"Hmm, go sit by the stove, your hair will dry faster, don’t catch a cold."

"But then my hair will sll like smoke. I don’t like that, I’ll keep drying it."

Wei Kaiyun stood behind Jiang Xinyu, and both appeared in the mirror.

The young lady was quite pleasant-looking, with a round face that was very endearing.

"Director Wei, do I need to prepare anything for the trip?"

"Just have your personal items ready. We’re staying outside, there’s a house there."

"Yours?"

"Yes. I used to work at a textile factory in the province." This explained why he had a house there.

"Why not stay at the textile factory?"

"It’s too chaotic, you’ve never stayed in a dorm, it’s uncomfortable, you can’t rest well at all."

"Oh, I imagine it’s not very peaceful."

"We’ll go to the Capital first, then we’ll head to the Provincial City."

"I have no objections. Should I go buy the tickets first?"

"No need, we’re driving there."

"No driver?"

Wei Kaiyun shook his head, "No, I can drive myself."

"You can teach to drive, I can take over if you get tired."

Wei Kaiyun’s eyes lit up, "Sure, driving is very simple, I’ll teach you tomorrow."

"Let’s do it at noon; I don’t want to take ti away from work."

Wei Kaiyun just smiled and didn’t say anything.

"Director Wei, where’s Master Yang?"

"He went to the Capital."

"Gosh! I was hoping to have that master build the bathroom during this ti, so it’s ready when we get back."

"Let’s wait until you return to discuss it. It won’t be too late, it should be ready in ti for you."

Jiang Xinyu nodded helplessly, "Director Wei, it’s getting late." Her hair was dry, and she wanted to sleep.

"Okay, then I’ll be going."

The next day, after Jiang Xinyu finished cleaning, Wei Kaiyun arrived.

"Today we’re going to the county, Qian Jun, the three of us will go together."

"Alright."

The main agenda for the eting was Qian Jun’s appointnt as the deputy director of the textile factory.

"Xiao Wei, the deputy director’s appointnt was quite fast, huh?"

"The province called, asking to go for training; Tao County Magistrate ntioned there was no deputy director, I just ntioned it over there, and the appointnt was confird the next day."

"Haha." Tao Juncheng clearly didn’t believe it, probably worried about the governnt assigning soone, right?

"Little Qian, make sure you do a good job."

"County Magistrate Tao, rest assured, I’ll give it my all."

"Alright, everyone out, Xiao Wei, you stay."

"County Magistrate Tao?"

"That person disappeared without reason, and the higher-ups were alard; city leaders threw a big fit."

Wei Kaiyun sat there listening, without comnting.

"Xiao Wei, do you think there’s anything suspicious about this event? The two county magistrates who lost are going to the city every day."

"Going to the city won’t help, will it?"

"Exactly, it’s a major loss. The entire fundraised money of a county, luckily it didn’t involve people’s hard-earned money; otherwise, even the county magistrate’s position wouldn’t be safe."

"You’re the lucky and cautious one, otherwise, we’d be the ones worrying now."

"Isn’t that the truth? However, the money from the city’s steel factory hasn’t been in place yet."

"You don’t need to show them any courtesy; I know them."

"Yes, maybe I’ve been too mild-mannered."

"Alright, you guys still need to go to the city union, right? Better get going."

The three drove to the city. The union president was furious, the money swindled, ninety percent belonged to various factories, they create a scene daily, what could be done?

Upon hearing that Director Wei from the textile factory ca, he was quite puzzled, since their factory hadn’t suffered any losses.

It turned out the visit was about the deputy director’s appointnt, so he just exchanged a few simple words. Qian Jun registered, and the three didn’t linger.

"Secretary Jiang, you sit in the front, I’ll teach you to drive, it’ll help share the workload during the trip."

In her past life, Jiang Xinyu had learned to drive but never driven due to lack of opportunity.

So she was familiar with the basic theoretical knowledge about cars.

Kaiyun carefully explained the functions to her, "No need to be nervous, driving isn’t anything special, it’s just a matter of practice. Wanna give it a try?"

"Alright, you two, don’t be nervous."

"Haha." The two of them laughed simultaneously.

Qian Jun joked, "Are you sure it’s not you who should be nervous? Take it slow, it’s really quite simple."

Jiang Xinyu felt genuinely nervous, and when she got in the driver’s seat, she couldn’t reach the brake pedal, which was awkward. Wei Kaiyun was over six feet tall, and so was Qian Jun — their long legs ant the seat position was challenging for her, who was less than five foot three.

"There’s a lever on the left under the seat, pull it to adjust the position," Wei Kaiyun advised, stifling a laugh.

Jiang Xinyu was too focused to mind his amusent, adjusted her seat, and started the engine.

The car slowly started moving; though she was tense and every muscle was engaged, she gradually got the hang of it as she drove along.

"Not bad, relax, or you’ll be sore tomorrow."

The speed was consistently at twenty kiloters per hour, but she gradually relaxed her body.

"Shift up, you’re going too slow."

They arrived at the textile factory about half an hour later than usual. But the good news was Jiang Xinyu could drive now.

After getting off the car, the two watched her back up. She managed it, and the car was at least parked straight, even if she tried several tis.

"You’ve got it, now you can drive on our trip; you’ll be a pro."

"Director Wei, if I don’t want to be a secretary anymore, I could drive in the factory instead. The truck and the jeep should be similar, right?"

"You have big ambitions? Driving a truck?"

"Yeah, I think I have a knack for driving." As if painting a face on an A4 paper — such a big head.

Qian Jun laughed from the side, "Secretary Jiang, we could seriously give you that opportunity. When you return from the trip, spend a few days in the transportation departnt. Hahaha." He laughed heartily and walked off.

Jiang Xinyu felt a bit frustrated at being laughed at; she didn’t want to do manual labor, so driving seed appealing. But Qian Jun implied it wasn’t possible.

"Let’s go, ti to eat."

"Director Wei, how’s my driving skill so far?"

"Needs improvent."

"I’ll practice till I’m good at it."

That evening, the two had stead buns with millet porridge and boiled eggs for dinner.

"Jiang Xinyu, you’re so stingy. It’d be nice if I stayed here, then I wouldn’t have to commute daily."

Jiang Xinyu chose to ignore that topic altogether.

Soon it was Thursday night, "Jiang Xinyu, I’ll be here by six in the evening, it’d be great if you had sothing prepared to eat; it’s going to take a day and a night to reach the Capital at our pace."

"How about so pancakes?"

"Sure."

"And so pig head at, sliced and added into the pancakes."

"Mm, bring a thermos, and it’s best to carry a quilt, it’s cold in the car."

"Got it, I’ve prepared everything, and I’ll make the pancakes once you leave. One day’s worth of food should be enough, right?"

"Yes, one day’s is enough. We’ll leave Friday and should arrive in the Capital by Saturday morning."

"Understood. I plan to fill a thermos with millet porridge, so we have so porridge to eat too."

"You handle the food as you see fit."
