He talked to Ling for less than half an hour.

Wangsa then left.

Of course, the matter was not fully discussed.

Because it was impossible to finalize the details in just a few sentences.

Further and deeper communication between the two sides was needed; now, they had only spoken roughly.

This was the first major issue Ling had approached their family to handle. Could Wangsa refuse? Of course not; he even dared not ntion difficulties, because in negotiations, ntioning difficulties is negotiating terms.

Wangsa certainly did not dare to negotiate any terms with Ling.

Previously, relying on their friendly relationship,

Ling had already given his family enough benefits.

The money, so much that it exceeded their family’s total assets from before.

Perhaps.

This was the reason Ling took such good care of their family, just waiting for a critical mont to ask for their help. As for whether it was for the bank license, it should not be; Ling would not think so far ahead.

Wangsa shook his head vigorously.

What’s the point of thinking about this? What’s real is to go back and discuss with Father what to do.

Wangsa got into the car.

Quickly returned to his own camp.

He made a phone call to his father.

"A bank license?"

Having listened to his son, Wangsa’s father murmured.

He really could not understand why Ling would do this, knowing that now all trade transactions use Myanmar Bank’s financial channels, which are not subject to any regulation from the Thai side.

Now, opening a bank in Thailand would be subject to the Bank of Thailand’s regulation.

An unnecessary shackle out of nowhere.

What exactly is Ling up to?

What’s the aning of doing this?

One must know, capital exists for profit, and Ling’s actions show no visible profit points; it seems like a superfluous move, wasting capital, or perhaps for asset transfer. But for transfer, there’s no need for Thai Baht; Ling has plenty of channels.

It doesn’t make sense.

Now, the Wangsa family is faced with two things to help with.

First, to obtain a bank license.

Second, to convince the Bank of Thailand to agree to reserve Asia Dollars.

The forr is relatively doable.

The latter is difficult.

"Did you agree to all this?" Wangsa’s father asked again.

Wangsa nodded and said, "Yes, Father, this ti Ling is determined. I once tested his determination, and it was very firm. You know, Ling has never failed or given up on what he wants to do. I could only agree; otherwise, I’m afraid I won’t have the face to see him next ti."

Wangsa’s father was silent for a mont.

He humd and said, "You did the right thing. The Myanmar Economic Zone has beco the main source of inco for our family; the family cannot give up. No matter how difficult, we must help. Did he say how to go about it?"

Having heard his father’s words.

Wangsa breathed a sigh of relief.

It was good that he wasn’t blad for making decisions on his own.

Wangsa slowly said, "Ling wants us to secure the approval first, to obtain a bank license that allows Myanmar Bank to establish a branch in Thailand and carry out general banking services.

I’m not sure if it’s a lack of funds, but Ling doesn’t want to acquire an existing Thai bank. He wants to have absolute control over a new bank with minimal investnt—this was not his words but my analysis.

Afterward, he wants us to act as a go-between, introducing so important people from relevant Thai departnts. The rest of the operations regarding currency reserves, he will handle. Therefore, we only need to do two things. First, secure the bank license, and then help with introductions."

"Just introductions?"

Wangsa’s father asked with confusion.

Could it be that Ling wants to bribe them?

Uh, that doesn’t quite match Ling’s image. Ling is always direct and straightforward. If it’s just about introducing people... Maybe he doesn’t want to be too deeply involved? Could there be other reasons behind it?

Amid the confusion,

Wangsa said, "Yes, he ntioned that the first thing was to deal with a series of departnts quickly, but the second objective only required the consent of so key individuals; hence, he thought of having us act as a go-between. I believe Deputy Leader Ling’s purpose is to make use of our family’s na, though he didn’t elaborate on the specifics of the persuasion thod."

Deputy Leader Ling’s words.

Made sense logically.

But Wangsa’s father always felt there was sothing odd about it.

"Understood, the family will handle this. I’ll have soone prepare, and tomorrow soone from the family will co to have a detailed discussion with you. Then you can take him to et with Deputy Leader Ling, as we need to cooperate on this," Wangsa’s father decided.

"Yes, Father."

After hanging up the phone,

Wangsa lay back in his chair.

It seed like there was nothing more for him to do.

But he was happy for the leisure.

On the other hand,

His family’s think tank started to get busy. It was their first ti dealing with such a matter, and it involved coordinating with too many departnts. After all, the issuing of banking licenses in Thailand was extrely strict.

Without the backing of soone with imnse influence,

Don’t even think about it.

Even for Wangsa’s family to pull strings was no simple matter.

There were many efforts yet to be made, and this didn’t only involve the Bank of Thailand; they also had to speak with many people in the Thai governnt. Without the signature of the number one person in Thailand, just passing the individual departntal reviews wouldn’t even allow them to go through the Bank of Thailand’s general process.

...

The next day,

A team from Bangkok arrived where Wangsa was.

After discussing for a while,

Wangsa took them to et Deputy Leader Ling.

Soon,

The negotiations reached a critical point.

"Deputy Leader Ling, the current issue mainly lies in the review of the necessity for issuing the bank license. This review is the strictest and most important. Every bank that wants to open a branch in Thailand must have a compelling reason for existence and is subject to cautious scrutiny.

For foreign banks’ branches, the standards are even stricter. For a bank like Myanmar Bank, there has to be a very strong case to persuade them. Of course, we will do our best to help lobby, but the reasons provided must be ample.

Otherwise, the initial review is the strictest, and it’s possible to fail. Subsequent attempts have a high success rate, but that also wastes ti, doesn’t it?" Wangsa’s family butler said respectfully.

To be able to help up to this point,

Was already the full effort of Wangsa’s family.

After all, Wangsa’s family was just a military family in Thailand. They didn’t have absolute power to interfere with the Thai governnt’s affairs at will. Necessary procedures had to be adequate; otherwise, it would be handing over leverage.

Ling nodded.

"I will provide the materials for the necessity review. If there are any issues caused by insufficient materials, we will take responsibility on our side."

The preparation of these materials could be considered both easy and difficult. It was about solving the "Why should I agree to your bank opening?" issue. If it couldn’t serve any positive social or economic purpose, then you weren’t allowed to open.

"That’s good. There’s another issue, regarding the Myanmar side of things. Previously, bilateral settlents were mainly in Asia Dollars, with a limited use of Myanmar Kyat and other countries’ currencies. However, in future trade, the Bank of Thailand will definitely use the Myanmar Kyat as the exchange benchmark. As a result, the Myanmar Central Bank must open another settlent account for the Bank of Thailand; this issue..."

The butler looked at Ling,

aning just one thing.

Without the consent of the Myanmar Central Bank,

This matter would not be feasible.

Direct settlent in Asia Dollars

Was simply not possible.

Even with the greatest reason, the Bank of Thailand would not agree to use the currency of another country’s region as the settlent currency without the consent of the Myanmar Central Bank and the Myanmar Governnt. However, the butler believed that Ling had already prepared for this.

"I will resolve this issue," Ling imdiately promised.

"That’s good; there’s nothing else problematic then. It has been an honor to serve you this ti, and thank you for your longstanding support of our family," the butler said with a broad smile, being the family butler and one of their elders.

He had the right to say these words.

"Mutual benefits have drawn us together. It’s all down to fate," Ling said with a light smile.
