Now reading: Chapter 120: Reclusive Alien Beast Civilization from Rebirth of the Super Battleship, a Sci-fi novel by Rainbow Gate.

The ssage was transmitted via radio waves. Along with it ca a corresponding dictionary, allowing Xiao Yu to decipher the ssage’s aning almost instantaneously.

“What? Their body control has been taken over by 90%, leaving them with only 10% control?” This revelation left Xiao Yu utterly shocked.

“Should I trust their words?” The thought briefly surfaced in Xiao Yu’s mind before he dismissed it outright.

“Do you take for a fool? How could you spout such a low-level lie?” Xiao Yu thought grimly. Rather than ceasing his attacks, he increased the energy output of the laser cannons.

His reasoning was simple. In the universe, Technological Civilizations hunted Alien Beast Civilizations to extract materials from their bodies, while Alien Beast Civilizations hunted Technological Civilizations, treating their spaceships as food. The two were mortal enemies.

Given this enmity, this so-called “Arrow Beast” civilization claiming not to be hostile was utterly unbelievable.

Luka Three had ntioned that since the Arrow Beast Civilization could freely manipulate their bodies, they were likely a type of Alien Beast that used their physical forms as weapons—naturally excelling at close combat. Xiao Yu quickly concluded that they were trying to deceive him into ceasing or delaying his attacks, allowing them to close the distance for an assault.

“Do you think I’ll let your sche succeed?” Xiao Yu thought angrily. He didn’t respond to the ssage but instead directed the ground-based ships and the floating spacecraft to fire concentrated high-energy laser beams.

At this mont, the two sides were 400,000 kiloters apart and closing at a relative speed of at least 1,000 kiloters per second. At this rate, they would enter close combat in just 40 seconds.

The limited ti created a sense of urgency for Xiao Yu, especially since the opponent specialized in close combat.

These Alien Beasts had no energy shields. Xiao Yu observed the high-energy laser beams striking their bodies directly. Surprisingly, the lasers didn’t imdiately penetrate their flesh; it took a full five seconds of concentrated firepower to barely pierce through.

“These are flesh-and-blood bodies! How can they be so resilient? No wonder they’re renowned for their physical prowess,” Xiao Yu thought, deeply astonished.

However, sothing unexpected occurred.

Xiao Yu noticed distinct differences in the defensive capabilities of various parts of the Alien Beasts’ bodies. The laser cannons targeted weaker spots, choosing these as their attack points.

Yet, the Alien Beasts’ defensive reactions appeared sluggish, inconsistent with their remarkable mobility.

“What’s going on?” Xiao Yu was puzzled.

“Aren’t Technological Civilizations known for their wisdom? Can’t you devise a solution?” As Xiao Yu contemplated, another ssage arrived.

“If you can’t figure out a way, then destroy us. We’ll use the remaining 10% of our control to slow our movents and give you an opportunity. We would rather perish than serve as the demon’s puppets!”

This ssage exuded a tragic resolve, akin to the sentint of “Better to be shattered jade than unbroken pottery.”

“What is going on?” Xiao Yu muttered, still grappling with uncertainty. Finally, he sent a ssage of his own: “Are you saying your bodies are controlled by the Alien Beast on the white dwarf star?”

“Yes. It controls us and forced us to travel from a distant star to stop you. Our bodies are no longer our own; we’ve been enslaved by this demon. However, our minds remain free, which is why we can communicate with you. Stranger from a Technological Civilization, if you cannot help us break free, then destroy us.”

“But… don’t you understand? Technological Civilizations and Alien Beast Civilizations are mortal enemies!” Xiao Yu hesitated before sending this response.

“Technological Civilizations and Alien Beast Civilizations are mortal enemies? We’ve never heard of such a concept. From the mont we were born, we’ve stayed within our star system, never venturing out or interacting with other civilizations. If not for a spaceship crashing onto our planet, bringing us an abundance of information, we wouldn’t even know of Technological Civilizations’ existence,” the Arrow Beast Civilization replied.

“This… this…” Xiao Yu was torn, unsure whether to believe them.

