August 14th.

The eting continued.

Today was the last day.

Starting tomorrow, everyone would return ho to convey the spirit of the eting.

Yet behind the seemingly calm prosperity, transaction after transaction, compromise after compromise were continuously reached, because behind every industry, every policy, were entangled interests of power and money.

No one wanted to give up.

Mu Zhiwen had been very active these past two days.

He had basically visited all the high-level departnt heads in Nabi, and they were all very eager to make his acquaintance, mainly because these two states were too big, with people, land, and resources.

Naturally, there were huge interests.

"Pan Cong, chief, yes, I’ve sent out all the gifts, except for Ling... they... were all very easy to talk to," Mu Zhiwen said towards the end, a flash of disdain crossing the corners of his mouth.

Being easy to talk to ant: Their hands were not at all soft.

"That’s good," Pan Cong nodded.

Although he despised these people for accepting bribes, it was also okay; any issue that could be solved with money was not an issue. However, Mu Zhiwen also ran into a wall, naly Kan Qin and Ling.

Kan Qin was upright and unyielding, with decisive words and warnings.

As for Ling,

he had outright snapped at him, "Do you think I lack money? Or sothing else?"

On hearing these words, Mu Zhiwen had been instantly disconcerted.

Indeed, as Ling had said, the extent of Ling’s wealth was beyond Mu Zhiwen’s imagination; you could send airplanes and it wouldn’t matter to him. In the end, however, Ling didn’t get angry. He rely stated it was not to be repeated, and business should be discussed as business.

After so private interactions,

Mu Zhiwen’s opinion of Ling shifted again.

He discovered Ling’s profound research into the economy and the welfare of the people. Talking with Ling was like conversing with a deeply knowledgeable scholar; you’d be drawn in before you even realized it.

And find yourself agreeing with his views.

Even if he was an opponent,

he was a worthy one.

"Co back next week, there are many matters within the state that need your attention." Recalling those complicated statutes and legal fraworks, Pan Cong felt overwheld and needed soone to share the workload.

"Okay," Mu Zhiwen also wanted to return promptly to secure a good position.

"By the way, when you visit the Myanmar Economic Zone, give Su Yu my regards. Old friend Su Yu shouldn’t beco a stranger—that guy really is cunning."

Pan Cong and Su Yu were neighbors in the past; though they didn’t visit each other often, they had t many tis.

Then suddenly, he turned to Ling.

Now, although not as powerful as before, he still held an important position. This ti when Mu Zhiwen saw Su Yu, he proposed to take a look around. Su Yu agreed on the spot, inviting him for an inspection.

Pan Cong neither had the ti nor dared to go.

So Mu Zhiwen went instead.

"Understood," Mu Zhiwen confird.

...

Two days later.

Mu Zhiwen arrived at the Myanmar Economic Zone with Su Yu.

The two shared a vehicle.

However, it was not a passenger car, but a luxurious coach.

Inside, beside Su Yu and his assistant and two security guards, there was also Mu Zhiwen’s delegation and a few mbers of Dsvid’s delegation; Mu Zhiwen only found out about these companions upon setting off.

Fortunately, everyone knew each other.

Traveling together was not awkward.

"Director Su Yu, is that your checkpoint up ahead?"

Mu Zhiwen looked ahead with excitent to see a huge checkpoint appearing, with sixteen lanes in each direction which transford into thirty-two inspection lanes at the checkpoint.

Following Mu Zhiwen’s pointing hand.

Su Yu gazed proudly at the colossal building in the distance.

"This toll station primarily handles registration and inspections, to prevent dangerous goods and individuals from entering the Special Zone. Out of these lanes, six are for truck inspections, six for passenger cars.

Three are designated for coaches, and on the far right, there’s a special vehicle lane for police cars, fire trucks, cash transporters, military vehicles, and the like for fast access without toll charges."

"It’s massive," Mu Zhiwen remarked.

"Hehe," Su Yu chuckled without responding. Ling’s handiwork was always on a grand scale, aiming to build the best, biggest, most advanced, and most practical things, which greatly matched Su Yu’s taste.

The checkpoint was not a toll station.

It held various departnts and institutions similar to Customs, and nobody had ever accused it of being too small. Beyond the checkpoint, a nine-story building was visible, the administrative center for the checkpoint.

At the sa ti.

It was also a fully-equipped rest area.

You could take care of tax, banking, dining, refueling, car repair, and other various services.

Su Yu and his party’s car naturally belonged to special vehicles and could take the special lane, avoiding the other crowded lanes.

"With so many cars, how’s the traffic flow?"

Seeing the long line of cars still queuing up behind them, Mu Zhiwen asked.

"It’s quite fast. Trucks should take less than three minutes, cars less than a minute, and the slowest are the coaches, because everyone must get off for security and identity checks. However, it should also end within five minutes.

Once inside the Special Zone, there will be no more checkpoints," Su Yu explained.

"That’s quite good," Mu Zhiwen nodded, making a ntal note. This approach was excellent, setting up a strict firewall at the entrance, so there was no need for checkpoints inside, which increased traffic efficiency.

The convoy sped along the expressway.

The wide lanes.

Made for very comfortable driving.

The middle of the expressway featured a three-ter-wide green belt, and on either side, there was over five ters of greenery planted with low, lush plants and interspersed with so flowers, creating a beautiful scene.

"Considering safety, within thirty ters on either side of the expressway, civilian housing is not permitted, though farmland is allowed. This offers so protection both to the expressway and the residents nearby."

"The highest speed limit on the expressway is 120 kiloters per hour, monitored in real-ti by a surveillance network covering all sections of the highway. If there’s any violation, a text ssage will be imdiately sent to the on-board traffic navigator."

"What’s a traffic navigator?" Mu Zhiwen wondered.

"It’s a device for location and navigation which has recorded all the main road information in the Myanmar Economic Zone, along with similar alert functions, like upcoming turns, high accident zones, and so forth.

It also serves as a platform for disseminating traffic information, and the latest traffic regulations are released here. It has various features, but is very practical," Su Yu introduced, as if selling his wares.

To put it simply.

It’s like a radio with path navigation and text ssaging capabilities.

Well

Pretty much.

This kind of gadget, at this ti in Myanmar, was utterly miraculous, much like ’black magic’.

Watching the large trucks shuttling back and forth on the highway, Mu Zhiwen could feel the strong economic vitality contained within; these trucks were all carrying money.

As they continued driving,

they reached a plain area.

Mu Zhiwen even saw a railway line, with a long train loaded with black coal, moving slowly due to the heavy weight.

"Our railway system is already connected to Myanmar’s rail network. Every day a large amount of ore is transported here, but passenger rail transport is not yet available. Passengers can only travel on rail lines within the Special Zone, and can enter or exit only by coach or airplane."

There was no choice.

The Household Registration System in Myanmar had not been perfected, and identity information was very disorganized, so managing the movent of people was sowhat troubleso. This was also the direct reason why Kan Qin ntioned at the eting that the population census needed to be completed quickly.

It was mainly about facilitating the procedures for residents’ mobility.
