The day of the monthly test arrived, early in the morning.
After the rain, the sky cleared up, with clouds calmly resting in the sky as if they had just been grood.
Jiang Ning rode his bike carrying Xue Yuantong.
"My mom cooked so corn, it's really sweet, I'll give you one."
Xue Yuantong was holding two exam bags, and in her other hand, she carried two bags filled with corn.
"Thank Aunt Gu for ," Jiang Ning said.
"You should be thanking , I was the one who asked my mom to cook it," Xue Yuantong replied.
"Thank you, Xue Yuantong."
"Mhmm, as long as you know."
"Jiang Ning, after the test at noon, I'll co to find you outside the classroom. Don't sneak away," Xue Yuantong, who would be taking the test in Class 10, was not on the sa floor as Jiang Ning.
"Don't worry, I'll wait for you."
Xue Yuantong didn't know exactly how Jiang Ning was doing academically, but she could guess he was probably a lot worse than her. So, in that case, it would be difficult for them to be in the sa examination room next ti, which is why she offered:
"Do you want the answers? I can pass you so cheat sheets."
"How would you do that?" Jiang Ning was surprised. He didn't expect Xue Yuantong to be one to cheat.
"Oh, it's like this: during the test, we'll agree on a ti, then leave the exam room together, et outside, and I'll give you the cheat sheets."
Back in junior high, there were 'tough' girls in her class who would ask her for answers before the test, and Xue Yuantong, to avoid trouble, would often pass them cheat sheets.
Actually, Xue Yuantong didn't like doing this, but if she didn't, bad things could happen, like getting bullied.
Thus, she had developed a skill for passing cheat sheets.
In high school, with Jiang Ning around, no one targeted her, so Xue Yuantong no longer had to pass cheat sheets to anyone. But if Jiang Ning wanted them, she was willing to take the risk of sharing answers with him.
This way, with her help, there was a high chance they would be in the sa examination room next ti.
After hearing this, Jiang Ning smiled and said, "No need, you just focus on your test."
"Hmm, okay," Xue Yuantong closed her mouth, saying nothing more.
Since they were unlikely to be in the sa exam room next ti, she planned to sit with Jiang Ning after the monthly test seating rearrangents and help improve his scores as much as possible.
They rode all the way to the school, and Jiang Ning locked up his mountain bike; bike thieves were plentiful nowadays, so he always made sure to lock it to avoid unnecessary trouble.
Jiang Ning, holding a corn on the cob and a box of milk, headed to Class 8.
So students from other classes were in the classroom, as well as so from his own, like Ma Shicheng, who was playing a ga at his desk.
Different from usual, the tall stacks of books were gone from the desks.
Shan Qingrong had asked everyone to clear their desks the night before to prepare for the exam.
So students took their books back to the dormitory, while others piled them in a corner of the classroom.
Jiang Ning had brought a larger bag the day before, tying both his and Xue Yuantong's books to the mountain bike fra to bring them back in one trip.
"Ma Shicheng, the test is about to start," Jiang Ning said.
Ma Shicheng continued gaming, completely unfazed:
"No rush, I've still got twenty minutes, and my exam room is next door. I can go any ti."
He was engrossed in his ga.
At that mont, Wang Longlong ca running: "Brother Ma, let's go to Class 1 to play gas."
"I'm not familiar with Class 1, it's fine here."
Wang Longlong blurted out: "Brother Ma, are you confused?"
Ma Shicheng looked at him, puzzled.
Wang Longlong said excitedly, "Brother Ma, why not play gas in Class 1? Think about it, it's the experintal class full of good students who study hard every day. If we go to Class 1 to play gas, wouldn't that be thrilling?"
Ma Shicheng thought it made sense. Playing gas in a classroom was exciting in itself, but doing so in the experintal class was like entering a sacred space in his mind, a paradise for good students, with girls exuding an aura of studiousness.
The thought of playing gas in Class 1 filled him with an uncontrollable sense of anticipation, and goosebumps erupted all over his body.
It would surely be double the fun!
"Let's go, let's go now. I'll play the gas, and you can watch."
Ma Shicheng, excited, hitched up his pants, grabbed his phone, and ran to the adjoining Class 1. He couldn't wait.
"Don't worry, Brother Ma, I'll stand right next to you and watch you play the gas!"
