At a distance of ten million kiloters from the white dwarf, Xiao Yu watched the scene with utter shock.
In that mont, countless thoughts flooded his mind.
Reflecting on the entire sequence of events, Xiao Yu noticed many details that could only be described as strange. For instance, why had the young Luka scientist’s warning been ignored at the start of the operation? Why had the glaring inconsistencies in the strange creature’s words and actions been subconsciously overlooked?
Not only had he ignored them, but most of the Luka people had as well.
“Another case of mind interference…” Xiao Yu mused silently. “It must have begun the mont I received its first ssage, subtly influencing my thoughts, leading to so many poor decisions.”
“Analyzing this, its mind interference ability is slightly inferior to that of the unknown entity that initially manipulated to leave the Solar System. That being controlled for thousands of years before I abruptly regained clarity after annihilating the Moluton Civilization. This strange creature, on the other hand, could only influence indirectly.”
“Still, even indirect manipulation is terrifying. I ca perilously close to making a catastrophic mistake—almost delivering 100 million tons of deuterium fuel to it. If it had used this fuel to escape the white dwarf, I wouldn’t have had any chance of survival. However, there’s sothing peculiar about such an advanced being still relying on fusion energy. Perhaps… so of its functions were damaged, leaving it no choice but to use such a rudintary energy source,” Xiao Yu speculated.
“What kind of terrifying being is this? What existence does it represent? According to Luka Two, the universe consists mainly of three major factions: Technological Civilizations, chanical Civilizations, and Beast Civilizations, alongside peculiar entities like the Specter Race. This strange creature… must belong to the Beast Civilizations. I’ve heard that the Beast Civilizations don’t develop technology, instead evolving their bodies to achieve unimaginable abilities, such as interstellar travel and Faster-than-Light Travel using their physical forms.”
“This bizarre creature must be a powerful entity from one of the Beast Civilizations, though I’m unsure of its current level. And the Taihao Civilization it ntioned—what level could they be? Are they stronger than the Guardian Civilization and the Sweepers?”
“Wait, it said it was gravely injured in a war against the Taihao Civilization and beca trapped on this white dwarf. Could it be that this white dwarf is the Taihao Civilization’s… prison?!”
The thought sent a shiver through Xiao Yu’s entire body.
“Using a white dwarf as a prison—what imnse power and audacity!”
While Xiao Yu pondered silently, the strange creature continued its frantic movents on the white dwarf, leaping and roaring in rage. Its spatial broadcasts spread throughout the void of space.
“This ti, I owe it to that young Luka scientist’s tily warning. Without it, I’d likely be dead by now. I must properly reward them. But… what about the Luka Civilization now?!”
The thought struck Xiao Yu suddenly, and he imdiately turned his attention to the New Holand and Paradise.
What unfolded before him was a devastating sight.
The New Holand and Paradise were filled with Luka individuals lying on the ground, covered in bloody pus, their fates unknown. Only a small number of Luka people remained conscious.
Xiao Yu’s heart tightened. He imdiately deployed countless robots to begin rescue operations.
These robots picked up Luka individuals one by one, transporting them to the hospitals. Within the hospitals, Xiao Yu directed the robots to conduct examinations on tens of thousands of Luka individuals.
The results left Xiao Yu gasping in shock.
“This is… truly horrifying,” Xiao Yu sighed.
The Luka people shared a similar body structure to humans. While their internal organs and systems differed, they were also composed of cells. Xiao Yu observed that a significant portion of Luka cells had mutated into massive black cells. These cells were incredibly aggressive, growing by devouring normal cells around them.
The black cells also devoured each other. Xiao Yu noted that the largest black cell had already grown to a size of one centiter, visible to the naked eye.
If left unchecked, these cells would likely consu the Luka bodies entirely. The black cells would then start devouring each other, eventually leaving a single, massive black cell. Worse yet, such a cell might continue absorbing others, potentially leading to the entire ship’s Luka population rging into one massive entity. Xiao Yu dared not speculate on the dangers this would pose.
“This must be a side effect of the mind interference. This strange creature influences brains through so unknown ans, simultaneously causing cellular mutations in affected organisms. Fortunately, I lack a physical body; otherwise, I would have mutated long ago,” Xiao Yu thought with relief.
He couldn’t help but recall the Level 4 Civilization fleet that passed through this area 300,000 years ago.
All living beings aboard that fleet underwent horrifying mutations, resulting in their deaths. Based on current knowledge, their corpses transford into black cells, continuing to roam and devour each other.
“Their fleet must have been a living hell during the mutations,” Xiao Yu imagined, a chill running down his spine at the thought of such a scenario.
Faced with these bizarre black cells, Xiao Yu found himself helpless—unable to discover a cure. His only option was to freeze all mutated Luka individuals. At ultra-low temperatures, the mutation process would slow significantly, allowing ti for Xiao Yu to find a solution before thawing them.
Instant freezing at ultra-low temperatures would not kill a life form but instead induce a deep, hibernation-like sleep. In this state, the body’s tabolism would reduce to nearly zero.
This technology had been studied on Earth and had already shown successful results in animal experints.
Fewer than 3,000 Luka individuals remained unmutated. To prevent them from mutating and ensure he had no distractions, Xiao Yu decisively froze them as well.
After handling everything, Xiao Yu began planning his next course of action.
“Should I flee, or should I attack?” Xiao Yu pondered silently. “At least now that I’m on guard, it won’t be able to manipulate into helping it again. This ans it’s trapped on the white dwarf with only one offensive ability: mind interference.”
“If I can resist its ntal influence, then whether I choose to escape or attack, I’ll already be in an invincible position. Taking down such a powerful creature—who knows what benefits I might gain?”
“If I can resist its mind control, I cannot fail. But if I cannot resist, no matter what I do, death will be the outco. So, the key lies in this!”
Xiao Yu reached a conclusion.
Recalling the ti he was under the creature’s influence, Xiao Yu felt an inexplicable unease. The creature had manipulated him without his awareness, leaving him completely unprepared. He hadn’t even realized he was being controlled.
“There’s a way to solve this!” Xiao Yu devised a plan.
While the terrifying entity raged and vented its anger, Xiao Yu swiftly wrote a program.
The program was simple, consisting entirely of basic multiple-choice questions.
Questions included: “Is my ho Earth?” “Is this Beast Civilization entity benevolent?” “Should I assist it?” “Should I head to the Aquila Two Binary System?”
There were hundreds of thousands of such straightforward questions, covering virtually every possible action.
Xiao Yu pre-set answers for these questions—either “yes” or “no.” If his responses deviated from the pre-set answers even once, a powerful electric current would activate, frying sensitive core components and imdiately snapping Xiao Yu back to awareness.
While managing his activities, Xiao Yu allocated 1% of his processing power to continuously answering these questions at a rate of 500,000 per second, comparing his answers with the pre-set ones to verify alignnt.
If his answers matched the pre-sets, it would confirm he wasn’t under control. If they didn’t, the pre-programd current would jolt him back to reality.
After setting everything up, Xiao Yu turned his focus to figuring out how to eliminate the accursed Beast Civilization entity that had nearly destroyed him.
“You caused so much trouble. How could I not teach you a lesson? Think you’re strong? I’m not afraid! I’ll fight you head-on!
“Since you’re trapped in the white dwarf prison and can’t escape, I’ll stay here and work on a plan. If one year isn’t enough, then ten years. If ten years aren’t enough, then a hundred or a thousand. Eventually, I’ll develop technology advanced enough to defeat you and find a way to destroy you. When that day cos, I’ll kill you for sure!”
Xiao Yu made his resolution.
