Galina donned her scarf.

She followed the tall African man out of the room.

They arrived in a corridor lined with identical rooms. Under the dim lights, it all seed very ominous.

The rooms mostly contained important individuals. Galina, ever the empath, wished to say sothing, but she held her tongue. With her life currently at stake, any extra person would pose an extra risk.

They ascended the stairs.

Turning a corner.

Galina’s eyes suddenly widens.

She noticed guards lying on the ground, motionless like the dead.

But observing their regular breathing, and spotting no blood on the ground, it was clear these people were still alive.

This place was extrely guarded, an aggressive assault would be impossible, that’s why, especially for this sudden rescue mission, it is necessary to maintain discretion, so, just adding sothing into their food would suffice.

The anesthetics developed by scientists today are mature, whether it’s liquid or spray, highly potent, and these drugs are ineffective to soldiers, no antidote required.

They get to the first floor.

Galina finally saw the long-lost sunlight.

They made another turn.

In a large room.

People scattered all over the floor.

She made a rough estimate of more than twenty people.

Just like that.

Under Galina’s shocked gaze.

The two of them walked directly to the outside of the building, the path was strewn with fallen bodies. For the sake of convenient execution of tasks, the amount of this equipnt in Africa is as high as weapons.

They arrived at the back exit of the building used for transport of food. Upon exiting, Galina saw a pickup truck parked outside. There were baskets of vegetables and at on the truck which had been unloaded.

"Get in."

The tall African man opened the passenger side door.

Without any cautious movents.

Nor any signs of apprehension, as if they were in a safe zone.

Could it be that everyone outside is also lying on the ground?

After a mont’s hesitation, Galina got in.

The engine rumbled to life, and they started heading outside of the compound.

As they rounded a corner, she saw groups of soldiers eating and drinking. Galina realised that only the people inside the building were taken down.

Looking at these soldiers, Galina sneered at their carelessness. But she figured, considering the state of the forces here, the quality of soldiers was questionable. There was hardly any discipline to speak of.

It was already a miracle that so soldiers were on guard duty, after all, this is their stronghold.

Who would dare to co here to rescue soone?

Unfortunately for them.

Today, soone did.

"Stop."

Their car was halted by a guard.

Galina panicked as she realized there didn’t seem to be any other won around here.

The guard who stopped them approached, blocking Galina’s window. Seeing soone over, the others didn’t co over to check and simply continued their chats, smoking their freshly handed cigarettes.

What a great smoke.

Once finished, the guards felt lethargic and didn’t feel like moving.

Galina kept her head low, avoiding looking either way, her heart pounding.

"Let’s go."

The guard said.

Then rolled up the car window.

As Galina was still wondering what happened.

The car drove out of the compound, leaving Galina in a daze.

All of this felt like a dream. Looking at the bustling street ahead, the unique ambience of Africa, where many of the passersby were ard, Galina pinched herself and winced in pain.

"Where are you taking ?"

Galina nervously asked the soldier sitting next to her. Going from the frying pan into the fire is what she was worried about.

"We’re heading to Rwanda. It’s nearer. You can then take a flight to any place you want from there. Once we drop you off there, our mission would be deed complete. But during this period, please cooperate with our mission," said the soldier in a nonchalant manner.

"Is it just the two of us?"

Galina hastily asked. This was a cross-country trip and they were only two of them; it all sounded insane.

The soldier said: "There is also auxiliary protection personnel, but you don’t need to know the specifics."

"Can... can I make a phone call?" Galina carefully asked.

"Yes."

As the soldier said it.

He handed over a strange box to her, a communication device. "How do you use this?" Galina asked, confused. It felt like a ga console, just with a simpler interface, with just a dialogue box.

"Choose the country, then dial the number."

Galina fumbled with the device, which she decided to call a phone for lack of a better term.

She quickly got the hang of it.

She dialed her father’s number.

"Hello..." A tired voice answered.

It was her father’s voice.

Seeing the na, Galina exclaid excitedly, "Father, it’s ."

"Galina?" Ivanovich’s voice conveyed his disbelief.

"It’s , *sob*, father, I miss you, I really do, I..." Galina broke down in tears, despite her strong character, she couldn’t help but reveal her childlike vulnerability in front of her own father.

"Don’t cry, don’t cry, where are you, is Sadoke with you?" Ivanovich asked, puzzled as to why Sakozi had been preventing him from speaking to his daughter these days, always negotiating terms with him. What happened today then?

"Not at all, Sadoke isn’t with . Soone rescued and they’re planning to take to Rwanda to catch a connecting flight. As for the destination, they said it’s up to ," Galina shook her head and answered.

"What? Soone rescued you? Who?" Ivanovich asked in surprise.

"I don’t know. They said it has sothing to do with Qian Lei," Galina honestly replied.

