With two crisp slaps, Jiang Xue fiercely struck Cheng Li twice. As she acted, Cheng Li’s originally fair face instantly beca red and swollen, faintly showing the imprint of five fingers.
Cheng Li was stunned, blankly staring at Jiang Xue. She hadn’t expected not only to be hit, but to be struck so hard and forcefully.
"You?" Cheng Li glared viciously at Jiang Xue. If it weren’t for so many people being present, she would have rushed forward to tear Jiang Xue apart.
"What about ?" Jiang Xue looked at Cheng Li with an innocent face and said with a smile, "Wasn’t it you who said that as long as I forgave you, you wouldn’t mind being hit or scolded?"
"I’m not good at scolding, so I had to resort to hitting." Jiang Xue spoke with such righteousness that it left Cheng Li fuming with rage.
She regretted coming today. Originally, she planned well. If Jiang Xue could reconcile with her, that would be great. If not, she planned to further tarnish Jiang Xue’s reputation.
But she didn’t expect to gain nothing and instead end up getting slapped.
At this mont, her face was in so much pain. There was no need to guess; it was surely swollen. Damn Jiang Xue, how dare she hit her! Cheng Li won’t let her go.
"Little Xue, did you hit so hard because you want to ruin my face?" Cheng Li exposed her swollen cheek, making sure everyone could see it clearly.
Seeing Cheng Li’s swollen face, people couldn’t help but feel sympathy for her, and their gazes towards Jiang Xue beca increasingly disapproving.
Facing everyone’s gaze, Jiang Xue remained neither humble nor arrogant, calmly saying, "Cheng Li, I forgive you."
"You?" Once again, Cheng Li was so angry she couldn’t speak. If Jiang Xue’s forgiveness ca at the cost of a beating, she would rather not get it.
Jiang Xue looked at her indifferently, ignoring the hatred in her eyes, and directly told those watching the scene, "The food’s getting cold, everyone, please sit down and eat."
Originally, the crowd wanted to criticize Jiang Xue but swallowed their words upon hearing her.
They’re in no position to bite the hand that feeds them.
Now, as they were dining at Jiang Xue’s ho, how could they have the nerve to speak against her?
Cheng Li still hoped for soone to stand up for her, to criticize Jiang Xue, but as ti passed, no one said anything, and everyone returned to their seats.
Seeing everyone disperse, Cheng Li was extrely resentful. She gave Jiang Xue a glare and then left dejectedly.
After leaving the Mu Family, as Cheng Li passed by the Zhuo Family, she deliberately slowed her pace, hoping to try her luck in encountering Zhuoyue.
She knew Zhuoyue could not stand seeing her being bullied or wronged. Now her face was beaten like this; if Zhuoyue saw it, he would certainly stand up for her.
With this thought, Cheng Li slowed her steps even further. A journey that would normally take a few seconds took her two minutes.
Unfortunately, much to her disappointnt, even though the Zhuo Family’s door was open, no one was in the yard.
Not encountering Zhuoyue left Cheng Li unsatisfied. She went by once more, but still, no one ca out. Helplessly, Cheng Li returned ho disappointed.
At the Mu Family house, after Cheng Li left, Father Jiang and Mrs. Jiang looked at their daughter with complicated expressions. They originally thought Jiang Xue’s claim of breaking up with Cheng Li was false and done to comfort them, but now it seed the two were truly estranged.
They were both happy and worried. Happy that Jiang Xue would no longer listen to Cheng Li, worried that Cheng Li might retaliate afterward.
Jiang Xue, however, wasn’t too concerned about it. Now that things were out in the open, she was ready to face whatever ca her way.
