Now reading: Chapter 870: Victory Is Near from Rebirth of the Super Battleship, a Sci-fi novel by Rainbow Gate.

At this point in the war, at the cost of destroying tens of billions of stars, Xiao Yu had finally gained his first all-around advantage since the beginning of the war. Now, whether in terms of numbers or material reserves, that is, the potential for further developnt of the war, Xiao Yu now held the upper hand.

This was the difference between strategic-class weapons and tactical weapons. Strategic-class weapons were weapons capable of affecting the entire battlefield situation. Strategic-class weapons were not used lightly, but once used, they would inevitably shock the heavens.

The strategic objective of destroying the galaxy had been fully achieved. So now there was nothing Xiao Yu needed to hold back over. Taking advantage of this opportunity to expand the gains was the first thing that had to be done.

Xiao Yu’s thirty billion warships, amid constant losses and constant replenishnt, had now been reduced to fewer than ten billion. The situation of the virtual life civilization was even worse than Xiao Yu’s. After all, during the destruction of the galaxy, they had taken another brutal hit. In that boundless and surging tide of violent energy, at least five billion warships that failed to escape in ti were swept away by that violent wave and torn apart in this deep universe. The total number of warships of the virtual life civilization had now dropped below nine billion.

Xiao Yu’s side had already gained a slight nurical advantage. Moreover, Xiao Yu’s warships also held a performance advantage.

“Advance, advance!” Under Xiao Yu’s command, fewer than five hundred million warships remained behind in the base to take on the full defense of the main camp, while the remaining more than nine billion warships all sallied out at once.

Within this galaxy left devastated after the great upheaval, another storm was about to descend.

At this mont, the offensive and defensive positions were reversed.

Against the cosmic backdrop that shifted between dark red, pitch black, and then all sorts of tangled colors, space fluctuated once again. The aftershock of the violent energy from Xiao Yu’s destruction of the galaxy still had not completely subsided, but it could no longer bring too great an impact to the two sides at war. Deep within the galaxy, there were perhaps still violent energies entangling with one another, undergoing a series of changes Xiao Yu still did not fully understand. It was under their disturbance that this galaxy still carried the sense of a storm about to break.

There was no pause and no delay. Under the joint command of Xiao Yu and the Supercomputing Centers, the war unfolded at lightning speed. This was the largest battle since the start of the war.

Xiao Yu committed more than nine billion warships, while the virtual life civilization pulled out all of its remaining warships. Around the surviving dozens of stars, under the watch of those enormous factories and the robots and transport ships constantly shuttling back and forth, this great battle fully began.

The two different fleets, like two clearly separated waves of the sea, slamd viciously into each other. The Spatial Cannons were fired once again. Under the cover of the spatial maze, the star region had beco entirely twisted. Countless warships, within that twisted space, moved about like elusive ghosts, carrying with them the aura of death and destruction…

In this chaotic battlefield, Xiao Yu always kept part of his computational power split off to closely watch the overall situation, using it at any mont to analyze the aning hidden within every move of the virtual life civilization. Xiao Yu had never forgotten that his understanding of the virtual life was still insufficient. Whether it was what it had called escaping the cage, or the so-called replicates, all of it carried a certain mysterious color in Xiao Yu’s eyes. Xiao Yu had to guard against any possible unexpected event.

The defense line of one star had been breached. Around that star there had originally been nearly two hundred million enemy warships, but now fewer than a quarter remained. Before the tide-like flood of warships pouring in from Xiao Yu’s side, they had resisted for less than two days before collapsing completely. That star was destroyed by Xiao Yu without hesitation, while the surviving warships fled in panic to the rear, gathering around another star together with the other garrison forces there and resuming their defensive duties.

For so reason, when watching those warships flee, Xiao Yu always sensed a kind of panic, even though the retreat of those warships was still carried out under close coordination and cooperation.

Xiao Yu could not explain this problem. The contradiction was obvious. This contradiction, like the fleeing behavior Xiao Yu had noticed before among these warships, was sowhat inexplicable. If these warships were rely tools under the control of the virtual life, if warships were rely numbers, then they should not possibly feel panic. But if these warships were controlled by independent individuals, and the destruction of a warship ant their death, then the behavior of fleeing and panic would have an explanation. But then how could such close coordination and cooperation be possible?

