Just before heading out, the old principal took a few more glances at the couple, Zhang Guoqing and Zhou Jiao. He really wanted to know which school this young couple had applied to.

Whether the county high school can beco famous all depends on Zhou Jiao. The old principal had high hopes for her, hoping she could beco the provincial champion and bring the school honor. While many people nowadays don’t care about this kind of reputation, he was different. He had taught students for so many years and hadn’t had a single outstanding student. The thought of it was truly frustrating!

Zhou Jiao had no idea the old principal had thought so far ahead. When she saw him looking over, she imdiately bowed slightly, respectfully making a gesture of salutation with her hands and giving him a slight smile.

This old gentleman deserved her respect. In this era, there were indeed many selfless people, but elders like the Old Captain and the old principal had morals that deserved even more admiration.

Watching the old principal leave, Zhou Jiao finally had a mont to answer Zhao Yuanyuan’s question, and she whispered to her to talk about it later at ho. It wasn’t an excuse.

Regarding the application preferences, she and Zhang Guoqing hadn’t reached an agreent yet.

As for the school, choosing a university in Beijing was unquestionable. After many comparisons, Huaqing University still seed the most ideal. The problem was that Huaqing University was now an engineering university. So what was she going to do?

Her husband wanted them to be at the sa school so he could take care of her. Zhou Jiao was quite moved by his intentions, though it would be better if he had no other thoughts. They had been together for many years, and she would never betray her love. Putting aside minor issues, she had her own concerns. Otherwise, she wouldn’t bother listening to his imaginative stories.

The foreign language departnt was risky! A military doctor lacked freedom! And the school histories of many places were chaotic! It was hard for him to rember all this. It seed he made it sound like she had no other options.

As soon as class was over, Zhao Yuanyuan quickly dragged Zhou Jiao away, making Zhang Guoqing so angry he wanted to smack the reckless girl—always so careless. Last ti Zhou Jiao had bumped her leg. Walking ho with Li Qinglin, Zhang Yuntao, and Zhao Hongbing, he was still considering whether to let this girl apply for the provincial city instead.

They hadn’t reached ho yet when they saw Ping’an eagerly guarding the door, standing next to Mr. Zhang.

Zhou Jiao didn’t have ti to chat with Zhao Yuanyuan; she hurried over to pick up her child. Worriedly looking at the child, she saw him grinning brightly, and her heart was relieved. She truly feared the child would have a miserable childhood like her own.

"The child is fine. Our Ping’an is very clever. When he saw dinner was ready, he said you both were coming back ho. He specifically ran to the door to wait and didn’t even want to play with the kids from the front yard."

Seeing Mr. Zhang smiling at his grandson, Zhou Jiao laughed, "Dad, why not let Mom wait until I get back? It’s exhausting to cook for so many people."

Zhao Yuanyuan, following closely behind, said, "I’ll go in and help first. Why didn’t my mom co over today? She’s got so nerve, with her daughter and son both here, yet she doesn’t co over..."

Before she could finish speaking, she had already run away.

Seeing this, Zhou Jiao shook her head and smiled. This temperant really says whatever cos to mind. She noticed Mr. Zhang chatting with Zhang Guoqing and the others and headed towards the kitchen with the child in her arms.

As she walked, she quietly asked, "Son, did you drink the juice mom gave you?"

Ping’an leaned close to her ear and whispered, "I drank it. Grandma gave a boiled egg, I couldn’t eat it, so I fed it to Grandpa and Grandma, and they praised for being a good boy."

Seeing him so pleased with himself, Zhou Jiao gave him a kiss on his cheek, "If you can’t finish, let Grandpa and Grandma have so, too. Rember not to stuff yourself. Tell Mom if you want to eat sothing."

The little tattle-tale leaned over and whispered in her ear, "Grandma was like this: Oh dear, Jiao Jiao is wasting things again. Grandpa was like: What are you talking about, let the child eat, that’s not wasting."

His mimicry of their tone was really spot-on! Zhou Jiao tried hard to stifle her laughter, lest she laugh and the little guy gets upset.

"Mom, I have to tell you, the little brother from the front got hit by his mom."

"Hmm, he got hit for being naughty."

Ping’an shook his head, "No. The little brother said: You’re not my mom, you’re a bad person, I’ll have my dad beat you up. I’ll tell my dad you stole buns and gave money to my grandma."

Zhou Jiao couldn’t help but laugh, patting her son’s hair, "Ping’an, you mimic so well. But that boy really is his mom’s real child. What his mom did was wrong, but he was wrong, too. Our Ping’an shouldn’t imitate bad examples."

"I don’t play with him. He always wants to pinch my cheeks. I hit him! Didn’t hurt him."

"And if he hits you, what would you do?"

Ping’an looked behind, then leaned in on Zhou Jiao’s ear and whispered, "Then I’ll hit him hard, after I hit, I’ll cry too."

"So smart! Rember not to hit the head."

The mother and son were so engrossed in their conversation that they didn’t notice soone had good hearing nearby.

Zhang Guoqing had been paying attention to his wife and son’s antics, and hearing this, he couldn’t help but chuckle to himself. His son was probably being spoiled by his wife. But that’s good too, as long as he’s not being bullied.

After dinner, Li Qinglin and the others hadn’t rushed back to school.

Everyone gathered in the living room discussing how to fill out the applications. Minds wandered, and imaginations took flight.

Zhang Yuntao listened for a long ti and finally understood. He confird again, "You an, lots of universities in other places are quite far apart? Like a university in Beijing is in the north and another in the south, is that what you’re saying?"

Li Qinglin nodded with a smile. His family had given him two locations to choose from, Beijing and the Northeast. But he wanted to go to the South, where he was fond of Jiangnan. He hadn’t seen what the South was like, but the descriptions in the books sounded good.

Zhang Yuntao shook his head, "I’ll stay in the Northeast. You guys can co back and see each other during New Year. If you go sowhere else, who knows when you’ll et again."

Zhao Yuanyuan frowned and snubbed him with a glance, pulling Zhou Jiao, "Have you decided where you want to go? I’ll ask the teacher if there are any closer and lower score universities."

Zhou Jiao disagreed, "Your second brother is applying to a university here, you’re running too far, and the family will worry. It’s not like we won’t have the chance to et. There’s winter and sumr breaks, and we only study for a few months a year."

Zhang Guoqing glanced at her, what she’s saying sounds convincing.

Li Qinglin knew everyone couldn’t decide imdiately. They needed to discuss this with their parents. This was about their future, and his family’s matriarch had already nagged him several tis.

After the group left, Zhou Jiao saw Mr. Zhang and Mother Zhang looking perplexed and began to explain the old principal’s notification from today, giving a rough introduction to several universities.

Mr. Zhang listened in a muddled way, half-understanding. After thinking for a while, he suggested Zhou Jiao write to Zhou Xiaozheng for advice. In his mind, a well-traveled and experienced relative must have a plan. However, he still uneasily ntioned that it was best for the young couple to fill in the application for the sa university.

Zhang Guoqing saw his mother nodding in agreent and chuckled privately. It seed Zhou Jiao, in everyone’s eyes, was like soft tofu, easily bullied and pitiful.
