The girls decided to walk through the snowy mountain, as Nyx detected a forest nearby with a big tree where the lifeforce signal she detected ca from. The slope wasn't really that dangerous, but Nyx made sure to hold Francis tight with her Shadows so she wouldn't slip and fall, using her shadows like threads to hold her together with her.
"Did you like the chocolate? It had peanuts! I had never eaten peanuts before, so it was really delicious," Said Nyx. "I never thought crunchy seeds could go well with chocolate!"
"You've never had peanuts before, Nyx?" Francis was surprised. "But how? You don't like eating peanuts?"
"What? No! They simply weren't… Uh, around where I lived!" Nyx nodded.
"Oh, I see!" Francis smiled. "That's a pity… But I'm glad you got to eat them now! They're my favorite. But my mom and my sister are allergic to them, so there's never any at ho."
"Allergic? You can be allergic to seeds?" Nyx raised an eyebrow, eating her second chocolate bar. Without her mama or papa to supervise her diet, she was eating all she wanted.
"Yeah! It's weird right? But it happens!" Said Francis. "They said their throat gets swollen and it could even kill them if it gets bad enough… But I sotis eat peanuts sneakily. I'm not allergic like them!"
"Yeah I can tell," Nyx giggled. "Are you sure you don't want to go flying though?"
"It's fine! I wanted to exercise so I consu the calories of the chocolate I ate…" Nodded Francis. "Also the view from here is really beautiful… Oh, the snow stops over there, huh?"
"Yeah, the snow is only at the top of the mountain, down there there's so forest," Nyx nodded. "Hmm, be careful, you could end up tripping and-"
RUMBLE!
"Uwaaaah!"
Out of nowhere, the mountain started trembling, and Francis tripped, falling down a huge cliff.
"Ah! Francis!"
As the mountain trembled and Francis fell, Nyx saw the snow coming down towards her.
"A-An avalanche?!"
She quickly dragged Francis towards her using her Shadow Threads, and then encompassed her with her Shadows, creating a Cocoon.
BOOOMM!!
The snow continued falling and rushing through, but Nyx remained immobile, her powerful Shadow Cocoon being enough to protect her and Francis from being crushed.
"D-Did it stop?" Francis wondered. "Wow, there's snow everywhere now?"
"Yeah we're surrounded by snow… perfect," Nyx sighed. "Well I could probably burn it all, it'll lt into water right?"
"I-I think so… Hmm?"
Francis walked around the black cocoon, which was rather semi-transparent, noticing sothing…
It was… shaped like a hand.
It was a thing, a sothing.
It was black and oily, and it was touching the cocoon.
Crack, crack…!
It was beginning to press it harder, as cracks spread through it.
"Uuh, Nyx? I think there's sothing over ther-"
CRAAASH!
"SHAAAAHHH!"
A loud monstrous scream echoed as the cocoon shattered and the snow ca rushing down, Nyx lost Francis' sight for a mont as the snow covered her entire body, the cocoon was breached by sothing!
"FRANCIS!"
Nyx quickly realized she couldn't just lt the snow now, if Francis was under it, she might end up boiling alive!
What's worse, there was now a sothing chasing them around.
"Francis…! Right, the thread!"
She glanced at the shadow thread, quickly pulling it towards her, she felt Francis body approaching, as Nyx rushed towards her.
"Francis! Can you hear ?"
She spoke to her through Soul Telepathy, but ended only hearing…
"Guuuggh…!"
The little girls' groans of agony.
"Ah right, she's going to asphyxiate in the snow!"
Nyx panicked even more, for the first ti things weren't under her control, and she was growing increasingly more stressed.
"Co on, co on, please resist!"
She reached Francis, touching her freezing hand, and quickly rushing towards the surface, Nyx hugged Francis and put her face in her shadows, where there was Oxygen she had absorbed from the atmosphere before.
"Haaahh… Haaahhh…!"
The girl was barely alive, gasping for air as she found her face in an endless darkness, feeling more scared than relieved now.
"It's alright! I got you! Just wait, we'll get out of here and-"
As Nyx head finally resurfaced from the snow, sothing was waiting her up there.
It was… a thing, sothing.
It resembled a mannequin made of white light, its head had an empty hole, and the rest of its body was oozing a black miasmic slimy thing.
"GRROOHHH!"
The thing roared, swinging its arms and hitting Nyx in the head with imnse force, sending her flying back down into the snow sea.
BAAAMM!!
"Ouch! Agh!"
As Nyx sank into the snow while rubbing her head, she noticed sothing approaching from beneath, another thing.
This thing was pitch-black, with long snake-like arms.
"SHAAAH!"
And an empty head, half of it was gone, it was bizarre and weird to even look at!
Its long arms wrapped around Nyx, pulling her down more and more.
"W-What the hell?! What is this thing even trying to accomplish?!"
Nyx quickly harnessed her powers, gathering her shadows into her hands, fusing them with phantasmal energies.
"Whatever you think is going to work, it won't!"
As she said that, she summoned a giant sword made of shadows and phantasmal energies, slicing through the monster's arms!
SLASH! SLASH!
"GRYYAAAAHH!"
The creature scread in agony, as Nyx quickly kicked the snow and rushed into the skies. This ti, she turned the blade into a shield, preparing for the incoming blow.
"GRUOOH!"
The mont she appeared on the surface, there it was, the white thing that hit her before was right there, waiting to hit her back down.
Not this ti though!
"Screw off!"
Nyx roared angrily, using her shield to defend.
BAAAMM!!
As this happened she opened her jaws, firing a little blazing beam at the monster, sending it flying away with a small explosion.
BOOOM!
She spread out her wings, flying into the blue skies away from these things as fast as possible.
Francis finally moved her had out of the shadows.
"N-Nyx! What's going on?! What were those things!" Francis asked.
"Nightmares…!" Nyx said. "They're monsters!"
"M-Monsters? But I didn't dream about monsters!" Francis said.
"It's not a dream! I told you! This is real, Francis!" Nyx said. "And if a Nightmare eats you… you die for real too!"
"E-Eh?!"
"SHYAAAAH!"
"GRUOOOH!"
"There they co!"
