Jiang Jiangyu, who left by car, stayed at a guesthouse in the nearby county that night in a room too cold to start a fire, leaving her sleepless all night. Throughout the night, she thought about many things, so clear, so confusing.
At one point, she suddenly felt grateful to Heaven, thankful to her old father for saving her back then, and most of all, she thought of her four children. By comparison, she suddenly didn’t feel these days were so bad.
The next morning, after checking out, Jiang Jiangyu didn’t rush back to see her husband. She didn’t know how she should talk to Lin Aidang. Before coming, her husband repeatedly instructed her to persuade the other party for peace, but she seed to have ssed it up.
Those hateful eyes made her shudder, especially that quick change of face. Was she the type she could handle? She regretted bringing those things along.
Boarding the car heading to her eldest son, Jiang Jiangyu took one last look at the direction of the farm—she never wanted to step foot here again in her life.
After sunset, Lin Dingsheng, returning from work, barely had ti to be pleased about his mother’s visit before hearing about these matters.
"Son, do you think Mom shouldn’t have..."
Lin Dingsheng smirked sarcastically, "Shouldn’t have what? Mom, you did nothing wrong. If it wasn’t for her, would our family be laughed at? Would my two sisters need to marry low? Her parents don’t even co to see, making you go in the freezing cold—what else do they expect? If it weren’t for Grandma not being around, wouldn’t she still have a chance to breathe?"
"Sigh..."
Lin Dingsheng handed her a cup of tea, "What’s worth sighing over? I’ll accompany you to call Dad later to set his mind at ease, or he’ll be worried sick if you don’t return."
"I don’t even know how to tell your dad."
"What’s hard to tell? You’ve seen the person, and the stuff’s been sent. As for my uncle, can he bla anyone? The idea ca from Grandpa. Didn’t Uncle accept it too? Now that it’s done, what father-daughter relationship is there to speak of? If Grandpa wasn’t kept in the dark, sothing would’ve changed."
Having seen the old man’s ways, Jiang Jiangyu knew better, yet compared to the old lady, he was blood-related. She blinked, suddenly realizing it wasn’t impossible. For Xiao Hui’s current relationship, to avoid affecting the children, it wasn’t impossible.
Thinking about it made her feel a chill, shivering.
Lin Dingsheng smiled knowingly, "So Mom, don’t interfere with their family’s affairs anymore. If things go wrong, they won’t think they’re unkind and will push the bla onto you. It’s happened before."
Jiang Jiangyu nodded repeatedly.
"You and Dad should return to Beijing early."
"Going is a must, but what about you brothers?"
Lin Dingsheng comfortingly smiled, "You don’t have to worry about us. If it really doesn’t work, I could transfer industries like Dad. With Grandpa backing , it’s better than Xiao Hui; he still spoils the most."
Though saying so, how could Jiang Jiangyu rest assured? Looking at her son with furrowed brows, "Then hurry and have a son; Grandpa has urged several tis. Don’t let Xiao Hui have kids before you."
Lin Dingsheng chuckled and nodded, perfunctory, "I know."
"So long after work, where did your wife go? A woman who can’t even take care of her man, always talking about work, married for so long without being pregnant—didn’t your mother-in-law urge her?"
Lin Dingsheng quickly stood up, pulling her along, "I’ll handle it. Let’s go call Dad first; he must be worried without eating. Mom, I’ve saved a lot of vouchers this ti. Let’s see if there’s anything you like in town."
Jiang Jiangyu rolled her eyes at him, following his lead out of the study, "Don’t think Mom’s nagging. You’re not young anymore; if there’s an issue with her, separate sooner. I wouldn’t want a daughter-in-law who can’t bear children."
As she spoke, a sound of keys unlocking the front door was heard; Jiang Jiangyu instantly grabbed her son, standing still to watch the door.
"Ah, Mom’s here." Qian ijia said upon opening the door, seeing her husband and mother-in-law standing there, smiling, "Why didn’t you open the door for ? Is there any food? I’m starving."
Jiang Jiangyu frowned, "Who cooked?"
"Mom, what’s wrong?"
Seeing her daughter-in-law play dumb, Jiang Jiangyu felt a burning rage inside, "What’s wrong? You don’t understand? What ti is it now? Look at what your man’s turned into recently?"
"Mom..."
Hearing her son’s voice, Jiang Jiangyu got even angrier, "Mom, what Mom? If I’d known you’d still need dining hall als after marriage, I wouldn’t have urged you to marry her. Look, whose ho is such a ss? Piles of laundry, socks, coming ho to a cold stove—what kind of ho is this?"
"Mom, you’re being unreasonable!"
Lin Dingsheng’s face darkened, harshly scolding his wife, "Say less!"
"Unreasonable? I’m unreasonable? What promise did you make then? You assured you’d take care of my son before I forced him..."
Lin Dingsheng hurriedly embraced his mom, interrupting, "Mom, people outside might hear."
Jiang Jiangyu imdiately shut her mouth.
"Jiajia, co here quickly." Lin Dingsheng gestured to his teary-eyed wife, "Mom, don’t be mad. You care for , thinking I’m thin—look at ; I’m all muscles."
"Lin Dingsheng, were you forced by your mom to marry ? Or are you still unwilling in your heart? Boo hoo hoo... I knew you didn’t like . I can’t do housework, not bearing children, boo hoo hoo... can’t do anything..."
Lin Dingsheng laughed helplessly, watching his wife sobbing with a suppressed voice, "Who said that? My wife’s great. Mom wasn’t in a good mood; she just told to be more considerate and plans to take you to the hospital tomorrow. Co cheer her up; I’ll go cook for you both."
"Really?"
Hearing this, Jiang Jiangyu rolled her eyes at her son, turning away. No matter how dissatisfied with this daughter-in-law, now’s not the ti to stir trouble and embarrass him. She understood that.
"Why would I lie? Tomorrow you go to the hospital with Mom, get treated early if there’s an issue, so we can have a few chubby babies."
Seeing her son really turn to the kitchen after speaking, Jiang Jiangyu couldn’t bear it. She swiftly grabbed him, quietly heading to the kitchen herself.
Lin Dingsheng didn’t stop her. He knew his mom’s temperant by heart. Seeing this, he quickly signaled his wife to follow.
Qian ijia, pursing her lips, hesitated, glanced at him, then lowered her head, walking slowly towards the kitchen. She didn’t understand why her mother-in-law liked coming over in such cold weather.
Watching the mother and daughter-in-law leave, Lin Dingsheng shook his head in a wry smile, sighing quietly.
At this mont, he couldn’t leave yet; he had to stay nearby to keep an eye. If either of the two won, spoiled since childhood, bickers, it won’t be a small scene.