"Qian Lei? That young lad from Huaxia?"

Galina looked at the fighter next to her, who didn’t restrict her speech, and nodded, "Yes, they told that. I don’t know anything else, he didn’t say anything."

Ivanovich fell silent for a mont and then said, "This is strange. Wait for , give his number. I’ll speak to Qian Lei. I’m worried it’s a ploy by Sadoke, or for so unknown reason, I’m not sure."

Galina’s father found it hard to believe that a Chinese man could manage to rescue his daughter from Sadoke. It seed so implausible, yet how could this phone call be explained.

It was all a mystery.

Hearing about the conspiracy.

Galina was not surprised. The matter was already imbued with a strong sense of strangeness. She had weighed the pros and cons before deciding to go along with it.

"No, I’ll contact Qian Lei directly. Let’s see what he says," Galina replied.

"Okay, call when you’re done," Ivanovich assented.

’Okay.’

She ended the call.

Then called Qian Lei.

...

Inside the convoy.

Qian Lei was sullenly slumped in the back seat.

His heart was filled with a sense of despair and helplessness. He knew where Galina was, but he couldn’t save her.

He felt powerless.

This feeling, it was like his head was about to explode.

Suddenly.

A familiar tune blared from his phone.

A colleague sitting nearby reminded him, "Qian Lei, your phone’s ringing. Is it an alarm or sothing?"

Qian Lei ca back to his senses and shook his head, "No, it’s not an alarm, it’s my phone... wait, do we have a signal here?" He looked at the desolate surroundings, it didn’t look like there was a base station nearby.

Whatever.

He picked up his phone.

A strange number was calling and, surprisingly, the signal reception was full? What was going on?

He pressed the answer button.

"Hello, this is Qian Lei."

"Qian Lei, it’s , it’s Galina." A familiar voice ca over the line.

"Galina? Are you okay? Weren’t you captured by Sadoke?" Qian Lei was so startled that he hit his head on the car roof. He had just been thinking about Galina and now she was calling him. Surely, she wasn’t...

"I... soone rescued and they said it was related to you. Didn’t you know?" Galina said quickly.

Qian Lei was stunned: "I asked soone? When did I... wait, you said that the person who saved you said it was related to ?" He rembered the events of the day and the situation just now. If it was his boss who asked soone to...

It all clicked for him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be working for such a company without any brains.

"Yes, isn’t that right?" Galina asked, surprised.

Qian Lei decided to ask: "Wait, let ask. Old Sun, pass the walkie-talkie," he called out to the colleague driving in front.

"Oh," the driver handed over the walkie-talkie.

Standard equipnt for the convoy.

Holding down the button, Qian Lei softly called out, "Boss, are you there?"

"Yes, what’s up?" Chai Ren asked, puzzled.

"Did you have soone rescue Galina?" Qian Lei asked.

Chai Ren was taken aback, unable to comprehend how Qian Lei knew about it. He hadn’t said anything yet. When things weren’t done right, he never jumped the gun, so he asked in confusion, "Ehm... I... how did you know?"

"Galina called to say she’s been rescued. The person who saved her said it was related to , but I have no clue what’s going on. I just wanted to ask if you knew, because it’s so similar to the big thing that happened today..." Qian Lei explained.

Chai Ren couldn’t believe it: "What?... Bang... Ouch, could you repeat that? Galina was rescued? And they’re saying it’s related to you?"

"Yeah."

"...hisss...hang on, ummm..." Chai Ren gasped. This happened so fast. He glanced at his watch. Hell, it was just half an hour since the task was issued. Were planning and travel completely unnecessary?

This power.

How many people do they have in Africa?

The fighter in the front seat admitted, "Galina has already been rescued by our people. She just needs to follow them."

"..."

Chai Ren was at a loss for words. He spoke into the walkie-talkie, "Qian Lei, it’s true. I did have soone rescue Galina. Tell Galina not to panic, to follow that person, and comply with the arrangents."

Qian Lei was pleasantly surprised: "Yes, did you hear that Galina? My boss had soone rescue you. Follow them, follow their instructions, don’t panic, and you’ll be safe soon."

"I understand..." Galina finally felt at ease.

They talked for a few more monts.

Then ended the call.

She reassured her father, Ivanovich, telling him she was safe and that Ivanovich told her to head straight to Rwanda, where he would arrange for soone to et her.

"Here." Galina handed the phone back.

The fighter stowed the phone away and advised, "For the rest of the journey, don’t talk much, don’t open the window, and everything will be fine once we leave Bei Ji province."

"Okay."

Galina nodded fervently. As long as they were on her side, she could rest easy. She leaned back in her seat, finally letting her tensed body relax. As she looked at the strange yet familiar surroundings, Galina considered Qian Lei’s boss’s identity.

Who could it be?

Daring to snatch hostages from Sadoke in this country.
