the chopsticks, ready to eat.

“Wait for ,” Jiang Ning said.

“Ah, are you going to eat?”

“No.”

Jiang Ning went back to his room, returned with a box of strawberries, guided a stream of water around his fingertips to wash them, then cast a Magic Formation to slightly warm the strawberries so they wouldn’t be too cold.

He pinched a strawberry, tasted it, and found it delicious. These were strawberries brought by Shao Shuangshuang.

He brought the box of strawberries to the kitchen.

Jiang Ning asked, “Are they big?”

Xue Yuantong stared at the strawberries, very surprised: “So big!”

The strawberries in the box were bright red and looked very healthy. They were even bigger than an egg.

Xue Yuantong had never seen such large strawberries, and gestured:

“The strawberry is too big, I can’t eat it in one bite.”

Jiang Ning had seen bigger strawberries before, but those that grew too large tended to be misshapen, unlike the strawberries in front of him which, despite their size, were still oval.

“Try it.” Jiang Ning offered one, bringing it to Xue Yuantong’s mouth.

She bit into it, and it was all delicious strawberry flesh.

“It’s delicious, delicious.”

Xue Yuantong praised it, much better than what she bought at the school gates.

“Is this very expensive?” she asked.

“It should be, it was a gift, just eat,” Jiang Ning said.

Xue Yuantong thought for a mont, then didn’t mind anymore. Relying on her wit, she would supplent Jiang Ning with her scholarship money next ti, ensuring he wouldn’t be at a loss.

Thus, she ate with peace of mind.

“Jiang Ning, you eat too,” she said.

“Yeah, I know,” Jiang Ning smiled.

The two of them ate in the small kitchen. Xue Yuantong’s al was a rice dish topped with cooked shrimp.

Xue Yuantong took a few bites of rice, bit into a strawberry, and perhaps because she was eating hurriedly, she got two grains of rice stuck at the corners of her mouth.

Unaware, she continued enjoying her strawberries.

Jiang Ning quietly watched her eat, and suddenly reached out, wiping the grains of rice from her mouth.

Feeling like her territory had been invaded, Xue Yuantong opened her mouth and bit Jiang Ning’s finger.

Jiang Ning felt the warmth and smoothness of his finger, as if, for a mont, the air stood still.

He flicked his finger, saying, “You’re drooling.”

Xue Yuantong released her mouth:

“Hmph, I thought it was a strawberry.”
