Bai Xiqin and Zhang Yiming brushed past each other. Zhang Yiming stood silently in place, his pale fingers slightly tensing, then slowly relaxing.

He took a deep breath, only to sll the scent of mutant wolf blood splattered on her.

The bloody scent pierced his nostrils, raging in his mind.

Restrain, restrain again, he suppressed his instincts to the limit.

The blood scent tornted his mind into a blank slate, yet the corners of his mouth were lifted in a smile.

Just a mont ago, he and she were rely half a step apart.

Once they had walked a distance away from him, he followed them from afar.

"Xiao Ming, where are you planning to go? Aren’t you heading to the safety base?" Bai Xiqin turned her head and asked.

Zhang Yiming’s Fire Ability was quite special, obviously making him a target for the research institute.

"I still need to find my friend, I’m not planning to go to the safety base yet."

Zhang Yiming showed a standard smile, clean and sunny just like before the apocalypse.

"Alright then!" Bai Xiqin glanced towards the safety base and reminded him, "Don’t flaunt your wealth, be careful not to get caught by so lunatics for experints!"

The research institute pursued her and Leng Yebai because of their special superpowers.

Zhang Yiming’s Fire Ability was also unique, with its intensely scorching flas, possibly attracting attention from the sa institute.

There was a brief mont of panic on Zhang Yiming’s gentle face.

Could it be, she knows I am...?

"Xiao Niu, what are you talking about? I don’t understand," Zhang Yiming tried to remain calm.

"Nothing, really. I just watched a drama about a scientist who cuts people up for experints. Your ability is so special, it’s easy to end up dissected," Bai Xiqin said.

Zhang Yiming silently gazed into Bai Xiqin’s eyes, those pure eyes seemingly recalling sothing.

Fortunately, it wasn’t disgust.

She hadn’t discovered it.

"Alright, I will be careful," Zhang Yiming smiled gently.

The bright sunlight cast its rays over Zhang Yiming, perfectly illuminating his soft features, like a deity in the mortal world.

The deity’s eyes held the stars, as clean and bright as always.

Suddenly, those star-filled eyes lowered, briefly glancing back before resuming normalcy.

Leng Yebai squinted, looking behind Zhang Yiming.

Zhang Yiming discreetly blocked Leng Yebai’s line of sight.

"Roar——"

In the distance ca the roar of a zombie.

Leng Yebai slightly relaxed, no longer looking behind Zhang Yiming, and quietly hooked his finger with Bai Xiqin’s.

"Xiao Niu, I have sothing to attend to, I must go now, you..." Zhang Yiming hesitated.

"We’ll stick around a bit longer, it’s been so long since we’ve seen such lush greenery," Bai Xiqin glanced at the verdant woods, feeling in a good mood.

The forests before the apocalypse were not this lush, with sparse, frail leaves.

Now, wherever you look, it’s all green.

The environnt is indeed much better than before the apocalypse.

Staying a bit longer might even allow catching a plump mutant rabbit.

A field trip barbecue, perfect.

Zhang Yiming opened his mouth to say sothing but didn’t.

Looking back at the distance, Zhang Yiming’s eyes flickered with a hint of hostility.

The distant zombie roars cald montarily, then intensified once more, more violently.

Turning back, Zhang Yiming wore a gentle smile again.

"Xiao Niu, is that green garbage truck your family’s? I saw Grandpa Bai get off from it last ti!"

Zhang Yiming pointed towards the overhead bridge.

In the distance, a green garbage truck was seen speeding in their direction on the bridge.

Bai Xiqin looked in the direction Zhang Yiming pointed, "That’s Uncle Wang’s garbage truck, Uncle Wang is a friend of my grandfather. They are very close, often going out to ’find supplies’ together."

The garbage truck was running on the elevated bridge, getting closer.

"Roar――"

Zombie roars emanated from the elevated bridge, growing more distinct.

Evidently, there was more than one zombie.

"Why so many?"

Leng Yebai frowned, looking up at the elevated bridge.

A horde of zombies chased frantically after the garbage truck.

This could be considered a minor zombie tide!

As if any second now, it might catch up to the garbage truck.

Though they were low-level zombies, their numbers were overwhelming, crowding together, lunging towards the garbage truck.

Every ti, they were just a bit short of catching the garbage truck.

Bai Xiqin held her forehead.

She didn’t know these old n were playing so daringly now!

Usually, they provoked at most a few hundred zombies; now there were several thousand!!!

A dense mass of zombies blocked the elevated bridge, as if about to collapse it any second.

"We’ll head off first, you go find your friend!"

Bai Xiqin pulled Leng Yebai along, heading out to find a spot to get onto the bridge and catch up with the speeding garbage truck.

"Okay, you guys be careful!"

Zhang Yiming stood firmly, watching the two walk away.

The green garbage truck kept advancing, quickly disappearing, still visible was that horde of zombies.

Zombies relentlessly chased after, forming a lengthy trail, appearing spectacularly tragic.

Leng Yebai and Bai Xiqin quickly vanished, barely visible was the zombie herd still surging forward.

A bee, the size of a mandarin duck, chased in the direction of Bai Xiqin and Leng Yebai.

Zhang Yiming glanced at the oddly-sized bee, not giving it much thought.

With the apocalypse, animals mutated in bizarre ways, seeing a hideous bird was nothing unusual.

Qin Yuan didn’t realize in Zhang Yiming’s eyes, it looked like an ugly bird, it rely chased frantically towards its owner’s direction.

Master, you left here behind!

Seeing people approaching, it didn’t dare speak, only focused on pursuing its master relentlessly.

Zhang Yiming raised his gaze to the zombies on the elevated bridge, eyes narrowing slightly, exuding a cold aura.

The zombie herd in the rear stilled montarily, then ran in the opposite direction of the garbage truck.

The zombies chasing the garbage truck ahead continued their pursuit.

However, now, the zombie roars weren’t as intense as before.

As if they were chasing simply for the sake of it.

Zhang Yiming turned back, walking into the forest.

The forest was quiet, the pungent scent from the burning mutant wolves still lingering in his nose.

Zhang Yiming walked steadily in one direction, the further he went, the quieter it got, not even the chirping of insects could be heard.

Zhang Yiming stood expressionless by a large tree, eyes fixed ahead.

"Co out!"

Zhang Yiming’s voice was deathly cold.

From the green vines ahead ca a commotion, and a man in a white suit erged.

"Young man, that’s quite a skill you have!"

The handso man in a suit had an exquisite appearance, his eyebrows charmingly evil, the white suit accentuated his gentlemanly deanor.

"What do you want to do?" Zhang Yiming’s eyes looked behind him.

"Haha, worthy of the Zombie King, sensing things even like this, I even picked the smartest zombies on purpose!"

A sly grin flashed across the handso man’s face, his mouth curling strangely.
