After a bout of chaos, the cell returned to calm. Everyone sat in heavy silence. After a while, Yao Ziping sidled up to Fan Rui, an anxious look on her face, and asked, "Fan Fan, do you think Luo Ye will hound to the end?"
Fan Rui pursed her lips, "You’re asking ? How would I know?"
"You’ve t her before, you should know her a bit, right?" Yao Ziping pleaded as she grabbed Fan Rui’s arm, "Fan Fan, tell honestly, my heart is pounding with nervousness."
"Honestly, I don’t know." Fan Rui shook her head, "She and I barely have any connection, you’ve got the wrong person."
"I was about to get out, and now this has happened. If my mom finds out, who knows what’ll happen." Yao Ziping’s shoulders shook as she started crying softly.
"What’s the use of crying now?" Fan Rui looked at her coolly, "Yao Ziping, the personality I hate the most is being fickle. You’re not a bad person, so why did you end up here? Three years have passed, and you haven’t improved at all?"
Yao Ziping shivered, tears quickly blurring her vision. She grew up without a father, and other kids looked down on her. So, anyone who would play with her made her incredibly happy, even if the person was a fool.
As she grew up, not much changed for her. Because of her family’s financial situation, she dropped out of school early to work. With no education or skills, she could only work as a bar girl or waitress.
The inferiority she felt from a young age made her work hard and go out of her way to please everyone. It was this that inadvertently involved her in a case, leading to her arrest, and her mother’s health deteriorated instantly.
Fan Rui was right. All her tragedies stemd from her fickle nature, especially this ti; she ant to stand her ground for her mother’s sake, but in the end, she fell back into old habits.
"Alas!" she sighed heavily, her body slumping against the wall, a look of despair on her face.
Although she didn’t know about Luo Ye’s background, just seeing how she was able to defeat Qiao Xiaowan made it clear she was not simple. The way she had kicked her hard, it was unlikely Luo Ye wouldn’t bear a grudge.
In this life, maybe she wouldn’t have the chance to be filial to her mother...
"Don’t worry too much. Things may not be as bad as you think." Yao Ziping’s deanor evoked Fan Rui’s sympathy, so she leaned in and softly comforted her.

"Why are you talking like this again?" Fan Rui gently patted her back, "I wasn’t purely comforting you. Honestly, I used to hate Luo Ye, a hatred ingrained in my bones. I wished for her most pitiful downfall, and it was this mindset that drove to sche against her so ticulously.
However, when things were exposed, she didn’t kick when I was down. Otherwise, my sentence wouldn’t have been only five years. Of course, I only ca to realize this recently. When I first ca in, I wished I could cut her into a thousand pieces.
Now, having thought it through, I feel my hatred was unreasonable. The matters with my dad and brother had nothing to do with her. If they hadn’t had malicious thoughts, they wouldn’t have ended up like that.
And I, if I hadn’t been so focused on revenge and targeted the wrong person, wouldn’t have ended up like this either. Ziping, everyone in here has their flaws; otherwise, we wouldn’t be here.
But since we’re in here, we must change ourselves for a better future. No matter the outco, you have to live well. As long as you get out, there’s hope, right?"
Yao Ziping looked at her pitifully, "Fan Fan, my main worry is my mom. I can afford to wait, but my mom may not be able to. She’s the one who loves the most in this world, my entire reason for living. Without her, what’s the point of my life?"
Fan Rui sighed softly, patting Yao Ziping’s back without saying more. She wanted to comfort her, but she couldn’t irresponsibly lie. Giving her hope only for it to burst like a soap bubble would likely have even worse consequences...
The conversation between Yao Ziping and Fan Rui was overheard by everyone. Though nobody interjected, it left their hearts even more anxious, adding a stifling sense of impending storm to the room.
