Zhang Guoqing rode back to the Big Courtyard with a big smile on his face, cheerfully greeting everyone he t. Everyone asked if sothing good had happened to him.

Sothing good? Zhang Guoqing wanted to burst out laughing. Just now he couldn’t laugh out loud in front of minors; that would spoil his image as a big brother.

There are so many strange things in the world. Truly eye-opening!

Whenever he thought of how his wife narrowly escaped death, he wished he could stab that wicked woman. What goes around cos around, and now she finally falls into his hands.

Hmm, he has to put in so effort to prevent anyone from running back to the Northwest.

Life is too boring; it’s ti to add so fun. How else can he relieve his resentnt?

"Xiao Wu, you’re back? Where did you run off to again, why didn’t you eat before going out?" Lin Lishan asked with a smile, standing in the kitchen doorway.

Zhang Guoqing’s eyes flickered. How could he forget this routine? Looks like he’ll have to plan carefully and not hurt his mother-in-law.

"Mom, have you eaten yet? Where’s Dad?"

"He just got back too, you two are really busy. I’m cooking noodles, you and your dad can have another bowl."

Zhang Guoqing glanced at Aunt Chen, who was shaking her head behind her, and smiled as he nodded—looks like the noodles had gone through another process. His mother-in-law was quite skilled; the noodles could be unevenly thick, and if it were dumplings, nine out of ten might break.

"Mom, fry an egg. It’s okay if it’s not fully cooked, just don’t burn it. I’ll wait inside." Zhang Guoqing said with a chuckle and went inside.

Lin Lishan scolded playfully, "This brat always rembers I can’t fry eggs well."

Aunt Chen couldn’t help but laugh quietly. As if you only can’t fry eggs? Occasionally, even boiled eggs might not be fully cooked.

Zhou Xiaozheng was chatting softly with his daughter and, seeing him co in with a smile, thought of the latest info he had received, and his lips curled up.

This silly boy thinks he doesn’t know that bastard is after Gu Ruyi. If it weren’t for him letting it happen, how could that bastard have gotten an introduction letter?

This ti he planned to let a fish out to stir the waters. So things needed ending, and so people needed leaving, to avoid bumping into them all the ti and getting mood swings.

Zhou Xiaozheng didn’t intend to give hints either and just played around with the kids. As for that little girl out Northwest, her purpose was over, but leaving her there for his son-in-law to practice could be fine too.

Ping’an waved at Zhang Guoqing, "Dad, let’s talk about sothing serious."

Zhang Guoqing suppressed his laughter and walked up to him, "Alright, let’s talk. What’s on your mind?"

Ping’an looked around and seeing the adults weren’t joking about, he felt reassured, "I’ve been quite troubled recently. I feel like I should be going to elentary school, but when I asked Auntie, she said I need to be at least seven."

"Indeed, you need to grow up first. We’re not in a hurry. What you learn from Grandpa is more extensive and profound than what you learn at school."

Ping’an glanced at him distressfully, "Another big matter is troubling too. Sister Xiao Wanzi actually said she wants to marry when she grows up. Then Sister Fatty fought with her, saying whoever wins gets to marry ."

Zhang Guoqing pinched his thigh to hold back laughter: "So who won in the end?"

Ping’an clenched his fists and raised his arm, "I don’t want either of them, so I beat them up, and this way, no one has to be my wife."

Zhang Guoqing gave him a thumbs up, "You’re aweso!"

"But now they don’t play with anymore."

Zhang Guoqing comforted, "Don’t worry, they’ll co looking for you in a few days."

Zhou Jiao chuckled uncontrollably from the side, "You should be worried about how to practice your archery more precisely. Didn’t you say last ti you wanted to achieve a Hundred-step Piercing Willow?"

Ping’an finally saw an opportunity to show off and giggled at Zhou Xiaozheng. Praising himself wasn’t fun anyway, plus it seed he had done sothing wrong.

Zhou Xiaozheng glanced at him, "A few days ago, so big kids in the courtyard went bird-hunting. He followed with a little bow and shot down two of their pigeons. The entire courtyard ca over to watch in amazent."

Zhou Jiao was anxious upon hearing this, trying to maintain composure, she spoke gently, "Didn’t mommy tell you to avoid showing off in front of others? How co you forgot this ti?"

Ping’an waved his hand, "Mommy, you don’t get it. If I want to be the top, I need them to admire . I have many talents I haven’t shown them, but shooting birds must be the best. This ti when I hit their pigeons, I apologized with two eggs."

Zhang Guoqing suddenly understood, so that mysterious smile of Mr. Yi’s that day, it ant this. Hmm, definitely the eggs’ fault, not his son’s.

Zhou Jiao observed him thoughtfully, wondering if he was thinking the sa thing. She seed to grasp the pros and cons by the ti she was four or five years old too.

Looking outside, she spoke slowly, "Did you have this all planned out from the beginning?"

Ping’an chuckled shyly, "Mommy, you figured it out? All courage and no strategy, that’s a brute. All strategy and no courage, that’s a coward. Being a brute is better than being a coward."

Zhou Jiao picked up on the implication, nodded, but still reminded him, "You have to know your limits; overdoing it turns the brute into a dangerous Chu Overlord."

Ping’an, raised and educated single-handedly by Zhou Jiao since young, understood what his mom ant right away. He couldn’t be the top yet, he had to be like his dad and listen to his mom, to stay as the backup. That night, he heard them talking half the night about lying low and waiting for the right ti.

He understood what it ant to lie low; he just didn’t know what timing they were talking about. So he would wait for his mom’s timing.

Believing he understood Zhou Jiao’s underlying aning, Ping’an blinked his big eyes and nodded at her seriously.

Zhou Jiao glanced at Zhou Xiaozheng, who was smiling beside her, "Dad, thank you for the hard work."

Zhou Xiaozheng patted her head, "No hard work. The kid is smart, no need for to explain everything, he’ll figure many things out on his own."

Zhou Jiao held onto her dad’s arm and said no more. There was no need for such politeness between them. Her dad definitely put a lot of effort into Ping’an. She grew up under pressure from her environnt, while Ping’an, never going through any setbacks, needed soone to constantly remind and guide him.

Zhang Guoqing hugged Ping’an with a heartwarming feeling; his son really had it rough. To see such a tiny person having to think about this, weigh that. It looked like he had to work harder to make sure the kid could live more freely and carefreely. So when the ti ca for him to rely on his dad, he could act as he pleased.

Luckily, Zhang Guoqing’s unconditional pampering was backed by Zhou Jiao. Otherwise, there might have been so consequences in the future.

After eating the noodles—this ti the egg wasn’t burned, Zhang Guoqing suspected that Aunt Chen’s strong assistance played a big part. However, seeing his mother-in-law’s face looking for praise, he gave a thumbs-up. That’s why he really didn’t need a daughter; sons were better, and sons were so much smarter!

With his divine logic, godly ideas, and enigmatic confidence, when Zhang Guoqing took his wife and son back to the room, he was still contemplating how to explain Lin Xuelin’s actions.

—Mustn’t gross out his wife.

Zhou Jiao quickly grasped the situation after analyzing his muddled words. She was at a loss for words; how stupid a brain must that be?

Even rabbits don’t eat the grass by their burrow. With her shrewd uncle, he had the intent but not the guts, so how could he dare accept the other’s advances?

She really wanted to dig into Lin Xuelin’s pig-like brain to see if her brain nerves were different from others.
