Chapter 709: Chapter 431 Harmonious Neighborhood Relations_2

So tonight’s dinner was especially bountiful, with Aunt Gu picking up basa fish, prawns, and squid, then adding lettuce, potatoes, and corn into the pot to cook it all up, spicy and full-flavored.

Especially the fish chunks, so tender and boneless, they were fantastic with each bite.

After school in the afternoon, Xue Chuchu ca over to Tongtong’s house for dinner, where she unusually ate two bowls of rice.

Normally Xue Chuchu only ever ate one bowl at dinner, and that too at Tongtong’s house made her extrely shy.

But when Tongtong offered more rice, she couldn’t help but extend her empty bowl.

After eating, Xue Chuchu was taken by Tongtong to Jiang Ning’s room, using the excuse that she was too tired from playing all day, to enjoy his monitor.

Jiang Ning, anwhile, was lying by himself at the swing, while Dongdong, after getting a thrashing from Uncle Zhang, was lying in bed tending to his injuries, temporarily unable to go out and stake claim to the swing.

In the sumr evening, mosquitoes were plentiful, and Uncle Tang and the others trying to cool off at the doorway would occasionally slap at the mosquitoes.

Seeing this, Jiang Ning rembered how Xue Yuantong boasted in front of him,

declaring she had a unique physique that attracted mosquitoes to others but never to her, ever since she was a child.

That was until the ti Jiang Ning sat with her, and Xue Yuantong got bitten three tis, then beca quiet after applying so mosquito repellent.

Jiang Ning was lying in the hammock, relishing the peace, while the nearby mosquitoes surged towards him like mad, however, upon touching his body’s electric field, they were zapped dead on the spot and then repelled.

In the class group, Yu Wen asked, “Have any of you heard of the HPV bivalent and quadrivalent vaccines? I saw it on the news the other day.”

Many boys did not understand the topic among girls and thus did not reply.

Of course, the main reason was that Yu Wen was not particularly good-looking, but more importantly, Dong Qingfeng was absent. According to what Dong Qingfeng had said in the morning, he had recently gone to Xu City to enjoy so barbeque.

Shen Qing’e didn’t quite understand either, “What’s the hpv vaccine for?”

From another side, Lu Qiqi jumped in, “It can prevent so diseases that won may contract…”

She did a quick Baidu search and posted her findings in the group.

Bai Yuxia stepped in, “Yes, those are its effects. If it’s feasible, I suggest that all girls get it, though the price is sowhat steep.”

Chen Siyu asked, “How steep?”

“A doctor I know said it’s at least a few thousand!” Bai Yuxia answered.

Learning from the embarrassnt of the last ti when she pretended to watch movies, Lu Qiqi had researched thoroughly this ti and challenged, “The doctor is probably tricking you. You can’t even get that vaccine in China right now!”

Bai Yuxia responded, “My mom is a doctor, would she trick ?”

The group fell silent for a while until ng Gui decided to lighten the mood, “Classmates, I’ve recently learned fortune-telling. Does anyone want to calculate a fortune for them?”

Cui Yu joked, “What should I do about my Xiaomi 3 overheating?”

ng Gui replied, “Get a new phone.”

Dan Kaiquan earnestly asked, “Master, can you predict my love life?”

After asking Dan Kaiquan a few questions, ng Gui prophesized, “You’re destined to be lonely until you’re 30.”

Despite knowing it wasn’t true, Dan Kaiquan still felt miffed and couldn’t resist asking, “Will things change after I’m 30?”

ng Gui replied, “Of course! After you turn 30, you’ll get used to it.”

Dan Kaiquan exclaid in frustration, “Damn it!”

Pang Jiao asked, “Can you guess how old I’ll live to be?”

ng Gui spoke professionally, “Sister Jiao, there’s a hurdle at 120.”

Pang Jiao was overjoyed, “I can live to 120?”

ng Gui clarified, “No, that’s when soone will dig up your grave.”

Zhang Chi comnted, “Seems kind of plausible.”

Duan Shigang concurred, “Strongly agree.”

Cui Yu praised, “I bow to Master ng!”

Pang Jiao angrily typed, “ng Gui, I’ll read your fortune too!”

ng Gui thought arrogantly to himself, thinking she was trying to teach him his own tricks,

“Go ahead.”

Pang Jiao prophesized, “I see a bloody mishap for you on September 1st.”

ng Gui was skeptical, “What, just say it and it’s true?”

