Zheng Lihong knew there was sothing to be discussed alone with her son. So she smiled and went back to her room.

Li Yunqiao led his son into the study.

"Hong Lin, what do you think about marrying Lu Fengzhen?"

"Dad, isn’t this your own matter? You’re single now. If you hadn’t divorced my mom, I might oppose it."

Li Yunqiao was quite satisfied with his son’s response.

"Actually, the night before I went out drinking, there were so issues, and I was in a very bad mood. I drank too much and ca back demanding her.

I didn’t expect her to still be a virgin. So I must take responsibility for this.

That’s the first reason, and also because that day I started having the idea of marrying her."

"Dad, we really have no objections. Whom you marry is your own business, and I think Aunt Lu has good character. It’s nice if you two can beco a family."

"Yes, yesterday I took her back to my hotown, and we just returned today.

Tomorrow we are going to register our marriage. So far, there seem to be no issues with her character. We’ll slowly get to know each other better. If there’s anything wrong, I’ll teach her slowly."

"Okay, Dad, I congratulate you."

"Thank you." Li Yunqiao smiled, now it seems there are no issues with this marriage. Moving forward, he planned to work hard on it.

Li Honglin ca out of the study and bumped into Lu Fengzhen. Both felt a bit awkward, considering their age difference, now being stepson and stepmother.

Lu Fengzhen blushed deeply and quickly bowed her head, rushing back to her room.

She felt distressed; this was too embarrassing. How would they get along in the future?

Li Yunqiao took so hot water to wash up, and afterwards still went to work. At this age, he couldn’t be a naive youngster anymore, he had to handle his responsibilities. From now on, it would be a long-lasting companionship.

Lu Fengzhen must have felt a bit uneasy, fearing that Li Yunqiao might co over, yet when the clock struck ten tis, he hadn’t co. How could she not feel slightly relieved, yet disappointed, and still a bit anxious, fearing that the kids might not approve.

After so futile pondering, she finally closed her eyes and went to sleep.

Li Yunqiao kept busy until one in the morning, then got up to move around. He smiled and entered his wife’s room.

Seeing his sweetly sleeping woman, Li Yunqiao undressed unhurriedly, then embraced her and had a round.

"You’ll have to go to work tomorrow," Lu Fengzhen mumbled.

"It’s fine, aren’t you worried about ? Don’t worry, I’ll definitely take care of you."

Lu Fengzhen wasn’t as thick-skinned as Li Yunqiao. She blushed and closed her eyes, ignoring him.

But she couldn’t fall asleep, feeling Li Yunqiao holding her, until he slept, she gently got out of bed, dressed, and quietly went to the bathroom to clean up. Then she ca back and lay next to Li Yunqiao.

This man was favored by heaven; although he was already forty-five, ti hadn’t left many marks on him.

Suddenly, Li Yunqiao opened his eyes, seeing his wife staring at him, smiled and hugged her tightly.

"Go to sleep, if you want, we can go for another round."

Lu Fengzhen quickly closed her eyes, lying still.

Li Yunqiao found his wife adorable, seeing such cuteness in a twenty-eight-year-old woman.

He held her tight, closed his eyes smiling, feeling quite tired, but in a good mood.

The next day, Lu Fengzhen still woke at five-thirty. Quietly, she got up, dressed, and started making breakfast in the kitchen.

Since there was so minced at left, she decided to make wontons; although everyone could only eat a few, it was a satisfying al.

Lu Fengzhen skillfully rolled the dough and wrapped wontons. She peeled a spring onion, chopped it, and made it into a batter, cooking a few egg pancakes.

The three of them got up at six-thirty, slling the aroma of the food, feeling quite cheerful.

Each had a bowl of noodle wonton soup, with Zheng Lihong’s bowl containing an egg.

There was also pickles and soybean paste, and everyone was quite satisfied.

"Aunt Lu, the minced at you prepared tastes really good."

"Lihong, do you like it? I’ll go to the supply and marketing cooperative today, if I can get more at, I’ll make more wontons and freeze them. You can have so whenever you like."

"Thank you, Aunt Lu. I’d like to eat so tofu."

"Yes, I’ll bring a basin to the cooperative."

"Aunt Lu, you could maybe take a lunch box, it’d be convenient to pack tofu in that."

"Actually, I know how to make tofu, and brought so soybeans. But I don’t know where we can find a machine to grind the soybean milk."

All three didn’t know, so for now, they could only buy tofu to eat.

"Aunt Lu, how about making so sauerkraut? I really want to eat that."

"Okay, there’s a basket of cabbage at ho. I’ll see if I can buy more at the cooperative, and I noticed there’s a vat in the storeroom. We can pickle it today," Lu Fengzhen said with a smile.

Zheng Lihong already knew about the young stepmother with her father.

Honestly, Lu Fengzhen seed quite nice and amicable.

After finishing breakfast, as Li Yunqiao was about to leave, he ntioned he’d co ho for lunch.

In the afternoon, they would get married, so he figured he’d co back ho at noon.

Lu Fengzhen tidied up the house, washed Li Yunqiao’s clothes, then carried a basket and a cage, packed with ticket stubs, and went to the cooperative.

She bought two pounds of eggs, fifty pounds of cabbage, a pound of streaky pork, and two blocks of tofu.

Thinking she could buy food every day, even if not consud imdiately, she could freeze it. Stewing sauerkraut would taste good later.

Already used to chores, carrying fifty pounds of cabbage wasn’t too difficult.

Once ho, she cleaned the vat, scalded the cabbage, planning to place the sauerkraut vat in the kitchen. In a few days, it’d be ready to eat.

Busy till ten-thirty, she finished pickling and cleaned the kitchen.

Rembering Li Yunqiao would be back for lunch, she prepared stead cornbread, sweet potatoes, and decided to make cabbage stewed tofu.

Li Yunqiao returned directly after work. His secretary laughed inwardly seeing how eager he seed, knowing the leader was indeed in a hurry.

Arriving ho, lunch was ready. Smiling, he hugged Lu Fengzhen, "Let’s eat, rest a bit, and at one-thirty we’ll go register our marriage. In the afternoon, we’ll go to the township to arrange your household registration; don’t wait until tomorrow. I’ll be busy in a few days. Let’s do it all today."

"Alright, I’ll listen to you."

After lunch, they had an hour, and though Li Yunqiao wanted to do sothing, it wasn’t possible, so he just cuddled his wife on the bed, chatting.

They left at one, and when the civil affairs bureau leader saw them coming to register their marriage, he personally managed the process, exchanged greetings, and then they went to the station to wait for the bus.

At the township, they just needed the police station proof of address transfer, so they could catch the last bus ho.

After going around, once ho, the young couple was there, cooking in the kitchen.

"Lihong, let do it."

"No need, Aunt Lu. The porridge is almost ready, I’m making cabbage tofu stew, and we’ve got corn bread left from lunch."
