It was almost seven o’clock when a car pulled up outside; it was a car from the Public Security Bureau.

Everyone in the yard gathered round to greet Tao Juncheng.

However, Wei Kaiyun, sitting next to Shen Xueqi, was feeling quite jealous. Dinner finished rather quickly. Everyone was aware of what had happened at noon, not out of fear, but to avoid trouble. The people tonight held even more power than those at noon.
Qian Jun had been wrestling with his thoughts, but when asked about the events at noon, he finally made up his mind.
After Tao Juncheng finished eating, Qian Jun invited him inside and handed him an envelope.

After seeing off all the guests, Jiang Xinyu and Yao Shimin stayed behind to help clean up.
There was even more food left over tonight, but neither of them wanted any. Gao Ruyun hesitated nearby.
She wanted to take the leftovers ho but didn’t have the courage this late at night.

When they arrived at the entrance to Jiang Xinyu’s alley, "You can go back now. I’m ho, don’t worry."

Jiang Xinyu reached her front door, seeing it half-open, she waved to Yao Shimin in the distance and went inside.
Upon hearing the noise, Wei Kaiyun imdiately ca out, took her bike, and pushed it into the side room.
They went inside, "It was Yao Shimin who walked ho."
"Hmm, darling, I gave so of Kong Demin’s information to Secretary Cao today."
"Hehe, I wonder if he might turn the tides?"
"It looks tough. You know Qian Jun’s character. Even though they are on the sa side, with today’s embarrassnt, he won’t let it go easily."
"I was really surprised today; I didn’t expect Tao Juncheng to co."
"He must feel he has nothing to fear,
I prepared so water for us, shall we go bathe together?" Wei Kaiyun didn’t want to discuss these issues with his wife.

By the ti they lay down, it was already past ten in the evening.
After Jiang Xinyu and Yao Shimin left, Gao Ruyun couldn’t hold back anymore, "Qian Jun, there are so many leftovers; I want to bring them to my family, we can’t finish them ourselves."

So, he said nothing more and went inside to find his change of clothes.
Gao Ruyun felt a bit wronged. She was just trying to avoid waste. Why treat her like this? Even though it was late, it was still scary to go out.
She loaded all the dishes into a wooden bucket, tied it to the bike’s back seat, and walked it ho since it was more comfortable than carrying them.
Summoning her courage, Gao Ruyun walked down the street. When she finally got ho, it took a while of knocking before soone ca to the door.
"Mom, these are the leftovers from tonight. Take them inside; I’ll head back now. Wake up my brother to walk back—I’m scared."
"If you dared co all the way here, what are you afraid of going back? Your brother’s already asleep."
With no other choice, Gao Ruyun had to ride her bike back alone.
The two houses were only a ten-minute bike ride apart, but the more scared Gao Ruyun felt, the more it seed like soone was following her.
In a pitch-black alley, soone suddenly grabbed her and pulled her off the bike.
Terrified, Gao Ruyun let out a scream, imdiately gagged by the assailant.
After his bath, Qian Jun thought it was taking too long for Gao Ruyun to return, so he angrily rode out to search for her.
He thought he heard a man’s heavy breathing in the alley. He quietly put down his bike and slipped inside.
In the distance, he saw a man lying on the ground, his body rising and falling.
Initially intending to leave, Qian Jun suddenly spotted the bike on the ground—it was Gao Ruyun’s.
He imdiately charged forward, kicked the man off, and began to beat him.
Gao Ruyun lay motionless on the ground.
Once the man was immobilized, Qian Jun used the bike’s rope to tie him up.
Getting closer, he realized the woman was indeed Gao Ruyun.
Shaking with anger, Qian Jun squatted, adjusted her clothes, and hastily knocked on a door.
After a while, an elderly man finally ca out.
"Sir, please go to the police station—a beast has assaulted this female comrade." Qian Jun instinctively didn’t reveal she was his wife.
"Alright, I’ll go right away."
Qian Jun squatted, looking at the motionless Gao Ruyun. He carefully pulled out what was stuffed in her mouth, only to feel she wasn’t breathing.
Qian Jun was frightened. He frantically checked for a pulse in her neck. Nothing. It seed too risky to move her now.
In a hurry, he knocked on another door, greeted by a middle-aged man this ti, "Comrade, please go to the hospital—an assaulted female comrade is here, and I can’t feel her breath?"
"Alright, I’ll go right away."
"Brother, my bike is right outside the alley—take it to get there quicker."