Wang Longlong imdiately followed; his examination room was also in Class 1.
Jiang Ning: "..."
Jiang Ning sat in his own seat for a while, then headed to his assigned exam seat.
In the upper right corner of the desk was a white examination number slip. Jiang Ning set down his exam tools: two pens, a ruler, and a sheet of paper to use as a pad for the test.
As the exam approached, the original students from Class 8 gradually left, and more and more unfamiliar students filed in.
Five minutes before the start of the exam, all the examinees in Exam Room 8 had arrived.
Jiang Ning sat in his seat, his Divine Sense spread out, tallying a total of 28 examinees.
There were also three classmates from his own class, Chen Qian, Yang Sheng, and (the fake) Chen Siyu.
It was Chen Siqing, not Chen Siyu; Jiang Ning had no difficulty telling the two apart.
There were also a few familiar faces, such as Lin Zida and Dong Jiayi from Class 1, and a new male student who joined Class 8 after the second-year class splits into humanities and sciences.
Soon, the invigilator arrived, and to their surprise, it was the English teacher Chen Haiyang, infamous for his strictness which many students had experienced.
However, the first subject of the monthly exam was Chinese, which didn't require copying, so the students in the exam room weren't very tense.
Once Jiang Ning received the exam papers, he took one and then passed the rest to the students behind him.
Sitting behind was Chen Siqing, who glanced at Jiang Ning with sowhat evasive eyes. In fact, this exam seat belonged to her younger sister Chen Siyu, who was not good at Chinese literature and had her sister take the test in her stead.
The sisters had decided before the exam to concentrate on their respective strong subjects and let one of them aim for a high score in one go.
As the elder sister, she decided to give her sister a comfortable break this ti.
At this mont, Chen Siqing always felt that Jiang Ning saw through her deception, leaving her sowhat uneasy.
Jiang Ning skimd through the exam paper and began answering questions.
His mory had nearly reached a photographic level, which was particularly useful for subjects like Chinese. Except for reading comprehension and composition, which were uncertain, he could secure the rest of the scores with ease.
The Chinese exam of the Fourth Middle School's monthly test lasted two hours.
After Jiang Ning finished his essay, there was still fifty minutes left, so he spent the free ti cultivating his Cultivation Technique.
According to Jiang Ning's estimation, he should be able to break through to the Qi Cultivation Fourth Layer before the new year. At that ti, both his mana and Divine Sense would surge.
With the last half-hour remaining, Jiang Ning handed in his exam and left the room.
Chen Haiyang wanted to give a few admonishing words, but indeed, the rules allowed for test papers to be handed in thirty minutes early this monthly exam.
Chen Qian, however, looked up at Jiang Ning, then continued working on his exam.
Soon, the exam ti ca to an end.
Chen Haiyang asked the students to leave and began collecting the test papers.
After the Chinese exam, there was a twenty-minute break before the next subject, Geography.
After handing in his paper, Chen Qian approached Chen Siyu and asked,
"Chen Siyu, how did you do on the test?"
Chen Siqing's sense of defeat at being seen through by Jiang Ning disappeared instantly, and her confidence returned.
Chen Siqing said, "I think it went well, I perford to the best of my ability."
Her grades were above average, but she had severe subject biases. If the sisters combined their talents into one, they could surely make a significant leap.
Hearing this, Chen Qian felt sowhat helpless. Unlike math, which was simple and brutal, Chinese was not easy to show off.
His essays might be good, but he certainly couldn't recite them on the spot for Chen Siyu to hear, could he?
Chen Qian suppressed the urge for the mont and wore a refined and cultured expression, deciding to approach from a different angle:
"I never imagined one could finish a Chinese exam thirty minutes early; that's quite an eye-opener.
"Turning in the paper so early, the score must be really good."
"I genuinely envy those with such good grades."
"They're sure to rank in the top ten of the grade; I'm far behind."
Chen Qian's sarcasm was obviously aid at Jiang Ning.
From behind, the chubby Lin Zida, with a bread roll in his mouth, ca walking by and glanced at him.
He was one of those who handed in their paper half an hour early and had just been praised comfortably by Chen Qian, finding this brother particularly pleasing to the eye:
"You speak so nicely; could you say a bit more? I love listening to it."
Chen Qian's voice ca to an abrupt halt as he recognized Lin Zida, a student from the neighboring experintal class.