“Could this be a Reclusive Alien Beast Civilization? They might be deceiving , another sche orchestrated by the Alien Beast on the white dwarf star. Or… they might be telling the truth. In that case…”

Among Alien Beast Civilizations, there are predatory civilizations and reclusive civilizations. Generally speaking, reclusive civilizations are more likely to be peaceful.

Xiao Yu, though briefly conflicted, quickly made a decision.

At this mont, the two sides were still over 200,000 kiloters apart.

“I cannot fully trust you,” Xiao Yu said. “The demon on the white dwarf is a master of deceit, so I cannot be sure you are telling the truth. Answer one question.”

“What is your weakness?” Xiao Yu asked bluntly.

“In combat form, our weakness lies two ters below the third arm, where many of our vital organs are concentrated.”

“Very well. I have another question. If I attack your weakness with lasers of this intensity, how long can you hold out? How long until you lose mobility, and how long until death?”

“At most, we would die in ten minutes. After seven minutes, our movents would slow significantly, and after eight minutes, we would lose all mobility,” the Arrow Beast Civilization replied.

“Understood. I will target your weak points with lasers, but I will not kill you. I will attack for eight minutes until you lose mobility. Then, I will capture you aboard my ships and use my thods to restrict your movents.”

Xiao Yu’s plan was simple. This way, regardless of whether the Arrow Beasts were truthful, Xiao Yu would suffer no losses.

If they were truthful, the approach would prevent unnecessary damage on both sides. If they were lying, any resistance they mounted after capture would only cost Xiao Yu one or two experintal ships—insignificant in the grand sche.

And if they offered no resistance, Xiao Yu had ample ans to further restrict their movents. Overall, the strategy was foolproof.

After sending the ssage, Xiao Yu patiently awaited their response.

The two sides were now 15 seconds from contact.

Xiao Yu gave them five seconds to reply. His ships were ard with energy weapons, ready to fire after five seconds if no response ca. If they agreed, Xiao Yu would retract the energy weapons and switch to lasers.

To Xiao Yu’s surprise, they didn’t take the full five seconds. In just one second, he received their reply.

“As expected of a Technological Civilization known for its intelligence! Your plan is excellent! We agree. However, please note that during the close combat phase, as our bodies are uncontrolled, we may inadvertently harm your ships. Please do not hold it against us. We will inform you of our attack directions and thods in real ti and will use the remaining 10% of our control to slow our movents and minimize your losses.”

Xiao Yu felt an absurd and surreal sensation. It was as if he had ford an alliance with the Arrow Beasts’ consciousnesses to combat their own bodies.

“Very well. Since that’s settled, I’m beginning the attack!” After sending this ssage, countless laser cannons locked onto their targets and began firing.

Before launching the attack, Xiao Yu had already numbered each of the 7,000 Arrow Beasts and tracked how long each was under laser fire. This ticulous tracking ensured no errors, such as insufficient firepower failing to disable the beasts or excessive firepower killing them.

The seconds ticked by. Both sides finally entered close combat.

At this stage, Xiao Yu truly understood why Alien Beast Civilizations were fad for their physical prowess.

One Arrow Beast raised an arm over dozens of ters long and swung it fiercely toward Xiao Yu’s ship. At the mont of impact, the arm’s swing speed exceeded 20,000 kiloters per second.

Before the strike landed, Xiao Yu received a warning from the Arrow Beast: “Beware! I’m about to attack the third section of your ship!”

Xiao Yu was enraged. Even with the warning, he couldn’t evade the attack because his ships lacked the mobility to avoid it. Helpless, Xiao Yu watched as the Village-Class ship’s energy shield shattered under the impact, and the ship exploded into debris.

“Their offensive power is incredible, and their mobility is unmatched. A fleet of 7,000 Arrow Beasts like this would require at least 30,000 of my ships to ensure victory. These 5,000 ships are far from sufficient,” Xiao Yu mused grimly.

“Your attacks are too devastating. I’m switching to energy cannons! Be sure to report your damage status continuously. I will adjust attack directions and power levels to avoid accidental kills!”

After losing several ships in rapid succession, Xiao Yu made this decision out of frustration.
