At this mont, an alarm went off, startling Tang Qing to his feet. His earlier worries had been justified - soone had heard the gunshot and called the police.
Being a criminal really ant living in constant fear of authority, Tang Qing thought with a bitter smile. He never imagined that he would be scared of the sound of a police siren. These are so screwed up tis, he thought.
The police would definitely be going from door to door soon. It was likely to be a case of much ado about nothing. Tang Qing didn’t bother thinking any further. He changed into his night clothes, pulled the blanket over himself and prepared to sleep. But how could he possibly sleep now? Every ti he closed his eyes, those thrilling scenes reappeared in his mind. He tried hard not to think about them, but the more he tried, the more vivid they beca. The images coupled with a pale green backdrop made it all seem like a horror film.
Damn, he thought, from now on no more using these ghostly bordered sights. Infrared ones are better. And if not those, at least sothing normal. And he should refrain from getting his own hands dirty. After all, he was a man with hundreds of millions in cash in his accounts; getting into fights himself just wasn’t dignified. He had taken risks once, but walking along the riverside without ever getting his shoes wet was impossible. He didn’t want to be under constant surveillance or end up in prison. Being hosick, fleeing abroad wasn’t an option for him either. Living in foreign lands simply wasn’t amusing.
Well, let others do such dirty and tiring tasks from now on. As for him, the thrill had passed and he was truly scared. If it were not for the Origin Qi which allowed him not to dream, he suspected he would constantly have nightmares.
He truly wondered how protagonists in fantasy novels overca their ntal obstacles. So much violence, so many murders; these protagonists must have great ntal fortitude. Didn’t they have nightmares? Anyhow, he couldn’t figure it out. Tang Qing decided he must take up a hobby for emotional cultivation to relieve such stress in the future. When he thought of the novel’s protagonists doing it, doing it, doing it; he and Lin Jiaxue hadn’t crossed that step yet. He wasn’t going to randomly hook up with so other woman, so he had to resort to a ’second-best solution.’
As expected, twenty minutes later, upon realizing the seriousness of the situation, a more intensive siren started wailing. Many residents were awakened and peered out of their windows. However, due to obstructions from an enclosure wall and factory building, they couldn’t see clearly what had happened. But they knew a big incident must have taken place for so many police to be dispatched and the continued increase in police deploynt. Residents in taller buildings could see the entire Steel Factory was filled with police officers, police dogs, and huge spotlights. The Ard Police had even arrived.
The window of Tang Qing’s house, however, did not have a view of the Steel Factory; another building blocked the view. He could only lie in bed, listening to the commotion.

Listening to the increasingly intensified siren from a distance and the sounds of police dogs from the Steel Factory did tighten Tang Qing’s nerves for a mont. Still, he found so comfort knowing his shoes had been discarded and no personal sll was left at the scene.
Hopefully, the cops wouldn’t use other investigative thods to trace him here, he prayed in secret.
As suspected, in less than half an hour, the police began questioning residents in the neighborhood. The residents’ houses closer to the Steel Factory were their primary focus. Despite their slim hope of finding anyone, they had to follow police procedures.
Typically, the police wouldn’t knock on doors at night for regular cases. But this one was different. To ensure safety on duty that night, all policen were equipped with bullets. At least three policen accompanied each visit, and two Ard Police vehicles were on standby in the neighborhood for imdiate support.
PS: I feel like this Chapter...didn’t quite et expectations.
