Visiting relatives, for adults, is about maintaining relationships.
But for kids, it’s about getting lucky money and eating good food.
Jiang Ran always thought, since she’s already a mother and so grown up, she shouldn’t be receiving any more lucky money.
But on New Year’s Eve, she received lucky money from Wang Cuilan and Pei Baoshan.
Jiang Ran didn’t want it at the ti, but Pei Baoshan and Wang Cuilan insisted on giving it, very determined, so Jiang Ran had no choice but to accept it.
But she never expected that upon arriving at Wang Cuilan’s maternal ho, she would receive lucky money again.
Jiang Ran lowered her head, looked at the red envelope in Pei Jing’s hand, then at the one in her own hand, feeling like she and Pei Jing were almost reaching the sa generation.
"I, um..."
"Hey~Ranran!" Wang Cuilan interrupted Jiang Ran before she could finish, "Your uncle and aunt are giving it to you, just take it. It’s not much money, just a token of their affection."
Jiang Ran knew it wasn’t much money, just the elders’ gesture, but she still felt a bit awkward holding it.
But seeing everyone’s eyes on her, Jiang Ran couldn’t voice her refusal, so she reluctantly nodded and put the red envelope away.
Just as she put it away and looked up, she saw Pei Yang looking at her with envy.
Seeing Jiang Ran look over, Pei Yang laughed, "Sister-in-law! I’m so jealous of you, you still get red envelopes. I don’t get any more."
Just as Pei Yang finished speaking, Wang Cuilan gave him a displeased look, "You’re about to discuss an engagent, and you still want red envelopes? What for?"
Hearing this, Jiang Ran really wanted to say, she’s already a mom and can still get red envelopes, so why can’t Pei Yang, who isn’t married yet?
But before she could speak, Jiang Ran caught onto another point.
What did Wang Cuilan just say?
Pei Yang is going to be engaged?
Not only was Jiang Ran surprised, even Pei Yang was taken aback, his eyes widened and he sprang up.
"Mom! What did you just say? I’m getting engaged? How co I didn’t know about this?"
Seeing the very excited Pei Yang, Wang Cuilan remained calm, "Why are you so excited? You didn’t know before because I hadn’t told you. Now that I’ve told you, you’ve been inford."
"Is that the point?" Pei Yang was almost hopping mad, "Who said I’m getting engaged?"
"I’m your mom. Whether you get engaged is up to , why would anyone else need to tell ?"
Pei Yang was almost at a loss for words, hopping in frustration.
After a while, Pei Yang finally cald down, "Mom, I’m only turning eighteen after the new year, I’m still young. Why are you talking to about engagent?"
"Eighteen is young?" Wang Cuilan retorted, "Once you’re engaged, betrothed, then spend a year or two getting to know each other, and you’ll be just right for marriage. How is that young?"
According to Wang Cuilan, she’s not wrong; after all, these days, most people start considering these things at this age once they finish school, and then get married in a year or two.
But Jiang Ran still felt it was too early for Pei Yang.
Pei Huai can now stand on his own, running the snack shop single-handedly, earning enough to support a small family.
But with Pei Yang’s personality, he’s still like a kid!