After having that specially reserved portion of computational power record this issue, Xiao Yu continued silently observing every move of the virtual life civilization.

The fall of this stellar node ant that the area of several billion kiloters centered on this star was no longer under the control of the virtual life, but had fallen into Xiao Yu’s hands. Xiao Yu’s fleet would be able to move one step farther forward, getting closer to the rear logistics base of the virtual life and posing a greater threat.

The battle situation was developing in Xiao Yu’s favor. The fall of this star was only the beginning. Under the desperate struggle of Xiao Yu’s warships, the second fallen star appeared. Facing Xiao Yu, there was still that sowhat panicked retreat.

The difference between the two sides showed itself in this obvious behavior between the two fleets. For Xiao Yu, these front-line warships were rely tools in his hands. If they were destroyed, then they were destroyed. More could simply be built. What was there to panic over? So Xiao Yu’s fleet was more like fearless warriors. They had no understanding at all of what fear was. Compared to Xiao Yu’s side, the fleet of the virtual life side perford much worse.

This issue made Xiao Yu increasingly puzzled, but Xiao Yu truly could not figure out why. Xiao Yu tried to capture one warship of the virtual life civilization and carry out so analysis, but it seed that the virtual life civilization had adopted the sa strategy as Xiao Yu, naly that once a warship was at risk of being captured, it would self-destruct first, absolutely not allowing its own warships to fall into enemy hands.

With this ntality, for either side in the war, obtaining a captured enemy warship was harder than ascending to the heavens. Yet even under such conditions, through all sorts of strategies and after expending enormous effort, Xiao Yu still managed to capture one warship of the virtual life. The analysis left Xiao Yu extrely disappointed.

Inside this warship, there was no equipnt that an intelligent being could use to control the ship, nor was there any life-support equipnt. Since it was not being controlled from within the warship, then it could only be controlled remotely. There was no doubt about that. This indirectly confird that these warships were directly controlled by the virtual life, and so the fleeing behavior of the virtual life’s warships beca even more inexplicable.

Aside from that, during the construction of this warship, just like Xiao Yu’s own warships, extrely strict technological lockdown asures had been adopted. Xiao Yu could obtain this warship, but it was like an ordinary person from the Earth era purchasing a mobile phone. An ordinary person could possess the phone, but wanting to analyze the technology contained within it was not really possible.

Helpless, Xiao Yu temporarily stored this enemy warship away, leaving its analysis for the future.

The battle line continued to advance. By now, this campaign had already lasted for more than half a year. Of the fifty-seven stars under the control of the virtual life, twenty-six had already been destroyed by Xiao Yu. One star was one node. Centered on it, the power of the warships could radiate through tens of billions of kiloters of space around it. Twenty-six stars ant twenty-six nodes. Xiao Yu saw that his fleet was already about to make contact with the logistics base of the virtual life civilization.

In the hands of the virtual life civilization, fewer than five billion warships remained. In Xiao Yu’s hands, there were still fully seven billion.

“As long as I destroy the logistics base, as long as I destroy the logistics base! Judging by the computational power shown by the virtual life civilization, it absolutely does not have the ability to rebuild its logistics base in a short ti. Without the logistics base, without replenishnt of warships, completely wiping it out will just be a matter of ti!” Xiao Yu’s mood could not help but begin to surge with hot blood. Since the start of the war, nearly two hundred years had passed. This was the hardest battle Xiao Yu had ever fought. Now, with victory seemingly right before his eyes, how could Xiao Yu not be excited?

“As long as there are enough samples of captured enemy warships, especially large warships of the Star Cluster-Class or Star-Class, analyzing their technology will beco much easier. At worst, I can directly force the virtual life to hand over everything I want. In any case, once I achieve victory in this war, I will have ten thousand ways to accomplish my purpose!”

Under Xiao Yu’s control, the tide-like fleet continued to advance. They were like the armies of ancient tis in the Earth era, while each star was like a fortress. The more fortresses they captured, the closer they ca to the heartland of the enemy. As long as they seized the enemy’s heartland, they would have won this war…

Xiao Yu won victory after victory, while the virtual life civilization retreated step by step.

It seed that there was no longer any doubt that Xiao Yu would obtain the final victory of the war.

But the developnt of events did not proceed as Xiao Yu had imagined. Under Xiao Yu’s gaze, the virtual life civilization once again displayed sothing that was enough to leave Xiao Yu shocked.
