After dinner, Li Jianjun went in to check on Lin Liyin, feeling her forehead, and was relieved to find she didn’t have a fever.
The thing about a fever is that it’s most feared to relapse at night.
"You’re back?"
"Keep sleeping, I’ll make so porridge for you to drink when you wake up."
Li Jianjun gently patted her. He felt a bit guilty for not being able to rush to the hospital to be with her today. His previous anger dissipated with the sight of her haggard face.
After urging his two sisters to rest, Li Jianjun also washed clothes for his sons. Amidst the busyness, the pot on the stove was already bubbling away.

As he put out the fire in the kitchen and walked to the bedroom, he heard his older son scolding his younger brother. He turned around and knocked on the door, "Sleep early, or you’ll struggle to get up tomorrow."

Hearing his younger son’s shout, he couldn’t help but smile. The brotherly bond between these two was genuinely good! Oh well, he wouldn’t interfere, one willing to hit and one willing to take it.
After giving a few instructions, he returned to the bedroom, observing his wife’s complexion in the lamp light. Li Jianjun carefully moved a chair to sit by the bed, quietly flipping through a military magazine, occasionally glancing at the person on the bed.

As she struggled to get up, the movent woke Li Jianjun. He quickly handed her a glass of warm water from the desk, "How are you feeling now? You’re a doctor yourself, you have to take care of yourself."
Lin Liyin didn’t bother to answer, she drank half a glass of water, then wryly shook her head, "When illness strikes, it hits hard. I didn’t catch a cold all during winter, yet now in the heat, I caught one."
Li Jianjun chuckled, he refrained from saying it was anxiety that made her ill. Knowing she was strong-willed and never liked to complain about her family to him, he didn’t ask why she went to the Big Courtyard today. Especially after yesterday’s awkward incident, he didn’t want to bring up the ss at the Yue Family.
"Hungry? How about I get you so porridge? I made it with new rice and a bit of alkali, boiled till it’s rich with rice oil, and also cooked a salted duck egg. It’ll definitely whet your appetite."
Lin Liyin nodded with a smile. Truth be told, she was indeed hungry. Since being discharged from the hospital this afternoon, she’d only had two bowls of porridge and broke into a sweat, long since so hungry her stomach was cramping.
After she got out of bed, used the bathroom, and wiped down with warm water, she returned to the bedroom to find Li Jianjun had already set the table waiting for her.
After finishing a big bowl of porridge and half a salted duck egg, Lin Liyin felt she had finally recovered. She stood up to move her body around the room.
"Why didn’t you eat the other half? My mother sent ten this ti, enough for everyone."
Lin Liyin shook her head, "It’s okay, we can still eat well at work, leave it for Xiao Wan and the other three to eat slowly. You should go wash up and get so sleep, you’ll have to rush off to work early tomorrow."
"No rush. How are you feeling? Should I take a day off tomorrow?"
"No need. I’m well aware of my own body."
"I’ve noticed you’ve been under a lot of pressure lately. Once I’m done with my work, let’s take a family trip to the countryside for a few days to let you unwind."
