Chapter 761: Chapter 458: The Real Speed of the Car
Since 2011, when the Beijing-Shen High-speed Railway began operating, cities like Xin Chang and Yuzhou proclaid they had entered the high-speed rail era.
During that period, Yuzhou, as one of the seven major stations of the Beijing-Shen High-speed Railway, was well-developed in transportation and had always been the top dog in the province.
Jiang Ning stepped into the Xin Chang high-speed railway station, lost in thought.
Unfortunately, in the subsequent decade or so, Yuzhou had hardly achieved anything more in the transportation sector and gradually declined.
However, in this life, the rise of Changqing Liquid Company had taken less than a year to leap to the top enterprise in the province, and Yuzhou’s fate was about to change.
Jiang Ning swiped his ID card to collect his tickets, while the twin sisters Chen Siyu nervously waited. They didn’t have IDs and knew they needed to check in, afraid of being left behind.
After Jiang Ning got the tickets, he said, “Follow .”
At the entrance, a uniford staff mber was waiting.
Jiang Ning showed his ticket, and the staff imdiately offered a standard smile, “Hello, please follow .”
They passed smoothly through the checkpoint.
Chen Siyu pinched her sister, recalling the stories their elders had told about sneaking onto trains many years ago.
Inside the waiting hall, it was buzzing with people; every seat was taken. It was the sumr vacation peak travel season, and tourists overwheld stations nationwide.
Chen Siyu lifted her head, noticing on the large screen the ssage announcing that train G8972 was delayed.
Then, a realization struck her, “Sister, sister, we are so lucky, the high-speed train is delayed!”
Chen Siqing replied, “It’s such a coincidence!”
With just over ten minutes until departure, the waiting hall was full, but they didn’t mind standing for a while.
Unexpectedly, Jiang Ning led them through the bustling waiting hall to the so-called business waiting area.
The ambiance quieted down, free from the noise outside, with just a few people sitting around calmly, even so foreigners, as if they were in a library.
The elegant decoration, comfy sofas, tastefully simple wooden tables, and even a self-service area with all sorts of snacks, juices, colas, chips, and crab-flavored peas…
The Chen sisters, from a middle-class family, had taken the high-speed train before but had never ventured into such places.
Both showed the sa expression of shock, like cats who hadn’t seen sunlight in ages: “Is this the business-class waiting room?”
After a mont, Chen Siqing whispered to Jiang Ning, “Did you buy business-class tickets?”
“Yes.”
“Isn’t that very expensive?”
“It’s just a thirty-minute trip, not expensive,” Jiang Ning replied nonchalantly.
Still, the twins took his words to heart, realizing that even if it was cheap, the cost of three people together must be substantial.
“Jiang Ning, we will compensate you,” Chen Siyu declared seriously.
Chen Siqing nodded earnestly beside her.
Jiang Ning just smiled.
Whenever he arrived at a new place, his Divine Sense would scan the surroundings in advance. Though unlikely to encounter anything that could threaten his life in real life, this vigilance was an instinct honed over countless years.
In the business waiting room’s southwest corner, Lin Zida, Zhuang Jianhui, and Yuan Lin were gathered around a table, playing poker unconcerned by the rest.
When soone entered the door, Lin Zida glanced up, recognized Jiang Ning, and then saw the identical twins by his side, which left him feeling numb.
He admitted that Jiang Ning had so skills, but why was it that every ti he saw him, the girls by his side were different?
Lin Zida’s family was impressive, yet he did not recognize the Chen sisters.
The young man beside him, handso and distinguished, was Yuan Lin, a native of Shen City. After seeing Jiang Ning, it took him several seconds to rember the guy from the Yuzhou barbecue stand who fought four others alone.
He paused, then asked, “Fatty Lin, who are those girls?”
“Girls from Class 8 in our school.”
“Are they on a trip together?” Yuan Lin couldn’t believe it, despite his worldliness, he hadn’t seen such luminous twins.
Lin Zida replied, “Isn’t it obvious?”
Inwardly envious, Yuan Lin mused that at their age of sixteen or seventeen, who didn’t fantasize about being surrounded by twins?
“Setting that aside, the girls from Yuzhou really are beautiful,” Yuan Lin comnted.
Having spent a year in Yuzhou, Lin Zida felt qualified to remark, “Yuzhou is on the dividing line between the north and south, so the girls have both the delicate grace of Southern won and the forthrightness of Northern won.”
As he said this, Zhuang Jianhui’s lips twitched, recalling Pang Jiao from Class 8 who confessed in the middle of the road and desperately wanted to disagree.
Yet, fearing ridicule, he kept silent.
Yuan Lin nodded, “Last ti, with Li Shi, my goodness, she outdrank !”
Their conversation flowed, and the speed of their card playing slowed significantly.
…
The Chen sisters grabbed a pile of snacks and even twisted open a bottle of orange juice for Jiang Ning, then nestled at his sides.
Jiang Ning had barely eaten a few crab-flavored peas when he noticed a dark figure approaching.
He glanced over. The person had dark skin, not the darkness of a local, but jet-black.
Though only in his forties, his bald head and full beard made him look closer to fifty.
With an air of overfamiliarity, he disregarded Jiang Ning and focused on Chen Siyu and Chen Siqing, exclaiming excitedly,
“Oh my god!”
Then ca an awkwardly phrased complint, “You are the most beautiful won I’ve ever seen!”
The twins were approached by a foreigner for the first ti. As youths of a new era, they lacked the nearly obsessive adulation for foreigners that many from the ’70s and ’80s decades had.
The dark-skinned, bald man before them just seed frightening.
But the bald and dark-skinned man didn’t stop trying to chat up the twins despite their retreat, continuing in English to introduce himself:
