"Yes, it’ll be all checked by noon tomorrow. Director Wang, you should know the questionable areas I pointed out; we will address this tomorrow afternoon."

"Hmm, I can still recall them, but they can’t be accounted for."

"Director Wang, this won’t do at all. Everything must be accounted for.

Okay, let’s not talk about work during break ti; we’ll discuss this in the afternoon. I’m headed to eat first."

She carried her lunchbox to the cafeteria, queued for food, and declined others’ offers to cut in line.

"Xinyu, I’ll wait for you over there."

"Okay, just what I needed to talk to you."

As they ate, they talked. "Sis, tomorrow night co to my house to do so work; Sister She will co too. The three of us can be much faster."

"No problem, I’ll head over right after lunch."

"I want all of you to co together; it’s chaotic outside, and having my brother-in-law along makes feel more secure."

"Hmm, what kind of work? Maybe don’t bring the kids, it’s distracting."

"It’s fine, I’m planning on making peach preserves; the kids can co along and enjoy the peaches."

After lunch, Jiang Xinyu left on her bike. She went to Wei Kaiyun’s place; she originally wanted to go last night to retrieve things but didn’t have the chance.

She had to use the noon break instead; leaving them outside worried her. Plus, she didn’t dare go out at night.

She reached the entrance, opened the gate and pushed her bike inside.

She went directly to the cellar. She moved the cabinet, and put everything inside, finally feeling secure about it.

She restored everything back to its original state, and only then did she leave on her bike.

"Vice Factory Director Jiang, Vice Factory Director Jiang, hold on a mont."

Jiang Xinyu stopped puzzled; what was Wang Dajiang’s intention?

"Comrade, what’s the matter?"

"Vice Factory Director Jiang, can we talk?"

"Sorry, I don’t have the ti."

"I understand, Vice Factory Director Jiang must be especially busy, so I’ll be brief." This rare encounter is a chance he couldn’t miss.

Jiang Xinyu leaned against her bike, "Just say what’s on your mind, but I can only spare ten minutes."

"Director Jiang, I ca to tell you about a certain matter.

Our Director Kong has always had a notion towards you, he’s ntioned more than once wanting a wife like you."

Jiang Xinyu was genuinely disgusted, "Thank you, comrade, I understand. If there’s any future need, feel free to reach out; I owe you one, but it must be within my ans."

"Having Vice Factory Director Jiang’s assurance puts at ease."

Both rode off separately, leaving Jiang Xinyu increasingly angry. Upon returning to her office, she drank so water while calling Wei Kaiyun.

"Hello, Wei Kaiyun."

"It’s ."

"Xinyu?"

"I just went out and ran into soone from the Revolutionary Committee, Wang Dajiang secretly inford that Kong Demin always had improper thoughts about ."

"No worries, I have ways to get him out."

"Alright, it’s up to you."

"Okay, I got it. How’s the family?"

"We’re fine, don’t worry. I’ve already put things away, there’s nothing to worry about."

"Good, I understand. Just be careful these days."

"Understood, let’s release the line. Take care of yourself too."

Wei Kaiyun reluctantly put down the receiver, his mind filled with thoughts of his family. He tried not to think about them, but hearing from his wife brought an overwhelming sense of longing, almost unbearable.

After a while, he picked up the phone again. Arrangents must be made for Kong Demin’s downfall; daring to covet his wife was repulsive even to think about.

Wei Kaiyun made five calls, and arrangents were set; yet he still wasn’t pleased, the Revolutionary Committee’s affairs were hard to ddle in, but disposing of one insignificant Kong Demin was certainly feasible.

After hanging up, Jiang Xinyu went to lie down for a brief rest; an afternoon of account scrutiny awaited her. Truly, it was no easy task.

Just as she lay down, a knock on the door sounded; with no other choice, she got up, abandoning her hope for a nap.

"Mr. Qian, please co in."

"Vice Factory Director Jiang, how’s the account discrepancies?"

"Up till now, ten transactions were found problematic. Mr. Wang can recall most, but categorizing them remains tricky."

"It’s always about connections from above."

"I understand, but it still needs to be docunted; vague categorizations won’t suffice."

"Could they be docunted directly?"

Jiang Xinyu shook her head, "That’s too risky financially, Mr. Qian. With the Revolutionary Committee being so arrogant, any issues would indeed be troubleso for us."

"But docunting them directly could also cause trouble."

"Mr. Qian, with the current lack of accounting regulation, you could apply for a special fund—includes so discreet items—then you can directly categorize them under special fund.

But the downside is significant; if you ever get investigated, it’ll be an enormous problem."

Qian Jun remained silent, not wanting to bear such a burden. Yet, truthfully noting things risks offending people above, which is even more dangerous.

He knew preventing Jiang Xinyu from investigating was impossible; knowing the potential risks, he didn’t want her taking the fall.

"Is there no other way?"

"Mr. Qian, I think a eting involving the heads and above should be called, and the union should be involved as well."

Qian Jun imdiately understood Jiang Xinyu’s intention, aiming to pull everyone into this.

"Alright, I’ll host a eting for this tomorrow morning."

Qian Jun felt secure. He hadn’t touched that money, keen on not being dismissed, thus staying honest. He refused to shoulder this bla alone.

Jiang Xinyu’s idea was excellent, law seldom punishes the collective; it was a mutual decision from a eting. Why hadn’t this solution been recognized before?

However, he soon realized there would likely be opposition. So won’t agree; the position’s appeal is undeniable.

Unlike Yao Shimin or Jiang Xinyu, he lacked academic background or technical expertise. He had nothing.

Moreover, he had little authority left, no one to support him.

Yet, without trying, he’d have to bear the responsibility alone, which wouldn’t do. A eting was necessary; anyone causing trouble would be dealt with permanently.

Qian Jun resolved, feeling much comforted. It was regrettable not being part of Jiang Xinyu’s family; he would have gained significant help and, potentially, further advancent.

Why did she belong to soone else? Even if he compromised, she still rejected him?

Right, Jiang Xinyu was clever. She surely sensed his slight disdain towards the two children.

It was his miscalculation; he should have displayed better. Even with a young woman, without benefits, he wasn’t interested.
