Leng Yebai pedaled his bicycle, without stopping along the way, directly entering the Yunhua Safety Base.
The Base Commander followed him all the way into the base, fully imrsed in a world of mutual pursuit with his son.
He hadn’t co to his senses for quite so ti.
It was an enjoyable and beautiful day.
Zhang Chen shyly grabbed the corner of the Base Commander’s clothes, letting others at the safety base watch as this usually stern Base Commander rode an electric bike with her.
She felt that others were envious, thinking she might be the Base Commander’s woman.
In reality, in most people’s minds, the image of the Base Commander instantly grew more grand.
Not only was the Base Commander’s superpower formidable, he was also very patient with children, helping those in distress return to the safety base.
He completely didn’t consider any romantic inclinations.
Zhang Chen’s face was too tender for people to associate her with the mature and formidable Base Commander.
It wasn’t until they got to the bus that the Base Commander snapped out of it.
"Son, daughter-in-law, that friend of yours seems quite special. What’s his story?" The Base Commander suddenly rembered his son’s two friends who radiated a dangerous aura.
He had roughly guessed their identities; this type of dangerous aura he had only sensed from the Zombie King he defeated last ti.
"There’s no grand story, just a little bit of spiritual ability, can control one or two regular zombies," Leng Yebai replied.
"Really?" The Base Commander asked, half-believing.
Leng Yebai didn’t explain further, turning away to board the bus.
He didn’t have a particularly good relationship with the Base Commander, and explaining too much would only raise suspicion.
"Hey, hey, hey, don’t leave! I have more questions to ask!"
The Base Commander strode after Leng Yebai.
"What’s there to ask? Isn’t it just a rare spiritual ability!" Leng Yebai frowned, continued, "Did you look at the list I gave you today? That is the most important thing."
The Base Commander paused for a mont, then pulled out the list that Leng Yebai had given him from his pocket.
With just a glance, he recognized several people on the list.
Their superpower breakthrough speed was fast; they were born strong.
But if they absorbed the crystal cores of human superpower users, it seed... they weren’t geniuses after all.
They could only be considered opportunists.
Superpower users who absorbed the crystal cores of other human superpower users are the least tolerable by humans, because they don’t know when they’ll turn against their fellow superpower users.
If absorbing the crystal cores from humans’ brains becos the main source of superpower evolution, it would be nearly catastrophic for humanity.
Because, in the end, only one superpower user would remain at the pyramid’s pinnacle, using the rest as stepping stones.
The Base Commander’s face grew more serious; he was more concerned about the issue of absorbing human superpower user brain crystal cores.
If he didn’t know them, it was one thing, but if soone at Yunhua Safety Base was involved, a solution must be found.
Thinking of this, the Base Commander returned to the base building with the list.
In his private office, the Base Commander pulled out a worn pocket watch from his chest, quietly gazing at the photo inside.
More than twenty years have passed, yet her face remains vividly etched in his mind.
No matter what happens in the world, the scene of her at his side is as real as yesterday.
She was graceful on the outside, yet a stubborn girl at heart.
The Base Commander’s most vivid mory is from his student days, when he walked with an air of arrogance due to his family’s wealth.
Hua looked at him, deed him disagreeable, too annoying.
So she pinned him and his brothers to the ground and beat them...
Every ti he recalls it, the Base Commander feels a sense of warmth.
This is what truly ans childhood playmates!
"Bang, bang, bang!"
Knocks sounded at the door outside.
The Base Commander clutched the pocket watch to his chest, his voice returning to its familiar coolness, "Co in."
With a creak, Song Hongfei ca in from outside, softly closing the door behind him.
"Sit."
The Base Commander pointed to the chair opposite, signaling Song Hongfei to sit down.
Song Hongfei was always apprehensive in the Base Commander’s office, facing the superpowerful Base Commander, the pressure sitting opposite him was imnse.
Now that the Base Commander asked him to sit, it seed so important matters were to be discussed, not sothing that could be resolved quickly.
"You know these people, right?"
The Base Commander placed a piece of paper in front of Song Hongfei.
It was a crisp white A4 sheet, the handwriting on it was bold and flowing, listing over a dozen nas.
Most were mbers of the superpower team, with a few team leaders, the most prominent na being — Feng Ge.
Feng Ge, though young, had a formidable superpower, already a fourth rank peak superpower user.
Had once repelled a zombie horde alongside the Base Commander, protecting the safety base.
Now he was part of the safety base’s leadership, head of the superpower team.
Considered to provide the highest sense of security at the base besides the Base Commander.
Song Hongfei glanced at the ink, still wet.
It was clearly a list the Base Commander had just written down.
Yet at a glance, Song Hongfei had an inkling; these were powerful and talented superpower users.
Could the Base Commander be planning to form a suicide squad or sothing similar?
"Of course, I know these people; they’re all young and talented superpower users at the base. Their ranks are improving quickly; their future prospects are substantial." Song Hongfei said with a gratified smile.
Though all manner of monsters appeared in the world, there still are remarkable superpower users among humans.
As long as people keep striving, there will eventually co a day when they stand atop the pyramid once again, restoring the world to how it was before the apocalypse.
"What do you think of their character?" The Base Commander asked again.
"Character?"
Song Hongfei hadn’t expected the Base Commander to ask that; before the apocalypse, he possessed billions in wealth, a business genius who could always expertly gauge people.
Why would he ask him such a question?
Song Hongfei didn’t think much about it, simply voicing what he’d observed.
"They’re young, their superpower abilities improve quickly, occasionally they might express arrogance, might even bully ordinary people, but most are quite good. Whenever danger arises at the base, they always step up, never shying away. Not completely good, but definitely not bad," Song Hongfei paused, added, "Especially Feng Ge, for soone his age, it’s rare to be so mature, stable, and responsible."
The Base Commander drumd his fingers on the desk, as if pondering sothing.
Song Hongfei couldn’t tell what the Base Commander was thinking, so he waited in the chair.
The Base Commander never spoke nonsense; soone as sparing with words like him packed usefulness into every single word uttered.
"Do you want to see your daughter?"
The Base Commander suddenly asked.
Song Hongfei was taken aback; he thought the Base Commander would continue with the discussion about the dozen young people.
Never anticipated the question would concern his daughter!
Song Hongfei’s first reaction was, Song Kerou must have caused trouble again.
This girl was always getting into trouble outside, recently even got beaten up, and who knows what kind of ss she’s involved in now.
Now, even the Base Commander knows about his unruly daughter constantly causing issues.
Thinking of this, Song Hongfei felt his head buzzing.
Exhausting.
Back then, truly was drowned and kicked by a donkey in thought, to consider Song Kerou well-behaved and lovable!