Pang Jiao replied, “Because I’m gonna beat you to death!”

River Dam Bungalow, the curtains drawn, the dark room lit only by the glowing computer monitor screen.

Xue Yuantong and Xue Chuchu squeezed onto the sofa, their dark eyes reflecting the light.

Xue Yuantong turned off her phone screen, had an idea, and said to Xue Chuchu, “Chuchu, I learned fortune-telling from my classmates. Let tell your fortune!”

She pinched Xue Chuchu’s slender hand, fiddled with it for a while, and declared, “Chuchu, your life is destined to be so tough!”

Xue Chuchu pursed her lips and remained silent.

Xue Yuantong, mimicking Master ng’s fortune-telling thod, replied, “But, don’t worry, you’re especially resilient!”

Xue Chuchu: “…Childish.”

Xue Yuantong giggled.

The next morning, Aunt Gu went to Nan City for a eting, and Chuchu went to school.

Xue Yuantong washed the bedsheets and then went to play with Jiang Ning. She looked up at him and remarked, “Your hair has gotten so long~”

“Then let’s get a haircut,” Jiang Ning said, even though he could solve it with Spiritual Power, but occasionally he liked to go out for a haircut.

Xue Yuantong touched her little braids, proudly stating, “My hair has always been cut by Mom!”

Getting a haircut in Yu Zhou City was expensive, and in the past, when money was tight, Aunt Gu cut her daughters’ hair to save money.

Even though they were now more financially comfortable, Xue Yuantong still preferred to have her mother cut her hair.

“I’m going to the urban area to get a haircut,” Jiang Ning said as he wheeled out his mountain bike from the house.

Xue Yuantong squatted at the door, looking eager.

She couldn’t ride a bike, and the distance from the River Dam to the urban area wasn’t short. Without transportation, with her short legs, it would take her a long ti to walk, and if she bought sothing in the city, she’d have to carry it all the way back.

So Xue Yuantong had almost no ability to travel alone and had to rely on her mother or Jiang Ning.

Jiang Ning patted the back seat, “Lock up the door quickly, let’s head out.”

Xue Yuantong happily climbed onto the bike, thinking, ‘He really won’t leave behind.’

After crossing the river dam, Jiang Ning opened his Divine Sense and chose a clean-looking hair salon.

There was only the Boss Lady in the shop, around thirty-five or thirty-six, dressed fashionably, with her hair dyed purple.

“Cut it short, and trim it a bit,” Jiang Ning said.

His haircuts were always simple: a little trim and that was it—no perms, no dye, no mbership cards. The boss couldn’t make much off him.

The Boss Lady looked at Xue Yuantong and asked, “Are you getting a haircut too?”

Xue Yuantong, sitting in the chair, quickly waved her hands: “No no, not , just him.”

The Boss Lady washed Jiang Ning’s hair, draped the haircutting cape over him, and started making small talk:

“Is this your sister? She’s quite cute.”

Xue Yuantong was about to deny it when in the next second, Jiang Ning replied, “Yes, don’t let her cute looks fool you, she’s very mischievous.”

Xue Yuantong puffed up her cheeks, feeling indignant inside, ‘He’s only a year older than , always taking advantage of !’

When the day cos that she grows taller than Jiang Ning, she would definitely get her revenge!

The Boss Lady snipped away with her scissors, “Snip, snip.”

Xue Yuantong daydread, propping her cheek with her hand. She had a vivid imagination, and whenever she got a haircut, she couldn’t stop fantasizing that what if the hairstylist was an assassin who, midway through, suddenly stabbed with the scissors. How would she deal with that?

Xue Yuantong thought of countless scenarios, only to find she had no way to counter them.

That’s why Xue Yuantong had to choose stylists who didn’t look like assassins when getting a haircut.

Later on, Chuchu told her that those who didn’t look like assassins were more likely to be so.

Xue Yuantong’s thod failed, and her fear returned, but then Chuchu said, “We’re so poor at ho, why would an assassin bother with us?”

Through the reflection in the mirror, the Boss Lady watched the little girl: “Your sister’s quite young. Has she started middle school yet?”

Her words pulled Xue Yuantong back to reality, and she felt belittled. She would be starting her sophomore year of high school!

And soone was questioning whether she was in middle school yet? Did she look that childish?

She instinctively wanted to dispute it, but Xue Yuantong, to spare the Boss Lady from embarrassnt, resignedly played along:

“I’ll be starting middle school once the term begins. Ah, I really don’t want to go to middle school.”
